The worst of the Locust Horde pieces, but that really doesn't say much as each of the others has great strategic value. This version has multiple tricks up his sleeve too (charging penetrating damage, the teleport-and-knockback TA, use of Frag grenades even though he doesn't add to your grenade pool), but he's still not really that great for his points. They'll be worth using in bigger build Locust Horde swarms, but in smaller build Locust Horde teams I'd stick with the 3 big guns hordes of Drones rather than Maulers. For the points, this piece really isn't that great...

one of the most misunderstood and brutal of the locust pieces, the charge and exploit weakness is fantastic, combined with the team ability the mauler is a worthy foe for his points. he may not add any to your grenade pool but played with a kantus he can be brutal considering he can use frag grenades, for 52 points i was hoping for a late game self destruct ability although it didn't happen, a valued member of my locust team

The other pieces in the set are good to very good to great in the case of General Raam, but this guy is the lemon of the set. Just terrible for the points.

... I don't get it.... In the video game this guy's supposed to be the pants-crapper. He boulders towards you and you run, roll, or crawl to get the heck out of his way. What happened? He's not useless but he'll be used less than he should be.
You know what would've been awesome? If the boomshield (which he doesn't even have) was a detachable object you could take to shield yourself/deploy as a barrier after you killed him. That's what would've been awesome.

I have to agree this is a bad representation of the character. Where is the shield(imperious)? No need for a high defense just stronger damage reducers and high damage.
