View Full Version : Megaman X Chronicles 1: The Sigma Virus
Copying the rules post from Magnito... mostly...
Things to remember:
1) A full writeup of the rules can be found here: http://www.mafiascum.net/
2) When you vote, please do so by saying Vote: [Player] in bold. If you wish to change your vote, please say Change Vote: [Player] instead. Voting for 'Nobody' is a valid vote; if a majority votes for 'nobody' then nobody will be lynched and we'll move on to the Night phase. You can vote for yourself if you choose, so be careful when leaving your vote with another player.
3) If your role says you -may- PM me a target, you don't have to do anything at night. Even so, it'll speed things along quite a bit if you'd still just send me a PM saying "Not using my [whatever] power tonight, thanks."
4) If your role says you -must- PM me a target, and you do not? I'll pick one randomly. Or, perhaps, not-so-randomly. Don't blame me if you target someone who kills you.
5) You may NOT send a PM to anyone about this game unless your role explicitly says you can. This is cheating.
6) Do NOT edit your posts in this thread. This is cheating.
7) Please do not copy-and-paste anything from any PM I send you to the thread. This is also cheating.
8) Please do not post in this thread after you are killed. This, too, is cheating and can ruin the game if done wrong.
9) Cheaters may or may not get to play in other mafia games I run. It depends on the severity of the offense.
10) Remember, it's just a game. You will get paranoid, you will be stabbed in the back by someone, you will see somebody do or say something stupid and want to smack them. Just breathe deep and relax. If things get out of hand, we do have a mod playing who will forcibly remind you to chill out if needed. It hasn't happened yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.
11) If you are inactive for more than two phase cycles, I will automatically look to replacing you. If I cannot find a replacement, I will start selecting random targets for you.
One more thing, and this is HIGHLY important...
Do NOT talk about this game until the entire game has ended. Death does not necessarily mean game over unless your character is removed from the game.
Night 0... The End of Peace
My name is Rock, but you might know me best as Megaman. I was created as a lab assistant for Dr. Thomas Light. He and his partner, Dr. Albert Wily, created 6 more robots like me. They each had their purpose, their place in society. They were an attempt to make the lives of humans easier. Unfortunately, Dr. Wily would search for alternative ways to use these creations. He made them evil.
Dr. Light altered me so that I could stand up against these threats. While I was successful in stopping my brothers, Dr. Wily would not give up so easily. He would continue on, creating more and more "brothers" to try to take over the world with. Every time he unleashed his new creations, I would be there to stop him.
Finally, Dr. Wily reached the end of his maniacal genius. The world was at peace, and Dr. Light, my sister Roll, Rush... all of us could rest knowing the fight was over. But Dr. Light's work would never end until his life did. As such, he continued his research and eventually created an enhanced version of me. It was odd enough to see myself being born, but I fell into the mindset that I wasn't just seeing another me being born... I was seeing a better me being born.
Everything I could do, X could do. X could do it better, actually. But Dr. Light wasn't so certain he would be a safe creation. He initiated preventive measures to ensure that X's free will would remain in tact and true to form. Dr. Light sealed X away for 30 years, long enough to ensure the program's fail safe. Neither of us would last long enough to see X truly being born...
A long time later, Dr. Cain stumbled upon X. Researching his programing and Dr. Light's notes, Dr. Cain took a chance and opened him. Convinced that X was the wave of the future, Dr. Cain attempted to replicate his programming to create a new robot that he called a reploid. His first creation was Sigma, one of the most powerful reploids that would ever be created. As Dr. Cain created more reploids, he didn't take into account the preventative measures that were used in the creation of X. Some of the reploids turned on the humans, going Maverick. Dr. Cain did what he thought was best at the time: He created the Maverick Hunters, led by his most powerful creation Sigma.
After a short time, the worst outcome happened. Sigma went rogue and became a Maverick. To complicate matters, Sigma began to turn other reploids against the humans, and now he is perfecting a virus that will ensure all reploids turn. His goal is to annihilate all of the humans and raise an army of reploids to create total destruction.
I watch over my "Brother" X as he and his fellow Maverick Hunters fight against Sigma and the Mavericks. If only I could help... but my days of sliding and mega-busting are long since passed. My story has ended, but the Story of X has just begun...
K-Ness has left the game! He was Rockman, AKA Megaman, a robot from the past who fought hard his entire life... hopefully to help make a difference.

Which is why I made that comment as a lot of mods would've swung the opposite of their prior mistake. :)
Heck, my role is so straight-forward I'm not crossing fingers you didn't neuter the Town too much. :)
Oh, and my spouse is now peeved with you because while I should be settling in to rest, I'm instead fishing around for my Megaman PSP games. :laugh:

There are two "amped" versions of Megaman for the PSP (at least, that I own).
One is the original game - with added cut-scenes - but that can also be played in "New Mode" with "altered levels", 2 new bosses, and scores of other goodies (inc. the ability to play as the bosses if you defeat them without using any special weapons).
Megaman X also got turned into a PSP version with anime cut-scenes and assorted other changes to keep it fresh for those who'd previously defeated it on the SNES.
Out of curiousity, has anyone done a Megaman NT mafia? The Megaman vs the internet games are another series I loved dearly.

He's been hand-held since the Gameboy. Powered Up was released on the PSP. It's the first Megaman game with new graphics, story elements, and two new robot masters (Time Man and Oil Man).
Out of curiousity, has anyone done a Megaman NT mafia? The Megaman vs the internet games are another series I loved dearly.
To my knowledge, no. I have no interest in the NT series, so if you want it, by all means!

I've seen it, but I was enver able to play it. It has a cult following (as shown by Tron's constant inclusion in Marvel Vs. Capcom).

