I will reiterate this though. DO NOT copy and paste ANYTHING from a pm sent to you by me. I will be strictly enforcing this rule this game. You will be modkilled if you do so.
The town's alignment is "Serpent Society" and the mafia's alignment is "Cap".
This game will be centered around my favorite era of Cap. Ok admittedly the only era I really know. I'd say issues 350-420 would cover it nicely. So anyway, get ready for an all out battle. Can Cap and his cohorts divert the tide of seemingly lame villains? Will those villains overrun the world to prove that they're not to be taken lightly? Will Kool-Aid man be able to burst free of his comic confines? Will Demolition Man ever be cool?

Introduction:
The star-spangled man wrapped a towel around his waist and threw another around his neck. He tussled his hair with the end of the towel around his neck as he walked into the locker room to don his star spangled duds. Just as he slid on his boots, an alarm went off. He pulled his mask up over his head and ran to the nearest terminal. Heat signatures showed multiple intruders on all levels. "Great," he thought, "And the Avengers are on a mission in space. I'm going to need some back-up on this one." The star-spangled avenger sent the mansion into lockdown and radioed the few people who had been left behind with him. "Meet me in the armory. We're under siege." He quickly pulled up the video feeds from a number of security cameras to reveal a number of snake suited men and women making their way through various parts of the mansion. "Looks like the Society is getting bolder. Well they'd better hope they have good intel because I'm on my home turf, and I'm not giving up until they're all in custody." The Star-spangled avenger locked the terminal and made his way to the armory where he found all but one of the mansion's remaining occupants. A moment later, an older man stumbled into the room with broken bones, gaping slash marks, and a few signature puncture wounds. The other occupants rushed to his aid. The man gave a final gasp as they laid him down, and his eyes glazed over. sstralkowski is dead. He was Jarvis. Alignment: Cap

I never claimed to be feigning ignorance, nor have I denied playing in a Stan game. ESB was my one and only Stan game that I can recall, and I honestly didn't remember us having to "lynch" someone each day. :ermm:

Well, it helped us Imperials out. I think the idea is activity. A day phase with less than X number of posts stagnates a game.
"Productivity" on Day 1 is kind of Stan's shtick.
"You have 24 hours to accomplish something or someone dies" [sic] is in bold at the end of every single one of his opening writeups.

I'm in agreement with Stan that all days, even D1, should be productive, but unfortunately, it seems that pressuring people the first day really only helps out the Mafia by giving them targets. So while its a great idea, in theory, it doesn't seem to work out well in practice.

I just made an observation, why am I catching flak for it? I said "Tyro seems to be claiming Cobra or some other member of the Serpent Society". I don't read Captain America comics, and the only member I know of who talks with those long, strewn out 'ssssss' sounds is Cobra. I don't know if anyone else talks like that, hence the second part of my observation (the "or some other member" part).

This subsequently caused Anaconda to go and beat the crap out of him. So Constrictor, your claim, was never actually part of the Serpent Society. In fact, he tried to turn them over to the Avengers. It says about as much in my role writeup from Stan. A complicated and convoluted character history bouncing from organization to organization, with like a bajillion alignments.
But if all I had to back up my claim was my character, I wouldn't have given that up so easily. ;)

I'm happy enough to keep my vote on you.
See, you went after get's claim of Constrictor because his character turned down Society membership but Slither first turned down Sidewinder and then, later, joined up to help Viper's hostile takeover.
So not only does Slither not have a great history with the Society but I'm not sure what to think of Viper's forces (not the main members who sided with her but ones that she brought in specifically to help her).

You were kicked out for basically "betraying" the group (i.e. - you fled in the middle of a mission, leading to some problems). Ticked off Seth enough that he mind-wiped you so you wouldn't know any of our secrets (and then that led, indirectly, to Death Adder's assassination against the most likely SK-candidate of the game).
Princess Python got expelled from the Society. Though I'm not sure when that happened/if it falls within the Captain America #350-420 timeframe this game is based on.

Ejected for cowardice. I wouldn't put it past them to eject me for being rather useless since I have no powers.
My knowledge of Captain America comes from the Fall of the Mutants tie-in with Power Pack, which doesn't fall in the issue listing. I know the Princess Python heroclix piece. Other than my roles and what I looked at on Wikipedia, I know nothing about her.

It all happens long before the timeframe, another big gaping hole but I was hoping to watch him dig himself in a bit deeper before tossing that in as well.

