Is this were you post tourney reports?
Second, I want to thank the people who responded to my thread and helped a newbie (me) out with his team.
The Event was on Comic Cult II in Norwalk, CA.
The event was 300 points; Mixed Marvel and DC (there's a minimum of 1 figure from each kind); No Flyers; No Duplicates; Nothing under 30 (which means most of the support characters are gone).
During the Middle of the tournament, the judge said the winning team would be a team with Barrier (enough to alternate turns without pushing) but no one really had that strategy.
The House Rules had Opposite Side Starts (so the no-flyer rule had to make a difference) and Double-Point Kills (to encourage people to beat to beat the #### out of each other). As a sidenote, someone did bring up, Wizkids meant that characters are "Knocked-Out" and not killed.... LOL
I figured I need to have characters that can get across the board easily with Hypersonic Speed, Leap/Climb, and Phasing (so even indoors, he can go across without trouble). I also thought of using Characters with Charge or Running Shot (I never got to do this). So, witht he help of some of you guys, I combined two of my initial team selections to create this team: (with the important abilities in the parenthesis)
V Nightwing (Leap/Climb; Outwit; Double Incapacitate; Batman Team Ability)
V Flash (Hypersonic Speed; Outwit; Super Senses; JLA)
V Swamp Thing (Phasing; Impervious; 11 Clicks of Damage)
E Black Cat (Leap/Climb; PROBABILITY CONTROL for Super Senses and Impervious rolls; and Wilcard Team Ability to mimic Batman Team Ability)
Round 1: Attack by Numbers. His team was just a swarm of small and efficient creatures. He didn't have anybody with Hypersonic Speed, which was soaking up the points for most of the people (limited most people's teams to 4-5 figures). He had (I'm sorry I'm bad with rank):
Black Panther
LE Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman)
Doc Octopus
Toad
Huntress
Whilwind
(and maybe 1-2 more Avengers)
- His Strategy was to surrond and attack from all sides using outwit to turn off impervious and hypersonic. He had JLA, Avengers, and Brotherhood to "increase" his actions. I was only able to take out toad. Lose
Round 2: He had heavy hitters:
Mr Fixit
Bane
Sabretooth
Logan (I think... my memory sucks)
- The close-combat aspect of his team gave me an advantage as I was able to hit his guys before they can even get close. I used Swamp Thing to hit Mr. Fixit with two heavy Objects while his invulnerability was outwitted. I couldn't double incapacitate with Nightwing becasue they all closed in on him but I was able to do a couple of pushes. Black Cat made Bane's thrown attacks useless. Flash hypersonic attacked an injured sabretooth to death. Win, with all my characters in tact.
Round 3: A very long and drawn-out game. The only kill was whenthe judge called time and I had to take my last round (I had to push to kill something):
Jean Gray
White Queen
Black Panther
Night Crawler
Huntress
- A good strategy using Jean Gray to telekenesis Nightcrawler and have him travel and get to my side of the board as bait. Everyone but Flash went for the bait. It was on a Marvel Outdoor Map, on the Building with three air conditioners on the edge. Swamp Thing went in with a heavy object. Black Cat went on top of an air conditioner so shes out of Nightcrawler's reach. Nightwing went on top of another air conditioner to outwit his hypersonic. He beat up Swamp Thing a bit. He Mind- Controlled and pushed Nightwing for a bit. I hit and run Black Panther with Flash. But, for some reason, no one died until the last turn.
The House ruled ruled that the last square of stair was not elevated terrain but the part of the roof it is next to it is. So even though they are next to each other, it is like two different elevations. I put Swamp Thing on that flight and Nightcrawler couldn't attack him so he was imprisoned on that rooftop. By that time, Swamp Thing only had toughness but even if he could attack my Swamp Thing, it would take a good while becasue he has 11 clicks of damage.
On the last round, they called one round for each player so I finished up one round and I had one leftover. I saw Huntress was the easiest to kill so I pushed and killed her. I won, barely, with all my characters intact.
Last Round:
V Black Cat
E Sabretooth
R Flash
V Catwoman
E Bane (I think)
- The only annoying thing I had to face in this matchup was like 4 rolls on the Super Senses people. Regular Roll, Super Senses Roll, Prob Control Roll from his Black Cat, Prob Control from my Black Cat. Or a variation. His downfall (but sometimes an advantage) is the fact that he was fearless at times and he tended to follow a run and hit with a hypersonic speed attack. It pushed his rookie Flash a lot but it made Nightwing useless (he was at the point where he was just using smoke cloud). I was outwitting the Super Senses instead of his Hypersonic Speed. I won though, with all my charactes in tact.
I ended up in the top 3 and won an LE Harley Quinn. Good thing the highest win record was 3-1-0. And I didnt go 2-1-1 (tie from that one close round).
