I have a question about certain optional abilities that I was hoping that I could get an answer for:
I have an experienced Captain America in hindering. He is effectively Stealthed. Catpain A makes an attack against an opponent and misses. Can a friendly character with Probibility Control use their ability while Captian is in stealth.
So the question is: Can friendly characters draw line of fire to each other regaurdless of abilities such as stealth?
Would I have to turn off Stealth to make moves like this legal? Or can I use abilities like prob control and perplex on my stealthed characters who are in hindering as I choose?
I believe the FAQ says you can turn on and off super powers anytime.

iF A CHARACTER HAS STEALTH AND A PROBABILITY CHARACTER IS AT DISTANce they can not see your stealth character. The character must have stealth though. Hindering terrain is only hindering terrain and can be targeted by (perplexers, outwitters, and Probability types) I dont know cap all that well and was not aware he had stealth. So while you could not target a Black Panther or Elektra or anyone with the Batman Team ability you could definitely target a Shield agent a Bullseye or anyother character in hindering terrain who does not have stealth. I hope that helps and I am sorry for the Caps in the beginning of this post. - Terrence

I took the time to look up E Captain American he does have stealth and as a result should not be able to be affected by a probability type character unless that character is directly adjacent to him. and at that point Cap cant make a ranged attack anyway. Again I hope this helped. - Terrence

I know you can turn off stealth, so he SHOULD be able to use probability control with a character in stealth.
The only question I'd ask is, does this constitute turning off a power in the middle of a turn? For example, you can't use outwit in the middle of an action. Say you do a running shot carrying a figure with outwit, you can't do the move (in this case the half movement) turn off a power and then shoot. But if this situation you are describing would constitute using a power in the middle of an action, wouldn't probability control in general ALWAYS be used in the middle of an action.
So after all that rambling, I'd have to say you CAN do it if you are probability controlling your own figure, but you couldn't do it if you were probability controlling an opposing stealth figure.
Hope you can make sense out of that.

The rule says you can turn off an optional power at any time. Stealth is optional, so it can be turned off anytime, I would assume this would mean even during an action. So while it can not be turned on at any time it can be turned off mid action.

Super powers are in effect as long as they appear in the stat slot. If a super power is described as optional, it is assumed that the character is using that power unless the player controlling that character states that the power is being canceled. The owning player may cancel the effect at any time, in which case it is canceled until the end of the current turn. At the beginning of the next turn, it is assumed to be in effect again.
FAQ
1) If a power is described as optional the controlling player can cancel the power at any time
So yes you can Probability Control some one in stealth.

you can turn off stealth only on one condition and when you think about it it will make sense to you. For instance .... If Black Panther Rookie is standing with in 10 spaces on your character and you have line of sight to him and he is not on a hindering terrain marker or object therefore not hidden within or behind anything he can have his stealth outwitted. It will remain outwitted for that turn and concievebly as long as the opponent continues to declare every turn there after. Meaning you do not outwit any other target and only out wit that ability on that character. - Terrence

The "turning off" here isn't about Outwit, though. It is about the voluntary turning off of an optoinal power. And Outwit/Perplex/PC is not possible against a Stealthed figure, even when adjacent. It still requires LoF and Stealth still prevents LoF from being established.

After the dice have been rolled, you may turn off Stealth to allow your own Probability Control, yes. It will then remain off for the rest of the turn, meaning that if your opponent has a PC character appropriately placed, he will also be able to draw LoF to your Cap.

When you say it is off until the end of the turn, do you mean the end of your turn or do you mean it is off until your next turn starts? In other words, if I "turn off" stealth to perplex Batman from a distance, would he then be "unstealthed" for my opponents turn or would it turn back on when my current turn ended?

When you current turn ends... then all power/abilities declare to be voluntarily turned 'off' would be turned back on.
Does this make sense?

Tsannik's on it....
If you turn off a power/team ability on your turn, it remains off until the end of your turn. If you turn it off on your opponent's turn, it stays off until the end of his turn.
