View Full Version : When will we have Onslaught?
Yes, that's right. I want an Onslaught figure. He would be so awesome! Probably just wishful thinking, but still...

Onslaught would be keen! I'm all about an Onslaught figure as long as they included the rest of the Combaticons -- Vortex, Swindle, Brawl, and Blast Off.
That would be sweet.
What? :D
I"m not buying that set if Jazz isn't in it...
oh...not that onslaught?
I'll take the Transformers Onslaught over the Marvel Onslaught in a NY minute.
I'm sorry, I know there are a lot of Onslaught fans out there, but after the story building of "Who is Onslaught?" month after month and then it's revealed to to be a composite of XAVIER and Magneto? Cliche and lame ..... I quit reading X-men I was so dissappointed .... I just started reading it again, now that Grant Morrison is writing it ....

hear, hear, bizarro! onslaught was the reason i gave up reading comics - complete disappointment. there are so many bigger fish to fry in the marvelverse before we even *contemplate* onslaught.

yep..
Onslaught is a big NO in my book.
not really worth reading aboot (even worse: the later "alive" Cerebro ! ).
Secret Wars and Infinity wars (gauntlet,Crusade) where way better stories !!

Gotta support bullseye100 & TedO, enjoyed the Onslaught story. Where Marvel ultimately took it was pure insanity. But remember they also attempted to kill Spidey with that Clone Saga insanity. Character was cool, his henchmen were cool, Holocaust, now Nemesis and Post. I'd like to see all three.

Onslaught is the reason I quit reading Marvel. Would the creation of an Onslaught clix make me quit buying Heroclix? Hmm I'm not sure, probably not since I can just avoid him lameness.

Without opening a potential can of worms, can people describe what exactly they didn't like about the character or the storyline or both. I've endured Marvel's crazy storylines since I was six, but I'm just curious what others thought.

Onslaught's also the reason I stopped reading comic books for years. I enjoyed alot of the build up and the henchmen, but was thoroughly unsatisfied with the storyline once onslaught became a real character rather than some faceless entity tossing the juggernaut across half a continent.
I was hoping for something along the lines of Doomsday who would wade through much of the marvel universe in epic battles and leave a few of them broken behind him. Sort of a house cleaning (which the x-books in particular needed) letting some older characters fade away in death or evolve into new roles based on the experience or atleast exit the spotlight while they spend months recovering from the wounds, let some of the newer ones take center stage.
Instead, they went very goofy with it.
Why not just make a Marvel/DC mixed expansion called Characters-that-are-way-too-powerful? We could have Onslaught, Galactus, Thanos with the Gauntlet, Red Skull with the Cosmic Cube, the Beyonder, Parallax, Ion, Imperiex, Captain Universe Spidey, the Spectre, King Thor, and plenty more that I haven't mentioned. I'd buy it!

The Onslaught story was awesome, and it truly showed what Xavier was capable of if he really pulled out all the cards. Unfortunately he could not be illustrated w/o some sick amount of points.

I as well want the Onslaught. What exactly is chiche' about a piece of Magneto's Psyche infecting and twisting Xavier? As far as I recall, I don't remember many times where that has happened in comics or otherwise. Plenty of mind control stories, but this was different in that Xavier was almost being mind controlled by his own mind, or at least part of it.
I'd be happy to have an Onslaught figure, especially if pieces of the armor came off to reveal stage II Onslaught.
If the story would have been a Marvel version of Doomsday, then everyone would have ripped it for being a Marvel version of Doomsday. Besides, World War Hulk took care of that for ya, well without the killing of a character who would be brought back almost instantly after tons of publicity.
Let's just hope Bruce Wayne stays dead for at least like 3 years before reappearing.

Hard to believe Marvel would have a problem with Onslaught when we've already been subjected to the awful Sentry twice and the garbage known as Red Hulk is inevitable. What's the difference between that sewage and Onslaught?

