Hey Wizkids,
IS Storms base an AE or not?

I know I'm not really a Wizkids employee...

Wow. I've never seen so many people ask this question.

Storm's base is not considered an AE. These are the same bases that are used with the main set, Infinity Challenge. I know it's been along time since we've seen these bases.

An Arch-Enemy base will usually have a base color other than black.

Storm in all three versions (R/E/V) does have an Arch-Enemy of the Sentinel figure.

Storm's AE-ness is based on her team ability, not her base

Dear wizkids, I was excited about your Xplosion set, but when I saw the list of figures I was disapointed. I was hoping that you would complete the original X-men, in there original costumes. I want the other members to go with my Unique Cyclops from the Infinity challenge set. Instead I get another unique Elektra??? Where's Angle?? Another thing that bugged me was that you didnt give the rookie blue beast an avengers team advantage. Why not? Instead you give us the experience beast with the defenders team. The beast has appeared in more Avengers books than d=defenders!!

First, Beast's time in both groups was about equal. He did have a leadership role in the Defenders; so you could say quality over quantity.

Secondly, the designers have to look at the "team mix" of figures. The Defenders is in need of more figures in this game than the Avengers

The frist team the beast appeared on after his mutation was the Avengers. Im not saying take away the beast as a Defender, If they wanted to add more Defenders to the mix there are plenty of high profile Defenders they could have choosen from. (Submariner, Silver Surfer, Valkerie, Hellcat, Night hawk, ect.) Wiz kids should have made an unique Beast (original x-men uniform) and then made the rookie blue beast an avenger. I tired of all these repetitive uniquie characters. How many Spider-men do we need? Do we really need two Unique elektra's?

We may not, but Marvel wants them.

(DC will be the same. We've already got OWAW Supes; they'll be a Bats & Supes in CJ too)

I like beast as a defender better, his main avengers run was like forever ago. And he NEEDS to be a defender along with iceman and hopefully angel soon, so they can be they hillarious team of beast ice man and angel.

Why do people always complain about the spidermans and the elektra's and what not. Personally I enjoy this repeat characters, leaves you guessing, what spidey or hulk will be next? Besides they only take up one unique slot, four all together that leaves 8-11 slots for uniques no big deal.

Speaking of storm does anybody have any idea how much an extra lightning bolt cost? I was thinking of upgradeing my vet storm.

You're in luck. WizKids answered this question in the HeroClix Rules book way back when Infinity Challenge came out. Here's the relavent quote, emphasis added:

"Arch-Enemies
Some characters have colored combat dials, rather than the STANDARD BLACK combat dial. Two characters with the same color base are arch-enemies."

So, to answer your question, look at Storm's base. Is it black? If yes, it is not an arch-enemy base. Hope this helps any nay-sayers you may encounter. Just remember the Sentinel rules!

Personally I think they originally inteded to include her in the Infinity Challenge set, but pulled her for a release closer to X-Men 2 release. If you notice on her Rookie and Vet dials, there are no crossover powers from DC, but on her Experienced figure (which has an inverted base) she has Perplex for a couple clicks.

See this one with the funky black base that we don't use anymore? It goes with the flight base version of storm.

See this regular inverted base?? It goes with the Storm with NO flight base.

Or I'm just blowing smoke, who knows?!;)
