View Full Version : Ultimate, Schmultimate...
I've already begun transforming my Hobgoblin into the Original Green Goblin! That way, when I (hopefully) pull a Green Goblin unique, I can kick mister bulky to the curb and play with the real deal. Pics to follow.
I think that over half of us are going to mod a GG. All of the mod-ers will/already have. And those who don't normally mod are going to go buy green & purple paint and get to work.
I love Ultimate Gobby and all, but the original was twice as good. The new guy has a really neat story arc and that's about it.
Why is he the Green Goblin anyway? Man + (OZ+Man DNA) = Goblin? He's not even green! Only his head is! He should be called the Green Head!
Hey everybody! Post your Green Goblin mods here! I wanna see 'em! Please?

I'm not into the whole ultimate line of comics, with the exception of ULTIMATES. I grew up reading the "classic" Amazing Spidey and Uncanny X-men, which is the reason why I don't read their ultimate titles. (I feel I have a familiarity with their continunity, characters and story devolopments over the years)
I did not read Avengers with any regularity, so it made it easier for me to jump into Ultimates, they were all fresh characters to me.
As for Ultimate heroclix popping up in these sets, I really do not see their purpose, as most of the "Ultimate" characters have the same powers (and would probally have the same stats) as existing versions in Heroclix. Most of the figures can be modified easily enough into their Ultimate versions.
It's funny, because I was planning to do the same exact thing you are, Ducko5. Spidey just needs to battle the classic Gobby on My board.
I will say this though, the Ultimate Green Goblin sculpt is just phenomonal. I love the detail they put into the rips and tears in his cape, it just boggles the mind.
If I pull the Goblin in my packs, I may have to think up a scenario where the regular goblin gets injected with Hulk blood or some such thing to transform him into crazy steroid Goblin.

Here you go ducko5, my green goblin mod:

Awsome Mod, jcastick! I was gonna paint my goblin glider metallic, too. Glad to see it works out good.
UPDATE!
I've shaved off his cape and the front flap of his hood, then glued some of the pointy shaved off bits to his head, forming the ears and nose. Trust me on this, it looks good! Will paint it tonight. should have pics tomorrow.
Okay here is my Green Goblin.

rctpool, I like the use of glossy paint. nice job.
Thanks. I have since sprayed him with "Dull Cote". I like the dull finish better. This was one of my first modding attempts. Not a bad job but definite room for improvement. Looking forward to seeing your take on the Goblin.

I'm glad you're all living in your old Green Goblin world but no-one can deny that the new sculpt is fantastic. That cape is awesome.
LUKE SMASH
I agree. He is one of the more fantastic scuplts in XP, if not all Heroclix. It's just that some of us have read too many Amazing and not enough Ultimate to warrant the new fig.

Thanks ducko5! I cant wait to see how yours turns out!!
Here's mine:

I went for a darker look myself with the color-scheme. Made him look more sinister, I thought, although I really dig that one above with the dead-one paint job. Maybe I'll do another...
Thanks Mrpop. I like your firestar mod.
Those ears are cool. nice job
Lukebuchanan, I'm not gonna deny that the sculpt looks great, but you can't deny that moding figs is fun (at least for me, it is) and that having both versions to pick from is better than being limeted to just one.
Having said that, here's my mod of Green Goblin,

WHADDAYATHINK? Comments are welcome.
Nice work. I like that you added to the nose and ears. Eventhough lots have done this character, you found a way to add something more to make it different. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
The photo manips look cool also, as does the Wonder Woman. Keep'em coming.
Thank you, rctpool.
I also posted some Aquaman mods and a classic Robin mod, if you'd like to see them.

Looks very good to me. Really seems to capture the classic look. Almost reminds me of the Mego doll, which isn't a bad thing. Nice job!

Just out of curiousity...can any of you e-mail me a fraction of your talent so that I can make a modded figure?? lol
Excellent work guys. I haven't seen the new GG up close and personal, so I don't know about the sculpt (Only got Apoc so far), but I have to agree that they should have used the original GG. I like the Ultimate lines of comics, but I prefer the genious version of Gobby.

I'm in exactly the same boat. While ultimate x-men and spiderman seem redundant from what I've seen ... the Ultimates has grabbed me ... great art, good writing, and not being familair with old Avengers stories ...they seem come across as new to me ...
