Perhaps this is something to be asked of the WizKids folk...but recently my local venue has become so fed up with the plethora of Ultron/Doombot/Robin/Intergang Medic combos he has pondered limiting force to a total of two team abilities, MAX.

I like the idea...it certainly would be challenging and more creative.

What do ya think? Should there be an "anything goes" mindset for hosts of tournaments and let attendance sort out what works and what doesn't?

Or should WizKids mandate that anyone can play anything and the inevitable hordes of cheez can rule as they may?

Officially mixing Marvel and DC isn't allowed for tournaments.
As long as everyone knows your house rules(only X number of teams, no mixing heroes with villians, etc) before the tournament begins everything is cool though.

Uhm, mixing IS legal for tournament play....

There are several ways of fixing the problem:

1. Make the tournament Marvel or DC only
2. Run tournaments that give bonus points for running straight teams with one "independent" (aka no affiliation). So if someone ran an X-Men team with a Moondragon, they would get 200 extra points, for example.
3. Run it such that DC and Marvel team abilities don't cross over, hence you wouldn't have the batman/minions of doom/spider-man teams that you would see.
4. Make a game that uses only 50+ point figures (or if you want, 75 or 100+ point figures)
5. Of course making it 2 teams maximum might help, but if the problem is having stealthed range guys like Ultron/Annihilus/Dr. Doom, then that's really not fixing the problem.

Hope some of the ideas might help you out.

You can make tournaments really whatever you want. The place that runs a weekly tounrament that I go to holds a different kind every week. This week is straight up, but last week was 300 pts no characters under 100 pts.
