Weren't you paying attention in that one game. I prefer turkey. It -could- be a turkey cake, but that's just really icky to think about. So neither ham nor turkey.

Not the character - it's the sound. "Four" and "death" are near homophones in Chinese, and that superstition carries over to *many* countries in Asia due to the widespread use of Chinese characters for counting. Only some counting, mind you - Arabic numerals or local characters will be used for some things, while Chinese characters will be used for others. The "four" superstition applies across the board, however.

I got Settlers of Catan from my wife for my birthday. It was completely out of the blue. Considering she's not into strategy games, it was very sweet of her to do the homework to find a quality lesser known game and then hunt one down for me. On top of that, she played the game with me Sunday night. Only one of my buddies showed up for geek night last night so I showed the game to him. It's pretty basic in terms of game play, but pretty complicated in terms of strategy. Very cool game.

Yeah, it's not checkers, battleship, candyland, monopoly... You generally have to go to a hobby shop to find it in the US, (though Barnes and Noble started selling it a few years ago)

Personally, it's one of my less preferred board games because it has the Monopoly principle where one player is pretty much guaranteed a loss from the beginning of the game once you get past 3 players, and considering it's designed for up to 6, that's always bothered me.

But obviously that's just how I feel about it. It's pretty much king of the hobby shop board games. Still, really cool to get surprise nerd stuff!

I believe that the standard game of Settlers of Catan is meant for 3-4 players. There are expansions that allow for gameplay between 2, 5, or 6. I have only played the standard version, so I don't know a whole lot about the expansions.

He bent over a lot.

And if he paid anything close to full retail for Bose products, he'll continue to do so.

 Actually, I didn't spend a literal dime. I got it with Reward points my company gives as on-the-spot bonuses.

That being said, I stopped using the BackBeat for one reason... I lost them. :( I have a ##### of a time remembering where my headphones go, especially wireless.

I started working on a Wednesday, so it was only fitting to quit on a Wednesday too. Or it may be because I was employed during June, July and August. It's not August tomorrow.
Job market... It's okay, I guess. There's a slight shortage of medical secretaries and lots of retirements coming up. Sent out three applications today.

Yep. We have Vader yelling "NOOOOO!!" twice before he hurls the Emperor into the abyss. Then we have the Emperor yelling "AAAAAAH!!!!" all the way down the chute. And finally, we have the added effect of a little white cloud and a soft "poof" sound as the Emperor hits the bottom of the shaft.

This last item suspiciously sounds exactly like Wile E. Coyote when the Road Runner outwits him and makes him fall into the Grand Canyon.

George Lucas, really......WTF?????

I say this every time Lucas does something cringeworthy - laserdiscs, baby. I've got the original trilogy, exactly as they appeared in the theaters (okay, so Star Wars has "A New Hope" added to the title crawl, but that's the only difference), and their cheerfully obsolete format guarantees that no one's ever going to try to change them. Outdated technology is your only defense against this sort of thing.

Chocolate is okay, and sometimes I'm in the mood for it, but it's not at the top. Although, if we are counting brownies as cake, which I don't, then brownies would be the ultimate. Brownies are in a class all by themselves. That's the dessert I would want if stranded on an island.

Actually, you probably skipped it. The updated version ("Special Edition") of Return of the Jedi has subtitles when Jabba speaks Huttese. In your book that turns it into a foreign film and is therefore unwatchable.

But yeah, the Sarlacc Pit got "enhanced" with more tentacles and a beak, they threw in a new opening musical number with back-up singers at the Palace, they got rid of the Ewok "yub-yub" song, showed the people on Coruscant rejoicing and toppling a colossal statue of Emperor Palpatine, and (worst of all) they changed Vader's Force ghost at the end to be Anakin Skywalker as portrayed by Haydn Christensen. I kid you not. I wish that I was kidding, let me tell you. George Lucas should have been euthanized before he started writing the Star Wars prequel trilogy...

Character - Nomad
Role - Doctor

K-Ness's role PM from Darq's latest game:

K-Ness - You are Tru Davies (Town / Hawt III / Bus Driver), from the short-lived FOX series, Tru Calling

After your medical school internship fell through, you found a job at a local morgue… but that's not all you found. You found you had the strange ability to hear the dead ask for your help, shooting you backwards in time to try and save them.

In an effort to save the lives of the scum's victims, you may target two players at night, and switch them, so all players targeting A will target B, and vice versa. You may target yourself only once per game

Help Me! - Once per game, you may have a do-over for the night. For your night action, simply tell me you wish to use this power. All actions will go through, however no results will be given. Anyone who dies in the write-up will be killed (and Janitored), then ask you for help. The night will then Reset.

You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated.

Mask of the Phantasm is a beautiful film. And the Batman:AS is the best representation of Batman in any media.

Agreed, I just happened to watch it recently again on a plane, it still holds up beautifully.

Oh, and I think we established long ago my DC character would be Calculator :)

Wow, you must've hated The Passion...

Honestly, I haven't seen it in a very long time, and my theology has gotten a lot more refined. I destest most "Christian Entertainment", so I probably would not like it as much as I did when it first came out.

That aside, a depiction of Scripture is not the same as that comic.

I'm a little concerned about the words "spam", "zoo", and "porn" appearing in the same sentence.

So I spent the long weekend sick as a dog. My youngest brought home a stomach bug and I was the only one in the family to catch it. Let's just say that I have not projectile vomited like this in decades and that lying down is a great idea when the slightest sudden movement makes you queasy as all get-out. Though I woke up feeling better (and hence I am in the office today), the thought of eating is not exactly palatable at the moment. Ugh.

Note to Truffles:

While I agree that Batman: TAS is probably one of the best animated superhero TV series, I would also recommend all 4 seasons of Justice League. My daughters love that show, which we own in DVD boxed sets. Mind you, after the first two seasons they renamed it Justice League Unlimited and opened up the team roster to pretty much every character in the DC Animated Universe, so you get the full gamut. My favorite episode is probably still "This Little Piggy", in which Wonder Woman gets turned into a pig by Circe and it's up to Batman and the rest of the crew to undo the spell - with a special guest appearance by Zatanna.

(When it comes to animation or comic books, watch for the name Paul Dini in the writer credits and expect awesomeness.)

I whole-heartedly agree with all of this. While I'd love to say that X-MEN TAS and X-Men Evolution were great, they don't hold up to the test of time in that they were fun as a kid, but hold little interest for an adult. Justice League was not like that.

I can sign up twice, if you'd like.:p

BTW, I was in Best Buy last week and based on your recommendation I picked up a Steel Panther CD - "Feel the Steel." The lyrics are a crack-up, but the real surprise is that the band has a very cool metal sound. The only downside is that I can't listen to the music with the kids in the car. Other than that, I am looking forward to getting more Steel Panther as the chance arises....