I... really can't argue against that. I didn't/don't want to see any of them, but they're all fairly terrible.
The only special distinction for me concerning Onslaught is he was a lead-in to what I halfway think of as Ultimates - Take One -- the wretched fan betrayal that was the Heroes Reborn project.
All that said, in the end I don't mind the other fans getting what they want in terms of comics into Clix.

Don't blame Onslaught for that! That's all Franklin Richards doing! If Onslaught had his way, everyone would be dead! D-E-D, dead!

Those truly to blame were the "editors" and bean counters behind the scenes at Marvel who were still desperately trying to get back investment-driven sales figures that would and should never return and decided that turning multiple titles over to the Image folk and letting them do hard reboots was something to try.

POWER LEVELS 95.21%
Anyway, given Onslaught's the power level, would any of those fans really want to see a version that wasn't on a colossal figure base?
I suppose it then comes down to what will be the most effective way to handle it. Would it rise to the level of being a good choice for an Action Pack? A convention "exclusive"*? A special mail-away piece? It's always tough to figure out what sort of demand such a thing would have, but if they made it a colossal they'd have a better chance of attracting the attention of people who might even just want the sculpt.
* With plans to make them available for general sale 6 or more months later.

Hell I was disappointed Heroes Reborn ended I much prefered that stream lined proto Ultimates universe.
If I had to do Onslaught I'd go with a Galactus style three dial figure and he should be a boxed set with Heralds of Onslaught figures Dark Beast, The Hulk, Blob, and Mimic.
Its too bad they flubbed Heroes reborn so badly.
The idea was a good one: send all the classic Marvel Heroes into a little pocket dimension to form an eternal classic core, while at the same time taking them all out of the 616 universe to allow it to move on and evolve... It was a good idea I think; undone by horrible writing and terrible art.
that'll do it.

Onslaught's SPECIAL POWER would be:
HERO'S REBORN: When Onslaught KO's a hero from the Marvel Universe, replace them on the board with an equally priced and same named Ultimates version.

Onslaught was awesome and i would love him, pre-insectoid though. So many X-Men badguys are sorely needed and he is inthe top 5. It took The Avengers, Fantastic Four and Hulk's combined strength and lives to stop him.
Way to many ppl quick to hate around here.
Onslaught was reason i started read comics, in fact marvel universe:onslaught is my fav comic. Although i hate heros reborn, but i love onsluaught i would love to see an onslaught click

Can someone help me; I'm trying to think of the name of a Marvel character, whose name I thought was Onslaught but isn't, who has a kind of "bubble head" like Mysterio, and whose outfit is red? I think Vulcan or Hyperion or someone really powerful broke open his glass "head bubble" and killed him. Maybe he's a gaseous entity who is contained in a suit, similar to Johann Krauss? Help?

I'm pretty shocked that there is ANY desire/support for this character. I'm personally dead set against Onslaught. He's pretty much on a list of characters that should never be made. That's just me though.
Now, why this thread is not a cry for a REAL Magneto to be made in clix is beyond me.

His name was Holocaust and he was killed by King Hyperion in one of the Exiles comics. That was a fun read as for the Exiles, he was the strongest member of the team. When Hyperion drank him, the rest of the team had that Oh $#!T look on their faces.
I think the thing with Onslaught was the secondary effect: It gave Rob Liefeld way too much power to work his limited abilities. Heroes Reborn was a product of his and left a bad taste in a lot of folks mouths. Seriously, go look up Captain Ameriboobs if you don't believe me. ANd, it allowed Rob to come back again with Onslaught vesion 2 which sucked so hard, Jenna Jameson is jealous. Guilt by association.

