Is amazing, and apparently the majority of the people at the Convention thought so too. As WK sold out of their stock for Thursday and Friday, at around 2 or 3. I don't know if they sold out Saturday or Sunday, but with the trend and the amount of people I saw playing and carrying it. I would say there's a good chance that it did.

I don't know if it was the buzz of the con, but it was rather close.

The Rules are incredibly simple (I opened it up and saw the rulebook was like 5 pages long), and the game is fast, and its all about rolling dice, and who doesn't like that?

Anyone else pick this up that went to the Con or is planning to when it comes out?

I just tried to search Quarriors on Ebay to see if anyone from the con was selling. Ebay keeps automatically changing it to warriors.... grr

Doesn't it come out soon? You shouldn't need to go to eBay for it. I found it on CCGArmory for a decent price.

Grrr. We have a demo set at the store, and have for weeks, but the boss won't let us open it up and play a demo with it.

I played a demo with the coolest guy at the con, munchboy, it was pretty fun. I just don't know that I would get to ever play it with anyone in my area. But it's definitely a cool game, with good mechanics. I'd get it in a heart beat if I knew others would play.

From the guys I was playing with is that its a dice building game like Dragon Dice, but Dragon Dice is much more complicated.

The comparison they kept bringing up was Dominion with dice.

What's the point of a demo set that isn't being used for demos? : - )

Don't think I haven't wondered the same thing. It's not worth arguing about, though, since the copy I ordered for myself will be available before too long.

I could have sworn it was out before the con, I've seen people playing it outside of Dallas.

O.K. It is almost two-thirty in the morning here. Quarriors kept me up this late.

I bought the game last Friday, but I worked all weekend, so I didn't really have the time to play the game or even get into the directions again. Tonight, Sunday night, I went over to a friend's house who also bought the game. He and his wife played it twice and she beat him both times. I got there and the three of us played twice more. She won both times, so she is 4 for 4.

I left between 10 and 10:30 pm and came home. My roommate was here and I told him it was easy to learn and asked if he wanted to play. We got rolling (literally) and it was so fun we just kept playing. We played 4 games in a row, I lost all but the final one.

My point --> The game is simple to learn, easy to understand, but fun enough to play that it is hard to stop at just one game. Honestly, it is not the most strategic of games, being heavily dependent upon luck, but even knowing that, I had a really good time playing this.

It is very family-friendly and far less confusing than it looks. There's a lot to be said for a game with lots of cool, colored dice featuring lots of weird symbols.

I really need to go to bed now.

A friend and me played this game off a demo at the store we Heroclix at and it was very, very good! You notice it is a fast game once you get it down and I played two person and three person games and I have to say, it's so much better with only two players. (still very good with three though):p

They said there are expansions in the future. I mean I don't think they are going to release them less then a week after the game came out, but they are planned.

I also have the Quarriors bug! It's an awesome game. Like has been said, it's easy to learn, it doesn't require a lot of time. You can play one game in 20 minutes. But you never want to play just one. I haven't played with more then 2 people yet though, can't wait for that.

My buddy and I played thru every card. We just played a game, set those aside, and drew new cards for the next game. If you get a Dragon then you pretty much win in 2 player. Portals are huge, we found ourselves taking those first even if we rolled a 7 on our first turn. Spells can be pretty big too - especially the one that gives you +3 glory. That one is practically an auto-win.

Someone said there's not deep strategy - I sort of disagree. The way you build your "dice deck" plays a huge roll in getting glory. If you do things right you can wittle your deck down to the point where you are getting 2-3 Portals a draw, and can almost for sure get a Dragon or other powerful creature each turn.

But at the same time, it does take luck when you roll. It sucks when you roll 1 under a dragon 3 turns in a row!

There is a strategy, I agree with you. It's all about those first few dice you choose.

Yea it's pretty much portal, portal on your first 2 turns. At least in 2 player. Unless you roll a 8 or 9 and one of the dragons is out. Then I don't see how you pass on it that early. Not sure if you really need 3 portals or not. Man this game rules!

I agree, this game is great. I'll buy it eventually, but dang, $50 seems steep. Easily my favorite "deck building" game. I never liked that mechanic until now.

First expansion is planned for Novermber time-frame. :classic:

Totally.

I like to think of Quarriors as being simple to learn, but almost deceptively complex in terms of strategy.

What I like about the "deck-building" aspect is that you don't actually bring your own deck. No players bringing in crazy overpowered stuff. You play with what gets put on the table and everyone has an equal chance. Well...depending how good their luck is :)

Ill likely be buying it either way because I try to get every dice game I find (with the exception of iron die) but is the price point really 50$?

Fun game I played a lot this weekend after preping the home for the familys return on Wednesday.

I played all formats 2, 3, and 4-player. I have seen Dragons dominate and lose. I have seen Portals effective and two slow. I have seen Pawns (Assistants) do well and be horrible.

I really like the game, although I think the 4-player game may be a little short at 12-points.

I havent played with the promo Quaxos cards yet (the text looks a little daunting). Saving that until we get the core rules down.

A couple of mechanics are a little confusing...

How do multipe Immediate Effect Rerolls work? For example let's say you roll a Portal 2 and a Assistant Re-Roll...Can you reroll the Portal die and what happens if you do?
My current rulling was that you can reroll the Portal die but you cant use the portal 2 that you rolled if you do.

