why have both of my mighty maps threads been deleted?

i figured the first one was because there were zero pics, but the 2nd one had a full pic, then 2 pics of the seperate sides.

now, before i went to sleep, it was mentioned that a post cannot be listed to sell something. I WASN'T, and it clearly says on the given website that the maps will only be sold through another site, which is a banner i often see on the realms.

so, why? do i not spend enough time on here to justify me creating a thread? do i have to be a donor with a custom avatar to have it stick?

i'm a little bent on this, a new map is a new map. can the only ones mentioned on this forum come from user creations (some of which ARE sold through links in sigs), GridReality, or Wizkids?

if this can be properly explained to me, fine. if it really is "internet forum politics", i'm out.

It is sad that you all of a sudden come to a conclusion because no one answers your question. The only person who can answer this is Typhon. I think he is on vacation.

My guess as to why your thread got closed or deleted is because mighty maps do not pay to advertise on the site. It is just a guess.

no offense meant, to you or the realms, but that just doesn't make sense.

previews are shown from a number of sites, including and not limited to, facebook, and "that other site, which we will not name for it is not as good as us". do these other sites pay to advertise on this forum? i have no idea, being only a "casual viewer" here. what about the superman preview from mtvgeek?

all of these are links which stay valid, after the thread is made. facebook doesn't sell anything, just like the mighty maps site (although they did in the past), but there are a number of banners and side links trying to get us to buy things.

i have more maps than most of my friends combined, and i think they are more fun than new figures. i just don't understand why when a new map is released, but by someone not Wizkids or GridReality, it's shunned.

The sidelinks and banners are how the site generates revenue, and certain advertisers there PAY typhon to have their banner put up. So It's not really fair to allow for advertising of other places that aren't paying to make themselves known, what's the point of paying for advertising if you can just get it fro free?

Your mighty maps sight that you're plugging isn't an official product, and since grid reality (At least my understanding of it) is a semi joint venture with Typhon included, it would make sense that Typhon would seek to advertise something he's got some form of involvement with.
It'd be like going to.. oh I don't know.. Best Buy's website, and then complaining that they don't have an advertisement for the same product at Target.

Both Adventurer's Atlas and MiniMarket have both advertised on the site at one time or another, but they are not current advertisers, so directly advertising their products (through links) isn't allowed.

I the way I always put it is: If I own a Ford dealership; there would be no way I would allow a advertising truck to pull onto my lot blasting "For a better car, go to the Chevy lot across the street!". Heck, I also wouldn't allow a competing Ford dealer to advertise on my lot.

That's what it comes down to; you can't piggy back on HCRealms' success and think there isn't going to be a cost.

The Realms deal with Grid Reality, and I'm fine with that.

Except aside from maps that HCR has a vested interest in (grid reality) and official heroclix releases then we are advertising for other sites to make revenue.. For free..

It's like advertising that a competing site has put up an article about such and such thing so you can go there and read it, and in doing so end up driving up their readership and their profits, while getting nothing for us.

It's not really one sided, it's a privately owned site and the owner (Typhon) can run it however he sees fit. And since it costs money to run, it's in his interest to try to make your own vested interests make you the most money as opposed to free advertising (whether you're associated or not) for other sites while paying to keep the site running.

No it would be equally unallowable. The custom dice thread that used to exist was not advertising an outside site.

But one needs to understand again that posting advertising for said sites here (Whom are not paid for advertisers either) is not allowed, again as contrary to popular belief running the site is not actually free so it needs to get people willing to pay for advertising space and such.. So why would we want to anger the people who have decided to pay to advertise on the site by allowing free advertising of other sites?

Kinda sounds like it. More maps from any source is better.. Sure.. But advertising for them and not getting paid to advertise for them is not. Same reason I hate driving around with the name of the dealership somewhere on my car.. Why am I advertising for x dealership when x dealership isn't paying for me.

I do not have an issue with the GR ad, but it is a good question, it seems to rotate between the T-Shirt and Maps... And they are great maps. I just bought a bunch last week. And got a T-Shirt @ DragonCon, and it is nicer than I imaginaed.

It's an internal promotion; and doesn't fall into the same classifications as external ads. It's the same as us advertising HCRealms T-Shirt Sales and ClixCast. They're all part of the RealmWorx family of products and services.

As for the custom dice comment; we actually do remove them if they point to a dedicated retail site and if they violate copyright (ie. The Lantern dice should always be taken down ... depending if the staff take them down).
