Hey,

I haven't found any set paramaters on themes for the Xplosion marquee tournament. Do any of the other judges know if we can just work with the venue and come up with our own objective and themes.

Because I really am considering doing a massive Sentinal Assault on the mansion.

You could use the pool and home map that comes with the indoor set, and do the classic Clairmont We are just Swimming X-men scene and ...Sentinels attack!

Who knows what friends and family the X-men invited for the Barbicue, so you get to throw in other Marvel characters, but keep the focus X-men Vs. Sentinels.

any thoughts?

Marquees are sealed events.

Any early bets on who the "power pull" of the X-plosion Marquee will be? Some of my playgroup think Mandarin V, some others Crimson Dynamo V, heck I think that even Abomination V can be a rock solid pull. :)

Thoughts?

Any Mandarin may well be the Power Pull. 12 range is great on the Vet, but the starting Outwit means he can deal with Defensive Super Powers, which I think are the hardest thing to deal with in a Sealed Event. Invulnerability can be near impossible to deal with in Sealed, and he can not only make it go away, but then light them up afterwards.

My power pull choices:

Exp & Vet Psylocke. Affordable, good ranged & close attack, enhancement does wonders.

Any Mandarin (expensive but probably worth it)

Vet Silver Samurai (pull him and any version of Shadowcat to taxi him around and you are GOD)

Taskmaster: Any. Cheap MOD, tons of abilities. Nifty.

U-Sauron

U-Deathbird

And the figures I say to avoid or at least seriously think twice about:

IRON MAN: ANY!!! Too expensive, his Av is too unlikely to hit, and in this limited format you won't be able to get enough guys to help boost him and keep him in his best stats.

SWAT generics: Too expensive with very little effect. Yet still better than Black Manta, not that it says much.

Shadowcat will be huge, especially if the same player pulls some ranged attackers. With the ranged guys the player has an advantage outdoors while Shadowcat will own any indoor map.

Mandarain as mentioned has the fire power and outwit to take down anyone.

Psylocke will absolutely own an outdoor map if she can be stealthed on a rooftop.

Taskmaster is a more than adequate brawler.

Green Goblin will be a great figure to pull in the Marquee. Any hard hitters or BCFers with decent numbers paired with him will do some nasty work.

I'd really like to pull a Con Artist or two for obvious reasons. I also like Doc Sampson. Charge and perplex is cool.

And I think the U Green Goblin will become a much sought out for Taxi.

Ditto on Mandarin, Taskmaster, Sauron, and Deathbird.

Of course, pulling a cheap Paramedic would rule too!

it's not really any single character that makes a team. it's being able to pull two solid hitters, two taxi's and a paramedic that'll decide the tourney.

my ideal pull is vet taskmaster, any shadowcat, vet silver samuria and a vet storm (and any paramedic, and possibly a rookie destiny, if space allows....).

and really, i hope somebody i play against pulls a savage hulk.....cuz at 201pts it can't be used in the tourney (and i'll just savor how much that guy'll complain about it, over and over and over).

Heck,

I hope I pull a Savage Hulk.

Yeah, I'll say, "Oh, darn" I can't use him in the tourney, but now I've got a Savage Hulk. Better 201 where he isn't even an option than a 198 Dr. Doom where he can be used but you have no shot with him.

I think Gambit will be a great fig for the marquee or any tournament prize. I think that all the LE's for Xplosion will be X-Men. Here are some LE Ideas:

Remy LeBeau
Betsy Bradock
Kitty Pride
Henry McCoy
Orro Monroe
Piotr Rasputin

just to tame a few...:D

All of the Limited Edition figures are not X-Men. In fact, only half of the ones you listed are in limited edition form (there is no Remy LeBeau either).

Yes this is 100% true, but the odds of getting such generous pulls is very slim. The odds of pulling a Vet Mandarin in 3 or so boosters is much better. ;)

Let's see... that's a minimum of 75+40+52+8+20+28 which is 223, sorry malchyor. :( That plus a little more would be an awesome set-up though in a 300 point sealed event!

Even though, I'd still be jealous of the fact that he actually pulled a Savage Hulk while I didn't! ;) But that is actually something I'd like to try sometime, playing a fun 200 point team against the Savage Hulk! Should be a riot!

Actually, the judge might let someone use their Savage Hulk, Especially If the other figures they pull are not even close to 200 points. Still, they wouldn't have much hope in winning with just one character, but it would be fun to watch. ;)

I know it's sealed, But we know there are going to be LOTS of x-men pulled.

I'm still toying with the "house" being sentinels, and the Players pulling from sealed boxes.

That way Arch enemy point rules, will really matter.

Granted, the SWAT *Officers* are more overpriced Incapacitate junk. WizKids seriously needs to tweak the power cost or stop producing figures with Incap. But the SWAT *Specialists*... 3 Damage at 6 Range for 17-22 points. I'm seriously hoping to pull a Specialist for the Marquee.

Of course, that's if I play. I'm pretty ticked about the no 2nd place thing.

Xorn,

The problem there is that you really cripple the guy who pulls no X-men out of his two boosters. A very real possibility. While everyone else can easily defeat a 200pt sentinel with any army they want then finish the sentinel off with their lone X-man. The poor player who gets no X-men will only receive 200pts per win where anyone with an X-man will most likely get 400.

That sounds like a big discrepancy to me.