What happens to the Portal 2 die with one dice left in the bag?
Does the portal die go back in the bag to be redrawn with the 2nd portal draw?
I ruled NO, you dont put a die in the used pile until completely resolved.

Culling the guy that scored?
Can you cull the die that scored.
I ruled, YES first that die goes to the Used pile then you can cull that die.

There was also another timing Question about multiple Clone Oozes and how the copying worked?
I dont know exactly what the Question was as I was out of the room at the moment, but if anybody knows of a similar question please post what the question was and how you handled it.

Jarimy123

The active player chooses the order of "immedaite" affects I think. So if you roll a portal and a re-roll, then you can choose which order they go in. So you can re-roll the portal, and if you roll a 2 why wouldn't you choose 2? But why would you re-roll a portal 2?

If you the portal die is being used it doesn't go to the used pile until you roll the 2 dice. So you would pick the 1 die out of the bag, then put the used pile into the bag, then pick 1 more. The portal die wouldn't be in the used pile just yet.

Keep in mind both of the above could be wrong. But I think thats how the rules look.

What Jarimy123 said is correct. You choose which one you want to do first. The rulebook clearly states that the effect do not happen simultaneously. You could choose to roll the Portal die if you wanted to.

What happens to the Portal 2 die with one dice left in the bag?
Does the portal die go back in the bag to be redrawn with the 2nd portal draw?
I ruled NO, you dont put a die in the used pile until completely resolved.
This was incorrect. The rulebook clearly states that in order to use an effect you must "spend" the die. A spent die immidiately goes into your used pile. There is no extra "hold" area. What would happen is you place the Portal die in your used pile to gain the effect. You then draw the 1 remaining die from your bag and then put your used pile (including the recently spent Portal die) back into your bag and draw 1 more die. An example of this is found on page 10 of the rulebook.

Culling the guy that scored?
Can you cull the die that scored.
I ruled, YES first that die goes to the Used pile then you can cull that die.
This was correct. Page 8 of the rulebook explains the steps. First, you score. After scoring you move all scored die to your used pile. After that, THEN, you cull a die. So yes, you could cull a die you just scored.

In the games I played last night, the Quaxos Warrior of the Quay came into play. This is the part that was confusing for us...

"(and can be assigned damage up to its defense value without being destroyed)."

Last night, I kept confusing damage with attack, so we played it wrong. I kept wondering what they were talking about when they mentioned he wouldn't be destroyed.

After a full night's sleep, this makes more sense. All they are saying is that unlike every other creature, when total attack equals their defense, they are not destroyed. Ties go to Quaxos defenders, sort of like in Risk, but not other defenders. Cool.

Now I want my roommate to wake up so we can play again.

deck building games are definitely the current BG FotM. mostly because they are DAMN fun. ;)

changing cards to dice seems to happen every time there's a card trend...and there's a reason for that. we gamers LOVE dice ;)

I'm not surprised it's getting as much attention as it is. one of the guys at my shop got quarriors at gen con...but i was more interested in reading his Twisted Fates and checking out his Avatar Pandora and Seamus.

all that said a few eeks back i read a really good designer diary for the game and some of you folks may enjoy reading it.

Some more Questions about the CLONE Ooze...

If he copies a Dragon how much glory does he score if he survives?
4 Glory (as the Dragon) or 2 Glory (as himself)

How do multiple Clone Oozes work
Ooze #1 comes out and copies a Dragon and then kills the Dragon
Ooze #2 comes out....He copies the Clone Ooze that is copying a Dragon...is Ooze #2 a Dragon?

What happens if Ooze #1 wants to switch to something else before Ooze #2 copies Ooze #1?

I cannot say enough good things about this game. I think my wife even enjoyed playing it. Two of my friends bought it so I did not, but after seeing her understand it and even enjoy it, I am considering picking up my own copy if the price is right. Expansions would be SOOOO easy too. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Wizkids has a hit on their hands here, and I could totally see a "Game of the Year" tag on it next year.

Agreed. They could package 10 new cards and 5 sets of dice and have it be about the same size as a deck cards. It would probably be about $10 an expansion.

5 sets of (custom cut) dice (at 5 dice per set) would cost more than $10 I imagine. ;)

But I agree that more dice, creatures, spells.etc...will be awesome! :)

I am not so sure about that Custom Dice are a little on the pricy side.

Also they would probably want to go about 15 or 20 cards to 5 sets of 5 dice....which is 25 dice....so you are probably looking at a $19.99 price point.

Which would probably fit in a small box about the size of an Old school HeroClix Starter.

The most expensive element is going to be the custom dice print runs.

Well I just played some more games last night with my friend. We got in about 4 games at our local comic store in the 2 1/2 hours we were there before they closed. We probably would have played more if they hadn't had to close.

This game is so much freaking fun. It's so quick and easy to play. I definitely recommend playing it.

I dunno. I think new dice might just complicate the game more, and new cards would be easier to manage overall than a new set of dice. The only way I could see it differently is if they made new colors of dice to go with new classes, but even then I think it might work better (and especially cheaper) to just offer some new cards or play mechanics.

I don't really see how it complicates the game more. You just have more classes to choose from. "Complicates it more" - you feel it's already complicated? Just checking I understand you right or not.

But yea they could just add more cards just as well - but I think adding more dice does the exact same thing, so not sure I can agree with what you are saying as far as complicating the game or anything. Can you explain more how it would? I just can't see it.
