so I am thinking about heroclix and one of the things that stands out are the static maps. this meaning that you will always be playing on this map or that map and those can get old pretty durn quick. this is especially true if you play often.
so, I was thinking of making something along the lines of a modular map. this would allow for any number of combinations that one could think of. to accomplish this we have two options.
1.) generate little 'squares' that are, for example, 6x6. keep them generic so you could flip-flop them for different options.
2.) go with a 'plug-in' style. this meaning that a building is one complete piece that you would place on the map. this would apply to other items as well, such as cars, tree's, etc etc.
of the two I prefer the second option. you could have a few base mats to represent the basic ground of the area and then you could 'plug-in' the rest.
in addition, the buildings and anything with "height" could be mounted on poster board. this would help differentiate between an elevated position and a none elevated. this could also be applied to trees and other large items.
while I have yet to really sit down and generate anything at the moment I am in the plannig stages and thought I would get some feedback.
so....thoughts?