Day 1...
The Maverick Hunters returned to their posts for the evening. They had their orders and would be dutiful in their execution. Perhaps execution wasn't the best word to be used in this case... After all, those against the Maverick Hunters were planning some executions of their own... File executions, and not the good kind...
Day 1 has ended, and Night 1 has begun. Teleport to the start of the stage and Get Ready! You have 24 hours.
Due to an unfortunate incident after work, I have some business to take care of in the morning. The night phase will be extended, so get in your action if you haven't done so yet.
Night 1... Spin it. Let's Begin It!
I spent a long time battling Dr. Wily and his crazy robot masters. I never thought I would see the day when someone would come up with a hair-brained scheme that would have such a weird outcome as the one I saw that night, a hair-brained scheme that outdid anything Dr. Wily ever conjured up. Was this a sign of things to come?

A few reploids were out and about that night, each one with an important task to accomplish. Each one was in a different part of the city when a large tank came and captured each of them, one by one.

"What's going on down there?" One said as it observed a massive tank driving around in circles. A lot of other robots were focused on the passengers of the tank, none of which seemed to know what was going on. In fact, they seemed rather perturbed by the fact that they were being tossed about as if on Spin Cycle in a washing machine. Such dirty tactics were preventing much from getting done for the night.

The man on the line protested "You don't realize what's about to happen, though!!!"
There was a loud bang just then, and the communication link was immediately severed. The man looked out the window of the high rise and shook his head. "What an idiot." Many different crazy characters were stuck on the outside of the tank while the passengers inside were still being tossed about. The tank had finally stopped moving and smoke was spewing from its engines. The driver laughed. "That was fun!" He went back to singing a happy theme song.

It wouldn't be the first SNES game that's happened (the prior ones were like that as well).
Though I should note, my musical tastes made up an entirely new character as it should be Gravity Beetle, not Beatle. :)
Think of it 13-14 Maverick Hunter related robots (plus a few other folks that can fit in there).
Let's say there's 14 roles that are Town.
That leaves 4 for Mafia and 1 SK.
Or it could be the 13 bosses plus 5 Mafia and an SK.
The numbers match up pretty darn good.

1) Deathstroke didn't approach it the best way, but he was trying to get people to talk. Sometimes, these games are about hunches and pressuring.
2) He's claiming one of the named bosses from the video game on which this theme is based. That's a decent sign in his favour.
3) DroppinSuga, on the other hand, is claiming a character that is -not- from the video game that this game is taking its' characters. His is a likely busted false-claim.

The reploids squabbled back and forth, amidst the confusion presented to them. None of them accomplished much in the way of ending Sigma's plan. Perhaps during the night, with each left to their own devices, they could accomplish something.

The green robot, accepting its defeat, stepped aside. It was guarding a strange capsule. The person observed it, contemplating what this could be. After a few moments, he stepped inside the chamber.

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom... The footsteps thundered as he walked along. "There's my target..." He raised his cannons and fired the perfect shot. The beast cried out in pain and slumped to the ground. It was entangled in an energy field and couldn't move. "Here boy... Come on boy......" The man walked up to the feline-like bot. He raised a different gun at it. "Poor puppy..." The beast's cries echoed through the entire hall...

The crawfish was in his main room listening to some recorded messages from earlier in the day. His head was clear for once. He would have been so lost, possibly manipulated by the Mavericks if not for the device he wore. The device on his head began to glow as another message played. The crawfish winced a bit.
"my.... head...." He faintly whispered while he grabbed a strange device on his head. It was sparking a bit. "Yes... I see... you were telling the truth..." He tried writing something down, but his massive pincher broke the pencil in half. "Why..." He sighed and asked rhetorically. "Why was I built like this? I can't understand it at all..." He heard the sound of a saber power up. He turned to the entrance of his room. "You...!" His visitor held the saber out. "Do not worry about your pain and suffering. I will end it for you." The person lunged towards Crush, quickly running his saber through him. Crush screamed out as oil and blood began to poor out of his newly formed wound. His attacker merely smiled, turned, and walked away.
As Crush lay there dying, he looked up to the monitor in the room at a particular Maverick Hunter... "I'm... sorry... I tried..." His breathing became heavy as another person entered the room. "CRUSH!!!" The person ran over to his side. "Crush, what happened?! Who did this to you?" Crush looked up at his friend. "I... was analyzing... the messages... he was telling... the truth..." Crush weakly pointed at a monitor, though the screen was now blank. "I'm sorry... I failed you all... Thank the good doctor... for me... Even though... it was brief... I was able to... think... for myself for a change... Fight hard... and... fight proud..." The person watched as Crush closed his eyes for good. He reached out and touched the crawfish's forehead, then he took the head piece from his body. "You will be avenged my friend." He stood up and looked at the head piece once more. "I promise..."
Bender (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX9fzcmAHJU) has left the game. He wanted to kill all humans but wasn't invited to the party.
get_1 has been destroyed! He was Velguarder (Maverick) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCVytW2Uxxo&feature=related), Sigma's loyal pet, protective and deadly on top of stealthy and cunning.
Silver Lantern has been destroyed! He was Crush Crawfish (Maverick Hunter) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1MuWLHpmxA), a reploid with ersatz programming that led him crazy most times, but thanks to some special equipment, he was able to sort out his thoughts.
Night 2 has ended, and Day 3 has begun. With 17 players remaining, 9 votes are needed for a majority.

So two deaths means theres a SK right?
Based on the night write up it looks like maybe Zero could be a neutral SK.
I think Zeros the only one that uses a saber but taking a trip to megaman wiki to be sure.
