I would rate this figure higher but I can't imagine wanting to play a figure that just sits in your DZ waiting to thaw. He has one heck of a dial once he starts.
Well... only 4 turns, which is better. It's really not so much worse than activation-clicks without the ability to pulse wave 'em: turn 1 take an action, turn 2 push, turn 3 clear, turn 4 do the stuff the figure's supposed to do. The major drawback is that he starts in your starting zone instead of being moved into position for those turns.
The other part of the trait is practically a BENEFIT. It's not hard to punish your opponent for overextending into your starting area trying to keep less than 1/4th of your team off the board.

Team him up with a bunch of low cost pieces and thaw him out turn one.
It would be nice if an adjacent friendly character could also take a power action to turn the dial one click. Sounds like an interesting piece to use. The dial is great once he's thawed out, but can your team survive for 4 turns without one of your higher cost models in it?

If 68 points is "one of your higher cost models" then...no. Probably not.

Pulse wave ignores all game traits so Pulse wave him on turn 3 on that 4th click and watch him get hurt really bad.
Also will have to be errata so he cannot be supported back into ice. Because as it stands right now his starting dial is ice and no numbers ;)

I imagine the main advantage is that because the starting clicks have virtually no stats and the "good" clicks are at the back, you're paying a lot less for the figure than you would otherwise for a character with his powers and stats had they been at the front of the dial

Start the game with Ultron and icecap next to eachother with no one else in range and pulsewave once then cap can move first turn. Also expect errata to say this trait can't be ignored.

To those debating the pulsewave shenanigans... How exactly do you plan to hit him? Pulsewave states that you make a single ranged attack roll and compare it to the defense values of all characters in range. Cap has no defense values on his "ice" clix to compare against. In my eyes that would rule that he can't be made the target of pulsewave (which is quite obviously the whole point of the figures opening clix) much like the way an object isn't considered a target in a pulsewave.
As for those questioning his Strategic value, it's really not that bad. He breaks out of his capsule at the start of your 4th turn and is able to act immediately. Spend your first 3 turns strategically positioning your team around cap instead of advancing up the map. Either your opponent comes to you and by the time they reach you, most of the time Cap will be free and ready to roll, or they sit back and wait for cap to be free and then it's basically just starting fresh from there. I think people are reading it as taking 5 turns before cap is free, which is not the case at all.

I just randomly pulled this figure from the only booster I've bought for Captain America set so far. The card reads that while in his ice sheath he cannot be damaged, targeted, on top of any other actions possible. There went the pulse wave theory.
Cap on Ice, so nice. Along with the start of the F4, Cap thawing out of the ice and joining the Avengers propelled Marvel to worldwide domination of the comics market. To this day there hasn't been a comics creative team even in the same universe as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This is the most must-have fig ever for me. Great dial too. :)

Please help, I really donīt understand how can I use this piece...whatīs the trick or the strategy??No, you pretty much nailed it, because there's not really any "strategy" there to use. You willingly give your opponent a 68 point advantage for three full turns, during which time they can prepare themselves for Cap's inevitable appearance in the square he currently doesn't really occupy. Friggin' awesome. If your opponent can't make the most of such an advantage in three turns, you'd have beaten them even faster with a piece you could use on the first turn anyway. I'm sure he looks awesome on a shelf, though.

If you haven't played or played against Ice-Cap or Weapon X I think it's really hard to judge how they will play. Upon reading the mechanic I thought that it would take forever to get them into play, giving your opponent a serious advantage. But after playing them I have to say they both rock. I pulled them both at my sealed event (I know that's totally ridiculous) and I played them both. They come out to 140 together, leaving me room for nothing special: Nomad, SHIELD Specialist, and Batroc. Cap was my MVP but neither him nor Weapon X got KOed. Oh, and I won the tourney, a venue with a dozen seasoned clixers. So, I feel I can firmly say that these two should not be underestimated.

fourth turn you can use him. not too bad. especially with those combat values. 12 attack on a 68 point piece is great even if you have to wait. and is like having to worry about an activation click. fourth turn he becomes something for your opponent to actually worry about. on higher point games you won't notice the missing 68 points as much.

i think this piece is awesome, and its one of my top want from the set, but i question the avengers keyword on this piece, i know he was a member soon after he thawed, but literally right when he thawed he was a member? lol

pulsewave
All game effects possessed or used by other characters with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved.
Chiyo: new player's guide says this trait (and Weapon X's) cannot be ignored.

Cap, Namor, and Jim Hammond Torch. Marvels first three big guys. 303 points WHY DO THEY DO THAT!!! Invaders ATA cost -1 points and no effect?

One heck of a figure, pulled him in a booster buy, and took out tons of figures, the only problem i had with him was that he only has 6 clicks after thawing. and his first is a pretty slow start as far as movement is concerne, but 12 power, thats ridiculous.

i pulled this cap in my sealed tourney too and i had made a aveger team with him and steve roger and luke cage they where down i think 35 points so i was way under for the 300 points we had to use, there was about 7 other players thats played long then me and i still won with cao only getting KOed by any ice cap in the last round. But to win the tourny and it being my first win the fig plays good so im happy with it:a-fist:

This is probably the sickest fig in the game in the 60 points range. He's just lethal. And it's the most comic accurate version of how he throws his shield incorporated into a special power.
