View Full Version : Mafia All Stars 13 - A new beginning

You may have noticed that Magnito is not interested in running more All Star games at the moment. I thought that was a great shame since I love All Star games, and since I have plenty of time and an urge to mod right now I asked him if I could pick up where he left off, and he kindly gave his permission.
For those of you not familiar with All Star games, the basic concept is that all roles in the games are from past games, which makes it very easy to look up claimed roles - and when I'm running the game you can bet there will be links to the featured games. Mixing roles from different games creates a very unique atmosphere, particularly when doing writeups. And no, you don't have to have played in the featured games to be in All Stars - being able to look up roles actually make them very beginner friendly in my opinion.
Things will not be exactly as they are when Magnito runs these games. In particular, I want to try adjusting the number of featured games to the number of players. I want at least 20 players to run this game, and if I get exactly 20 I will use 14 games as the source material. If I get more than 20 players I will add more games - for every 2 players I get another game will be added to the list of featured games, so 22 players would mean 15 games, 24 players would mean 16 games and so on. I will not go above 30 players/20 games though.
If I can get the players in time, it would be nice to start this game at the end of October or beginning of November - let's say October 31stNovember 7th as a tentative start date. Signups will be open until I decide I have enough players and roles.

Would you rather I play, or should I be a consultant. I won't lie, my performances in a lot of games have been sub-par, as of late. I'll try and step it up, but I wouldn't mind being a consultant if you need that as it can be tricky. I had a co-mod my first couple all stars games.
As for my series here, I may pick it up at some point in the future, but I needed a break, so I don't mind someone else taking the reigns for a bit. I wasn't in love with the last few AS games, so I think a fresh set of eyes might be what the series needs.

It's up to you. The more players I can get the better though - 20 is just the minimum number I want and the more players I get the more fun roles I can add. While I certainly don't mind having someone to talk to there's bound to be mods who aren't playing that I can ask if needed.
I think you played an excellent game in Darq's Best of mafia by the way, so you shouldn't sell yourself short.

I have been looking things over and realized I can do a lot of fun stuff if I get 26 players. Magnito got at least that many a dozen times so it shouldn't be impossible.

Harder and harder as the games went on though. First few had 40 players. Then 30, then I'd be lucky to get 25.
Hack, my current game I am trying to run has 5 people so far.

Nah, you threatened to kill me but then went after Aegon instead. So I killed Max von Sydow when you killed Aegon and then killed off the other guy before you could get me.
I did like the "I'm two priests doing naughty stuff to a young boy!" bit though.

I'm considering starting this later than advertised. It fits my schedule better, and since a lot of games opened recently and a few more may open soon it may be good to wait a little while longer to decrease the play load.
Plus, it means I may get more players - the closer we can get to 30, the better. :)

I really want more players, so I can add more games and more fun. Just bumping this thread doesn't seem like enough, so let's make a contest of it!
Signups will stay open another week - they'll close on November 4th, and the game will start the following week. The player who recruits the most new players in that time gets to request their role and I'll do my very best to include it in the game.
So if you have some role you really want to play, tell your pals to sign up!

Might I suggest that rather than continuing to increase the size of the game, you cap the player number, and have anyone else interested in playing be on the reserve list? It would be rather unusual if you didn't end up at least one replacement at some point, and if you keep making the game bigger, you might have a hard time filling those spots again.

Since interest has been low the last few days, I have had time to pick out roles and balance the game. Signups are closed. Roles are going out soon. Game still starts on Monday.
I could always use an alt or two, so if anyone's bummed about missing this game, feel free to PM me.
