The Rules
In addition to these forum-wide rules, there may be rules for other subforums. Those subforum rules would be stickied at the top of the page. Read those rules before posting in a subforum.

These rules are meant as a guideline to help keep an enjoyable and civil environment where all members can all have fun and bring together everyone with a similar love in their life, HEROCLIX!

1. Be Polite
No Insults, Trolling, Flaming, Name Calling, Harassing, Etc.
We will not tolerate insults, excessive profanity (this includes things that are censored by the filter) or throwing a topic off course. Use of racial or bigoted terms is not accepted. Keep topics/posts where they belong.

2. Censored Words
There is a censored word filter on the site that will automatically censor a word for you. Do not bypass the swear filter or spelling of other inappropriate words in a "creative" manner. If you can’t say it to your mother over polite dinner conversation, don’t say it here either.

3. SPAM!
We do not allow spamming and other worthless posts in our forums. This includes posts such as 'First Post', Goodbye threads, thread tagging, and thread necromancy.

4. No Alternate ID's
You and any alternate ID's will be permanently banned immediately. If you're sharing your computer with a roommate or family member, please contact us to a avoid banning.
If you lose or forget your password, please do NOT create a new account as your ‘solution.’ Use the ‘forgot password’ link at login, or e-mail the administrator (webmaster@realmworx.com) of the site for help.

4a. Report known member alternate IDs
If it is discovered that you know of another member's alternate identity and do not report it, or discover it and try to "hide" it from moderators, you will receive an automatic temporary ban from the site. Banned members are gone for a reason, assisting them in getting back on the site/boards makes you just as guilty.

5. No Public Discussion On Staff Actions
Do not mouth off or publicly question staff decisions. If you have a problem, comment or question, contact a member of the HCRealms Staff.

6. No Advertising
Any posts or threads to promote a website or store will be removed. You may place a link in your signature. The more you contribute to threads, the more exposure your site will get.

7. Do Not Post Things For Banned Members
This includes artwork, customs, sales or requests. Once they are banned, they are done with this forum.

8. No Personal Ads
This isn't Craig's List. If you're looking for a roommate or a hot date, you're on the wrong site.

9. Do Not Post Private Conversations
This includes PM's, IM's and emails.

10. Links in posts -
No ebay links. No "Blind links." While we know that posting links to off site content is going to occur, please add a short description as to what you're linking to.

11. Rampant Negativity - Members who post excessively negative, confrontational, rude or mean posts will be asked to adjust their attitudes or leave the site.
HCR prides itself on being a community open to all discussions and opinions, but it is not your personal dumping ground, soap box or anger management group.
If you are nothing but a black hole of negativity, you have a real life problem – seek help, but seek it elsewhere.

12. No Discussion On Politics, Sex, or Religion.
This includes signatures, user titles and avatars. There is a politics forum where polticial discussion is allowed, please keep political discussion there.

13. The Report Button
If you see anyone in violation of these rules press the report button on the infringing post and a moderator will take care of it.

Failure to comply with the rules of HCRealms will result in consequences

Warnings and Infractions
In addition to the ability to edit posts by users, HCRealms Moderators may issue different types of sanctions on a post:

Verbal Warning within a post - When a thread gets out of hand with multiple members and to remind of the civility that should be embraced.
Verbal Warning within a PM - A private warning to a member that will not go on their record.
Warning - A private warning to go on the person's record.
Infraction - A private infraction to go on the person's record.

It is at the discretion of the issuing Moderator what will be given.

In the end, when posting on HCRealms, it's important to always be polite and use common sense. Respect others as you would in real life. If you're doing something that wouldn't be acceptable if the person you're talking to were sitting at a table with you, chances are it also isn't accepted on HCRealms. This community is a PG-13 community; which means that there are unsupervised members as young as 13; and even less than that with parental supervision. Keep that in mind.

With the update in rules feel free to submit questions as the FAQ thread will also likely be updated.

Seconded, I'm not noticing the change.

For the most part things are the same, however they have been condensed (they used to be much more wordy) in order to make them a bit more straight forward.

There hasn't been some major change to the rules that will change how things work on the site or anything. If you were good under the old rules you should be good under the new rules.

Thanks for the clarification. The rules still look good. :classic:

thread necromancy?

Reviving an old thread.
Which brings up another point not covered in the rules, when you're done using your thread, close it so no one can resurect it.

What if the old thread becomes relevant again?

These rules will be upheld to the best of the ability of the moderator. Usually for a threadnecro thread to be noticed someone reports it for one reason or another.

Glad I wasn't the only one who missed this, or didn't get it.

I'm guessing that like the above, "how old is too old" is up to the person reporting it, and the moderator responding to the report.

It would be helpful if threads closed automatically after X period of time without a post, but I'm guessing that isn't an option or it would be done already.

In any case, I just closed any thread I started that hasn't seen a post in a year. I should probably do more.

Heh, this one is my favorite. I can't imagine what must have been posted to get this rule on the list.

Haha, good point. Maybe you mods should put together a top ten most ridiculous posts ever list.
