Despite my disappointment in the character selection for Captain America I still had a great time at the Marquee.
I ended up going with a case figuring that a Chase regardless of pull would still allow me to trade well and a brick without a chase might not be the best play. I dont really care for any of the chases except for Cap on Ice which I could live without.
So before I opened my case I informed everyone that Cap in Ice would be my ideal pull. Based on HCR rumors I busted one pack from the middle and sure enough the first figure staring at me was Cap on Ice (so I was happy).
So then without opening any other boosters I got my 2 additional sealed boosters from the store and prepped for the event.
We had a pretty large turnout. I havent been able to play much over the past two years, but with my wife and family on vacation July was bound to be fun. I would say though that it looked like we had about 4 or 5 people that dont usually come which was fun and suprising and good for the game.
Well on to my pulls. I pulled a Malestrom in my first pack and after dial twisting I realized that was a pretty sick pull. One that I felt pretty dirty about. I had a few options for the remaining 75 points and despite my apathy for HATE, I decided to pair him up with Dirk Angerer.
Seems pretty busted and I would consider my self a decent enough player.
Sure enough though in round 1 I faced a really good player who seemed to have drawn my bane...Invisible Woman and Gorgon and some tie up material. Despite my efforts I missed Gorgon and had to settle with 3 to the SHIELD piece. Which left Gorgon laying the first real smack down of the game. He landed a clean EW shot for 6 BCF after PC and that was pretty much the begining of the end after I missed my next shot.
The next round I played against his Dad also a really good player. But his team was a much easier matchup for me. Bucky Cap, Yelena, Falcon, and Phobos.
I played pretty well knowning that I primarily needed to take care of Phobos first as he based Malestrom. I beat him down a little getting him to PC, but missed after that. They moved in an swung back landing Malestrom on his sweet click. I exploited my HSS staying away and taking pot shots tripple bolted at his team. But as the dice were set to do on this day they were awful. I rolled nothing but 4's and couldnt hit the brick wall behind my targets.
Still I kept plenty of distance and yet they were able to plod on up and take a pot shot...Hitting back to back 10's on their all-in shots and that was all she wrote.

Gracefully I played against a Squirell Girl, Batroc team in round 3 and was able to force a concession pretty early.
So there it is one of the more Dominant Teams you could pull in the packs and a 1-2 finish to show for it.
Still good times; it was a blast playing with friends and having fun!!!
I did finish opening my case and was well pleased for the most part...a full CUR set...MODOK, a second Malestrom, and decent SRs. Hopefully I will be able to trade Squirlly Girl to get a Baron Zemo and I should be happy enough with the set.