I will say that there are four good things that came out of the Heroes Reborn story:
1) That AMAZING 13th issue four issue sotry arc with the combined Marvel/Wildstorm universe. Everyone dies and Rick Jones saves the Universe!
2) It did away with the teenage Tony Stark from the almost as bad "The Crossing" Avengers arc.
3) Anytime anyone use "Counter Earth" in a storyline since ( especially when Dr. Doom conquered it and called it "Planet Doom" )
4) It turns out that the reason Hawkeye had the weird brown costume in Heroes Reborn was because he was actually Wolverine. ( See Onslaught Reborn miniseries ). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_versions_of_Wolverine#Counter_Earth

yeah it goes to show u that every universe needs a wolverine. i didnt really like that about hawkeye=wolverine, mainly bcus the heros in that unversie where the one from the 616 unverse that jumped into onslaughts thought cloud to give him a body and wolvie and quicksilver was about leap when reed stops them sayin that mutant would only make onslaught stronger not weaker and that the only reason scarlet witch wasnt effectin onslaught was bcus of her hex powers. so wolvie wasnt suppose to be there and the hawkeye that was suppose be in that universe was clint not logan.

I didn't mind Onslaught as a character but the story associated with him leading to the Heroes Reborn Universe was a lot of carp to me. He shouldn't have stood a chance against Franklin Richards and his evolution to his final form was just too stupid because that's what he started out as. If they had made a better story out of it then, he would've really stood out as a great villain. But then, they do a follow-up written by Loeb and drawn by Liefield.....the blood runs out of most peoples ears and eyes just thinking about it! Elements of the character and story were great imho! I'd still like to see/have a clix of him. I've got Superboy/Conner Kent and he's the same thing to a lesser extant, Superman combined with his worst enemy Lex Luthor. The story in itself was just garbage. Lots of people hated the Clone Saga but, still loved Ben Reilly. If Marvel had handled that story right, instead of planning to rob Pete of his powers and then just shuffle him, MJ and the baby off to neverland, they could've continued to build on his relationship with Ben. Plus, at the time, Spider-Man had FOUR books out. Two could have been featuring Ben as Spider-Man for the fans who wanted a single Spider-Man again and Peter could've been in the other two books for fans who wanted to see Spider-Man and his family grow. They could've made an ongoing joke with all of the villains about why Spider-Man kept switching costumes every time they fought, "I see you're wearing your webshooters on the outside of your costume again, arachnid. It must be Tuesday!".
If you put what most people consider bad/carp characters in consistantly good stories, then, people start seeing them better. Look at all the C-Z List characters that have really shined in Avengers: The Initiative. On the other hand, you have a fantastic character like Superman but, as he was pre-Crisis, I just got SICK of him after awhile. He could virtually do anything. The only thing he couldn't do was find a way to permanently give Lois Lane super powers like him. Him and Supergirl were just ridunkulous! Her villain Blackstar had the universe try to crush her from both sides so, Supergirl marshalled her strength and like Samson toppling the pillars he was chained to, pushed back the universe from crushing her. It was at that point I officially stopped getting Superman comics until COIE came out and "Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow". Even when John Byrne revisited that uber Superman in Generations, the story he was in made him interesting and great to me. If the main story arc that a character is in sux then, he usually becomes infamous. If a character is featured in a really, really good story, he becomes famous.

That is the one thing i like about he DC sets is all the main "families" are usually represented, Supes Bats GL Flash Titans Wonder, There is always something for everyone in each set. See I'm something of a progressive and think that every 15-20 years the the star of a particular title should just step aside (with certain execptions of course) and let the new guy take over. Again Heroes Reborn had good art, some good stories, and I wish the two universe had remained split. Because by taking away the mutants it gave the rest of the Marvel Universe something they hadn't had in a long time that something was was UNITY. Every title was connected and fresh sure we knew the names but they felt like new charactors again. Frankly I would have liked some of Marvel's charactors to have been just out right killed and replaced by Skrulls. Only to find out the imposters are here to help Earth's heroes stop the new breed of Super Skrull.

I would like to think that I would never say "Please don't make figure 'X' ever". I believe that every character has their fans, and that all fans should see their favorites made in Heroclix.
Having said that, were I ever placed in a situation wherein I got to choose if Onslaught or another character were to be made, I would most likely choose the other figure.
There are many characters that should be made, again IMO, before we see the psychic lovechild of Xavier and Mags. :p ;)
