Retro sealed event at Comic Book Ink
08/20 - BLAST FROM THE PAST/KING OF THE HILLICARRIER! - Sealed/Silver Age (START TIME 2:00)
We are teaming up with Olympic Cards and Comics to celebrate nearly 9 years of comics and gaming at Comic Book Ink and hopefully help keep the doors open for many more years. This will be a two part event, with a $30 (plus tax) entry fee.
The entry fee will include the cost of three boosters of classic HeroClix sets (Ultimates, Mutant Mayhem, and Sinister), which will be used to build a 300 point force to take on all opposition for 3 rounds!
After 3 rounds of Sealed play, the top 8 (or half, whichever is fewer) ranked players will move on to a King of the Hill match. The players who did not qualify for the King of the Hill match will continue to do Sealed play with their teams (with potential to re-flight, depending on product availability)
The top 3 ranked players at the start of the King of the Hill match will score a bonus 150, 100, and 50 points respectively at the start of the match, which will be played on all 4 S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier maps joined together under the following rules:
KING OF THE HILLICARRIER - Silver Age
Build a 300 point force, only single-based figures are to be used. No Battlefield Conditions or Event Dials are allowed. All players will have 2 minute turns (not counting dice rolls).
At the start of the game the Judge will place a Special Marker on a random part of the map to designate the Hill, which extends in 2 squares for all directions.
At the start of your turn, earn 50 victory points for each friendly character occupying the Hill.
Once any figure enters the Hill, the Hill will be moved to a new location at the beginning of that player's 2nd turn.
KOing figures earns 10% of their points for victory points (including any Feats/ATAs).
When a figure is KO'ed, instead of being defeated, remove it from the map, place a special terrain marker in the last square it occupied. No characters or game effects can occupy the square with the special terrain marker, and it does not hinder line of fire or movement.
If a figure is 1-99 points, put 2 tokens on the Special Terrain marker or the character's card.
If a figure is 100-199 points, put 3 tokens on the Special Terrain marker or the character's card.
If a figure is 200-300 points, put 4 tokens on the Special Terrain marker or the character's card.
At the start of a player's turn with a KO'd figure, remove one token from each KO'd figure that player controls. When there are no tokens left, the figure comes back into play at full health on their Special Terrain marker, which is then removed from the map.
All figures on the Hill take knockback from successful attacks, which cannot be ignored by any power, ability, or game effect. Knockback on the Hill also ignores all characters for Knockback path (stopping in the last legal square possible if the Knockback path would place the figure in another figure’s square)
The highest scoring player at the end of the game wins!
Bring lots of $1 bills also, because any die/dice roll can be rerolled for $1, and we are also selling $1 raffle tickets with lots of cool prizes!
Start time for this game will be 2:00 and will run until about 8:00, so be sure to show up early to register and pay for your spot in the tournament!

HOUSE RULES ARE:
Highlander Rule: Unless the figure is a generic (i.e. Amazon, Hand Ninja, etc), only one version of that character is allowed on the force (exceptions allowed for alternate universes, such as 616 Iron Man, Ultimate Iron Man, and Zombie Iron Man)
No Colossal Figures, except for Giant Sized X-Men & any pulled from a Standard HeroClix Booster (GROOT!)
Please Bring cash! Between the raffle tickets, the $1 rerolls, and the $30 signup, cash is important! It will make the sign-up process quicker so we don’t have to do receipt signatures, wait for pins to be entered, possible server communication errors, and the shop doesn’t have to pay a fee with cash the way they have to with credit and debit cards!
In terms of food, if you want to bring your own, that’s fine. The Green Pup next door has great food as well, and if that doesn’t strike your fancy, there’s a coupon at CBI for a good discount off of the nearby Papa John’s!
To recap ALLLLL the awesome prizes:
Just for playing, you’ll get a random map and the Scorpio Key (up to the first 24 or so players, otherwise we’ll probably do some other way of passing them out)
The winner of the King of the Hill match gets the 4 SHIELD Helicarrier maps they just conquered, plus their choice of either the Toys ‘R’ Us exclusive Apocalypse Colossal figure, or a set of DC Giants! The top ranked player after all rounds of Sealed will get the other figure.
There will also be 1st and Fellowship prizes for the King of the Hill and Sealed events, with Captain America Prizes!
Players who qualify for the King of the Hill match will automatically get an old school Limited Edition figure as a prize!