Princess Python's stint - brief as it was - happened about 40 issues prior to the timeline of this game (or, to put it into perspective, almost 4 years before the era to which Stan says he's familiar...in other words, he apparently never read any issues with Princess Python as a Society member.)
In fairness, though, I would expect Death Adder here due to him being such a nigh-iconic member of the group and he was killed during that same time period before Stan started reading.
Difference is: iconic member who is frequently used in depictions of the group vs. one-time coward of the group.

Yeah, and everyone puzzled over that one (the only good reason is because Princess Python's been around forever; just no one thinks of her when they think of the Serpent Society).
@KO - The issues of Cap that practically co-starred the Serpent Society are some of the best reading ever from the series. Highly recommend them just for the Society parts alone.
They had such a great gimmick (and it wasn't the snake theme).

Any idea what volume of Captain America Essential would have them? I'd prefer not to go out and have to hunt down each individual issue.
Makes me glad that we're getting some new Serpent Society pieces in the Cap set. It also makes me feel like I missed a great opportunity when I saw a bunch of the REV ones at my local con a few years ago and didn't get them.

Nothing in the Essentials line as they haven't gotten that far yet, as far I can recall.
There are a few other TPB's out there that'll get you some Society goodness plus a lot of other sound stories (and, admittedly, some silliness).
*Captain America: The Captain TPB (covers the time when Steve stopped being Captain America and wore the red, white and black uniform of the Captain while John Walker - later USAgent - became Captain America; ties together a lot of things that had been going on behind the scenes.)
*Captain America: Scourge of the Underworld (not a -lot- of Society in it, but it should cover Death Adder's assassination, plus the Scourge sub-plot was an overall cool storyline...read this before you read "The Captain" TPB)
*Captain America: Bloodstone Hunt (only real Serpent Society stuff here is that Diamondback becomes pretty much a full-time supporting cast member, but excellent fun with Crossbones, Baron Zemo, etc.)
*Captain America: Man & Wolf (Nightshade - now in the Captain America Heroclix set - turns Cap into a werewolf; it's some pretty silly stuff and only real ties to the Society would be a bit of attention on Black Mamba, Asp and Diamondback...I think Anaconda appears as well).
*Captain America: Fighting Chance (couple TPBs here, like "Acceptance" and "Denial" and their time period should have some decent Serpent Society appearances in them. Basically Cap's Super-Soldier Serum is killing him and he's trying to take care of "loose ends" before his time is up).
*Captain America: Streets of Poison (Cap dealing with the Kingpin, Daredevil, Bullseye, etc. Main Serpent Society connection is, again, Diamondback is pretty much a full-time supporting cast member here)
'Fraid I didn't put these in much of a proper order but, rather, as I remembered what stuff was available in TPB (looked them up a few months back thinking that it'd be nice to have them as back-ups to the original comic issues sitting around in boxes somewhere).
Basically, go look for Captain America stories by Mark Gruenwald and you're on to a good start.
For those wondering to which gimmick I refer: basically the Serpent Society was to be ran as a business/corporation. In return for the criminals turning in part of their profits or pooling their money from jobs Sidewinder finds for them, they, for their loyalty, are ensured of never spending a night in jail.
Makes me glad that we're getting some new Serpent Society pieces in the Cap set. It also makes me feel like I missed a great opportunity when I saw a bunch of the REV ones at my local con a few years ago and didn't get them.
See, I'm one of the people completely ticked-off we didn't get more proper Serpent Society pieces. We got Cobra, whom we've waited a long time to get (basically since Infinity Challenge had Mr. Hyde) and we got Diamondback. Viper briefly took over in a coupe so she technically counts but...it's not the same. Eel was also very briefly - and erroneously, by Sidewinder's own admission - a member, so he'll probably get the keywords. But figures like Death Adder - one of the most visually recognized members - didn't make the cut in the so-called "sub-theme".

While Chaykin's art isn't the greatest at times, the overall story is just going to be like a cold cup of ice in the face at times.

I'm a bit saddened that we didn't get more Society members as well. I was hoping for a Sidewinder remake. Some of the other members like Bushmaster, Puff Adder, Death Adder and whatnot also seem really cool (from what I've read about them online) and would have been welcome in clix. Sucks that we aren't going to be getting more of them in this set. I'm just thankful for the ones we are getting.

