View Full Version : WAIT... There's 2 different Star Trek games?
I'll admit, I've kind of just casually been watching this. But wasn't Star Trek supposed to be one game that you could play 2 different ways?
Fleet Captains and Expeditions is actually 2 separate games?

That is correct, Expeditions is the "away team" game and Fleet Captains is the ship based exploration one.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Fleet captains personally.

Yep two different games with completely different game play.
After running both games during Origins and GenCon my feelings are this:
Expeditions feels like you are running thru an episode of Star Trek while Fleet Captains feels like you are running thru a season of Star Trek.

expeditions sucks. Über mathy knizia design doesn't go well with co op. it bogs the game down. also, it's hard to really feel like you accomplished much when the replay value of the game is basically you trying to beat your high score. you should feel a real sense of accomplishment when you beat the board in a co op game, not get through it and see that you didn't beat the board by enough.

I don't mind it, but Fleet Captains is definitely the better game of the two.
But for the price, I'm quite happy with Expeditions.
