Changes to Heroclix

Every organism during battle has the following trait: "This character can move up to half its speed value as a free action."
During battle, initiative is determined by adding the character's average speed value plus a 2D6 roll.
Regeneration heals a minimum of one.
Leadership removes a token on a 4-6, but has no other effect.
Characters with Super Strength can use the carry ability.

Purchasing
Toughness evolves into Invulnerability, and Invulnerability into Impervious at double the price of the last stage.
Hypersonic Speed evolves from either Charge or Running shot, and can only be used with a close combat attack if it evolved from Charge, or a ranged combat attack if it evolved from Running Shot.
Pulse Wave evolves from Quake or Energy Explosion at double the price.
Earthbound sheds one point off the cost of the ability it is neutralizing.

How does it work?

I will describe a scene or a set of circumstances and the players will interact with that scene. They can story post, or roleplay, as much as they'd like but they don't have to. The players will then declare an action at the end of their post (I'll investigate the mysterious bridge). One action per situation (until I've posted new results). Players don't have to be given an action if they don't want to. Then once everyone has submitted an action (twelve hour time limit since my last post) I will describe the results and so on and so forth.

During battle, a map will be created and combat will work just like regular Heroclix (although with any changes added, which are marked down in another section).

____
____ The City of Helix lies at the heart of the country, the biggest metropolis in all the land. It is large, intricate and vast. Its people are, in comparison to most, middle class or higher. In fact poverty is at an all-time low. Most credit the new King with this peak of economy, the honourable Brill who has just passed his first year as King of Helix. Before him, King Renetra died in his sleep at a long and respectable age. King Brill hopes to further the City of Helix in ways no one has before, starting with the economy, the crime and moving on to infrastructure, trade and science. His armies are strong and loyal, striking fear in to any that try to attack the City of Helix.

____ Helix is not without its foes or spies though. Before Brill became King he was still a respected member of the political community and he had an advisor known as Greymist. Greymist was once a powerful Knight and practicing Warlock before he became the King’s advisor. Things were great for quite some time, but it is said that once King Renetra passed on, Greymist turned on Brill. Apparently Greymist hoped that if he killed Brill, he would be next in line after Renetra. In this moment, Greymist also revealed himself to be a Necroshadow. Brill was shocked and fought Greymist as best he could, but could not beat him. He did however keep him busy long enough for Brill’s other knights to arrive and save the new King. The knight took Greymist away, but he was able to escape and ventured forth to the outskirts of Helix. Some say he ran off to the mining facilities of Bah-Drum to the North-East. Others say he disappeared into the shadow itself. All speculation of course.

____ King Brill has never forgotten this betrayal. He tried to let the incident go, but even after a year’s time he can’t seem to push it aside. So he’s decided to seek closure once and for all. A week ago the King sent out flyers and messages to the surrounding cities and areas asking any adventurers or mercenaries to step forward. He’s looking to hire a small group to locate Greymist in the mines of Bah-Drum, kill him, and bring the head back as a trophy for Brill’s mantle. The reward is a very generous sack of 500 gold pieces to be split amongst the adventurers. This prize has attracted many to the town of Helix, including four currently waiting outside the King’s quarters in the lush marble pantheon.

____ They arrived all at the same time and without any other comrades with them, they would likely be forced to work together. Based on the King’s messages, he wants a party of at least three because he feels anything less would be killed on the journey. So the four sit, stand, or lean in the wide marble room eyeing each other suspiciously and sizing each other up. They wonder if the others will be good allies or if this whole thing is a suicide mission. Above anything else, they wonder if the King will even give them the mission or if they travelled to Helix for nothing.

____ They anxiously wait.

You know you guys don't need the asterisks right?

Asterisks are universal internet language for "I'm making this motion, not speaking these words". We don't need them, but they help avoid confusion.

Oh I know, just through the context I know that is your character's.

But you can use asterisks if you want to, I'll be using just regular dialogue.

Actually, since this is out of character it should probably have brackets, hmm.

(Yeah, so with RPing out of character stuff is in brackets and posts are usually like this:

Generic guy walks up and down through the narrow corridor.
"This absurd, how do I get myself into messes like this?" He says in a low whisper.

But like I said, if you prefer asterisks then that works too)

He pulled out a pocket watch and spun it in the light. The glittering of the brass casing caused refracted light to dance upon the floor. Bringing it to his face, he opened the watch and gazed at the time. Closing it, he dangled the watch back down.

He adjusted his glasses and looked at the others gathered in the room. He never bothered to smile. For a moment, he seemed to wince. He recovered, merely grabbing his right hand. Was that a trickle of blood? Perhaps, but if it was a wound, they would never have known.

He waited with the others... waiting, as he had been most of his life.

The man in the tattered and dirt-stained suit snaps his textbook shut and crams it into the leather bag on his lap.

"All of this posturing is very mysterious and intriguing, but I have a schedule to keep. Might I inquire as to who is in charge of this operation?"

Mr Stranger

____ After what seems like a good half an hour to forty minutes, the mechanical marble door begins to open. A bit of steam shoots out from the upper and lower corners as it does. In the doorway stands King Brill, a short man of 5’4 with a round stomach, short black hair and a golden crown. His pants look like charcoal, whereas his overcoat is bronze (real solid bronze) on the arms, with a bronze zipper across the middle top to bottom. Underneath is a beige shirt of some sort. He nods to the waiting four and leaves into his chambers, expecting them to follow behind. From behind, the four can see that King Brill also carries a large mallet sheathed on his back and it becomes obvious that although Brill is stout and approaching fifty, he is very strong and his arms are big and powerful.

____ As they enter the large marble room, they see Brill walking towards his throne. The throne is made of oak and has a clockwork wheel on the right side of it, which is slowly turning. The walls of this room are lined with books and a round fur carpet lies before the throne. Overhead the roof is a dome, which allows the sun to seep in. Brill climbs onto his throne (it is very large, as if a man of seven feet should be sitting in it) and he seems a bit dwarfed in comparison.

____ “You want to kill Greymist, that part is clear. But can you succeed?”

*Salutes the King*

"Only time can reveal the truth, King Brill. But I believe that time will soon result in Greymist being brought to justice for his crimes."

(Well, it would be everyone's turn though until I can edit it on my turn. So by the third person they might find things confusing. On top of which, if there are no numbers a recap may not help. So I'd need to edit numbers in as well. So I was hoping there might be a system already developed for this.)