Someone who should have realized we would all expect a Town member to be Serpent Society felt a need to point out "So-and-so is Serpent Society". That's the "overly helpful Neutral syndrome" with which many a person has been busted.
Furthermore, both K-Ness and KOBO are claiming -very- tenuous connections to the Town theme. K-Ness, in fact, is claiming a member from -outside- the time frame Stan gave for this game.
Your defense of them by trying to say I'm twisting when I'm outright pointing things out is, frankly, scummy.

It would take guts to pick somebody out of thin air and not pick one where there was an immediate "bs" call, so I tend to believe them all at this point. Time frame aside; they all feel legit. We just need to be productive. We've had 3 role claims today so I'm certain we've met that threshold, FWIW. That said, a power claim from KOBO cannot hurt.

Yeah, I don't see Stan packing large artillery around so I wouldn't expect cannons to be a huge part of this.

I know that there are a lot of roles that typically get classified as "Town" or "Mafia" only. I, for one, hate this type of meta-gaming. As such, I've removed any affiliation limits to roles in all of my games. Hence why there was a town pusher in Clix Mafia and why Suga has a Day Ended ability in Chrono Trigger.
We've grown to rely on metagaming so much that we have to remove some established facets of the game in order to keep the true spirit of the game alive.
And yes, I realize that I am metagaming in my comment here. :p

My problem with KOBO's power is it's a darn easy power to say any info we get on him is actually results on another person. Couple that with a weak character claim and it's a bad combo.
Mind you, K-Ness' claiming of a character who isn't even in the comics during the period Stan says he's using is possibly worse, especially since KN then goes on to try and hint Vanilla.

I'm not claiming vanilla. Princess Python is POWERLESS. She has a tazer and a few different pythons from time to time. It's from all of the research that I've done on her since I know pretty much nothing about this whole game. I know what you're doing to me, Rokk. The only thing that confuses me about it is why.

Doesn't matter if your character is powerless - much of the squad is except for gadgets or bionic replacements (like my character) - it's whether your role is and you know that's what we are asking.
Otherwise, without providing decent info, all you've done is claim a non-Society member who wasn't even around for that run.
The whole trying to paint me as not Town for pressuring you is usually a decent sign of someone being scummy and wanting the light pointed away.

The serpents scoured the compound in search of their foes, but even with their numbers they couldn't seem to effectively track anyone down. They were much more adept at arguing amongst themselves.

Night 1:
A shield came flying out of nowhere and bashed into a woman, sending her sprawling. After a few minutes, she got to her feet, and stumbled a bit, and continued on her way. Later she would nurse the gash in her scalp from the attack.
A bald man with a long tail instead of legs stood conversing with his handicapable partner. At first, his partner watched his mouth intently as he spoke. Then his gaze shifted slightly over the tailed man's shoulder. A shadow seemed to mold itself into the form of a familiar face. The shadow whispered something inaudible and the man lashed out at his partner. He stepped back and bent forward plunging his bionic tail into the chest of his snake-like partner. The bald legless man dropped to the floor, dead on the spot while his deaf partner continued his exchange with the shadow. After a moment, the deaf man wrapped his bionic tail around his own neck and *snap*. The shadow dissipated into the night. The two partners lay there dead as a hooded man aimed his staff at them. The horns of the ram's head vibrated as a pink aura turned into a beam of light. The light washed over the two fallen snakes. Before the deed could be completed, a man howled and burst from his hiding place. The moonlight from a skylight washed over him as he barreled into the hooded man. His attack rendered the hooded man unconscious, and he turned his attention to the two fallen snake men. Unsure if the hooded man had succeeded; he tore the snake men to pieces before leaving with their heads. There would be no questions whether or not he had accomplished his goal. Rokk_Krinn is dead. He was Bushmaster & The Rattler. Alignment: Serpent Society.

You mean the different guys representing the astrological signs that fought the WCA? Scorpio & crew? Where do you see that?
I'm not sure who that shadow figure is but that definitely looks like Cap-wolf in the write up.
And that also looks like Cap making a doctored hit in the first part.

Is anyone else reading the write-up as Rokk getting double tapped? One person kills him, another tries to doctor or perhaps janitor the kill, and someone else comes along and spoils it, also trying to make a kill? That would explain the lack of deaths. 26 person game and night 1 has only 1 death? Highly unlikely.
Curious about the other two bits of thw write-up, very vague and cryptic.
