Man I hope these are easy to get. I love the look of these little guys.

I like them both even if it is hard to understand why any grunt would ever have willpower, and the suicide grunt doesn't kill itself with the grenades

I got all excited when I saw grunt and thought we were getting mass effect clix.. :(

I would hunt down every piece from a mass effect heroclix set!

Anyone else notice that they are backwards on their dials? they are facing the rear...

I was just about to post something mentioning that too. I wonder if this is for this set alone, or if this is a change that will be seen brand wide.

I prefer this, lets me see the dial and if my opponent wants to see it, I get the awesome sculpt.

Thurst into battle?

Are plasma grenades useless against Invulnerability? That doesn't jibe with my memories of Halo... 90% of my playing time I was watching my corpse fly into the air in amusing ways.

It seems like neither of these guys can actually hurt Master Chief for the most part, which isn't very encouraging :(

Interesting dials, like the TA, but the sculpts do not do much for me; look like clay-namation.

Never having played Halo (there, I've come out of the closet! ;) ) are these figs good depictions of the Covenant cannon fodder?

The dials aren't bad.
The sculpts suck. Looks like something my daughter made for me in kindergarten out of Play-Do

i believe so. fuel rod grunts sit back and fire in your general direction and suicide grunts charge you and explode so yeah it seems accurate enough (minor discrepancies but things like that are expected in games like clix)

I get a feeling that this set is going to be a reverse of what we normally get, with 75% or so being generics with some fill-in named characters.

Not that I'm complaining, mind you. :)

the dials are perfect for the grunts. if you let one of these turds kill you in the game, that meant only one thing, put your controller down... cuz you suck. super excited for this set.

Sweet! With the Grenade mechanic, these guys have certainly one-upped any DC/Marvel generics.

I seem to remember the plasma grenades would kill if they stuck to a player so two damage isn't accurate. The fuel rod gun fired explosive rounds, why does this warrant at least energy explosion?

I noticed Thurst right away as well. I wonder if they'll catch it in time to fix it.

I don't care much for Halo in any fashion, other than I might be seeing these pieces in a tournament in my area.

With that said, wow, the Covenant team ability seems rather powerful, especially for a bunch of low cost generics to use. I'm curious how this ability was chosen for the Covenant, considering the only "carrying" that is done in the Halo universe is by vehicles.

'It can carry up to two characters if both also have a lower point value. Uncopyable.'

So to carry two 40 point FRGrunts, does a figure need to be at least 41pts (Like say a 42pt PGGrunt) or 81points?

I think it's a matter of game balance and point cost over game accuracy.

I think the 2 and 4 in the pt cost should have been reversed on the Grenade Grunt.

Don't think of it like physically carrying them. Think of it like advancing 2-3 of them together in ranks for one action.

Though since carry is -2 speed and these guys only have 6 speed, they won't be moving all that far with just the grunts.

The Grunt (Plasma Grenade) begins play manuevering into battle via Running Shot while his Sticky Grenade special power grants him the ability to use Grenades as a ranged combat action rather than the standard power action. The Grunt (Plasma Grenade) adds two to your available Grenade pool and his arsenel of Plasma grenades ensure that his opponents will be on their toes when he begins throwing Grenades their way!

So, does this mean they can trow a grenade while using running shot?? Why is this a big deal? Someone explain this to me why this matters!

The Grunt (Plasma Grenade) can carry the Grunt (Fuel Rod Gun).

The Grunts that get Fuel Rod Guns get them because they don't (usually) run away quite as much as their more cowardly brethren. The more veteran a Grunt is, the better their weaponry, this isn't exact, but it's a good description: Plasma Pistol<Needler<Plasma Launcher<Fuel Rod Gun.

As for being source accurate, they mostly are except that both the Fuel Rod Gun and Plasma Grenades do quite a bit more damage than that. A Grunt or a Jackal should never be able to withstand either. A Spartan or an Elite and some Brutes only sometimes make it through a direct hit from either of them, and those are the most armored characters in the games.

The sculpts were backwards on the old Halo ActionClix. Don't know why they've chosen to preserve it for HeroClix, but I suspect it might have something to do with being able to resuse old sculpts if they want to.

A very common grouping of forces you see in Halo is an Elite accompanied by two Grunts.

The team ability would emulate the Elite getting the Grunts into position, then hanging back while the Grunts move forward to attack.

I can think of a number of times that something exactly like this happened. The Elite moves forward with 2 Grunts in front, the Elite fires a few shots, then makes a loud noise and then the Grunts start firing or chunking plasmas.

The same was true with Brutes, except their Grunts were much more likely to just suicide. Apparently it's no fun to be under a Brute command.
