Lone Star Comics in Arlington has prize supported tournaments every Saturday at 5:30 pm.
If you plan on attending but might be a bit late, please let me know and we'll hold things up for you for a reasonable amount of time.
I'll endeavor to put the weekly build scenarios here for each week as far in advance as I have them so feel free to check back regularly.
8-13-10 - NO EVENT THIS WEEK. Apparently a big Warhammer event has booked up the game room. I've been told by store management that they can assure us space from now on if I give them expected numbers for each event ahead of time.
8-20-10 - 300 pt Modern - World's tournament style ! Get any ideas from the big event ? Try them out here.
I will be there. Have a couple of things I may try out.
8-27-10 - 300 pt modern PLUS up to 100 pts from a booster INSTANT TEAM UP !! Kind of a semi sealed. Theme will be determined by the constructed portion.
9-10-11 - 400 point Golden Age no feat cards or battlefield conditions. ATA's will be allowed.

Sure. We love to have new people come by. We are glad to help out during the game if one of us is sitting it out for some reason. We have a newer guy trying to get things down right now in fact. He's good on the basics ( powers and such ) but is working on his strategy and team building. We almost always have extra prizes for new guys too so you can come by, have a game, learn some tricks and build up your collection a bit.
9 -17 -11 - 500 pt Golden Age, Named Theme NO CARDS
ATAs are ok. Should be fun and easy to build. No big prize, just Cap's shield so break out those not so cut throat teams and let's get crazy !!

What is an ATA? And I only have the Fantastic Four starter and Spiderman#1 from The same set. And also I am still trying to understand the basics of the game.
An ATA is an alternate team ability. It lets you get another team ability that is based on keywords rather than team symbol. With what you have, I wouldn't worry about it a lot. We'll get to that as you get more stuff.
You can make a team that fits the requirement perfectly with what you have now by borrowing just one figure that I have ( probably have extras too ). She-thing if you want to look at the figure in the units section. With the FF and Spidey, she rounds out a 500 pt Fantastic Four keyword team perfectly. That team will meet the requirements and give you something to learn with.

I need all the help I can get. I will be placing a rather large order of singles from GSX, CapA, WoS, ect in the near future so I will probably need to learn that soon. At this point I am still reading through the rules, I've been quite busy with classes and such so I barely have any free time and there's no guarantee that I will be able to make it. I'll see what I can do and keep you guys posted. :)

Well I am not sure but it looks like I might be there, I have haven't gotten my hands on a license so my Dad is my ride. The thing is, he is really positive and supportive it's just that the tourny starts when we are usually in the middle of making dinner. So that makes it alittle difficult and he said that he'd see what he could do and I am very hopeful. (I love my dad, he was a Marvel comic lover in the 80s and is very supportive with so many things.) So Hopefully I will be in attendance.
They run from 5:30 ( but we are usually there early ) to around 8:00 - 8:30. If you can't stay the whole time, that's ok. Go ahead and come by and we'll work on getting you more comfortable with our great game.
Hey Tmac hope to see you there. Let me know if you want to borrow any figures tp play with. I have a pretty good collection of figures. We always enjoy having new players and creating a fun experience.

They order wont be in till next week so the F4 are still my only option but I just wanted alot of X-men and X-men villains. And there are a few others in there.
That's a pretty good collection of X clix. Some really good clix in that order also. I like also to play X-tems and X villians quite a bit. The FF are a very balanced team that can be played aggressively of defensively. Hoping I will be able to make it but something came up so I am not sure if I will be able to. If not I am sure to be there next week and looking forward to helping you learn our great game.
Unfortunately it turns out I'm not gonna be in town this weekend, so I won't be able to make it. Oh well, I'll have to find out how it went Monday.

It varies quite a bit. There's a pretty solid core of Death77 and I who are there almost every single week. Then there's a couple guys who come more often than not. We've had a couple recent drop ins who plan on coming back but that can be pretty sporadic. Regardless of the number, as long as there is enough to have at least one tourny game, I can work with you one on one until you feel ready to jump right in to the competition. There's usually plenty of old prizes hanging around so unless there is a very sought after LE ( cough Cable cough ) even the tournament is pretty laid back. Every now and then Death and I like to test ourselves major tournament style and pull out all the stops but more commonly its all about having a good time.

Aww sweet! I just need to convince my dad then. :)
Sorry I missed had to go out of town and couldn't make it back. I will be there this week and I will try to bring my extras. Hope it was a good game.

It was a great game! I learned alot and really learned that knowing your cards is very important. :)
Yes indeed cards are a big help especially to newer players. They not only help you remember powers and abilities but also when they may appear on your characters dials. Looking forward to meeting you Saturday. Hope you can make it.

Well it looks like there is a 98% chance that I will not be there. I'm very bummed. My madre caught wind of me wanting to make it out there two weeks in a row and she got upset. I'll see what I can do but it is slim to none that I will be there this week.

9 - 24 - Same as last week. We had a lot of no shows so we'll give them a chance to play what they built. And the new guy can concentrate on learning with a team he is familiar with.

I snagged one pack of Superman and got Aquaman, I feel acomplished. :)
Hey guys, I'm sorry but I won't make it today. I'm not in town and won't make it back in time like I thought I would.
Hey Tmac good job on the Aquaman pull. He is BRUTAL. I bought three boosters and pulled an Earth One Chase Superman.
10 - 8 - Sealed 400 pts Due to the high point values in Superman, let's bump this one up a bit. Standard two booster sealed with 400 pt build total.
On a side note, going to be out again this weekend. I'll be back with a vengeance next weekend though.
10/15/11- 400 points Modern age very simple and straightforward. Hope to see you all there.

Is this related to the Wednesday group?
We actually just found out this last week that there is a Wednesday group. But no, this is for the group that meets on Saturdays. We start around 5:30 if any of the Wed crew want to stop in.
Are colossals legal also? I don't plan on bringing any of mine but this opens it up a bit.
800 Golden? That sounds pretty awesome. If I'm feeling better by tonight I'll stop in, but as of now it seems unlikely.
10 - 29 : Worst Team Ever 500 pts modern , no figure under 75 pts
If you've never played this format before, it basically goes like this: You make the worst team you can with the restrictions. Each round you will give your opponent your team to play and you will get theirs. Then you try to make the most out of each others garbage team. Its a lot of fun and you see tons of figures that never get played otherwise.
11 - 5 : Belated MONSTER MASH 400 pts Golden, No Cards. All figures must have the monster keyword
11 - 12 Bring on the Bad Guys !! - 400 modern ALL VILLAINS
After the Skrull invasion last week. What is next?
11 - 19 - Secret Wars !! Build TWO 300 pt golden age teams, one heroes - one villains. A roll off before each game will let the winner choose which team they play, the opponent plays the opposing force of their own. All games are hero vs villain. No cards.
What will be going on this week I wonder? I will tune it later to find out. My hunt for the last superman chase Kal continues.
Looking like a dead week until I find out what's going on with the venue.
12-3 : SMASH !! 500 pts modern Standard 500 pt modern build with one catch, no ranged combat attacks allowed. All characters are treated as range 0 and range cannot be modified. Mind control is limited to close combat instead of the default Range 4.
Currenty stranded in Fort Worth. Should be there, but if it's go time and I'm not there, go on without me.

Does this still go on each week?
We have moved our tournament to the Lone Star in Hurst Saturdays at 1:30 PM. I believe the tournaments at Central our Wednesday's at 4:30PM. Myself and Kuffs will be at the Hurst store. PM me and I can get you any more details you need.
