Just a suggestion, but what about having a House Rules Sub-Forum (in the Rules Forum) where venues could post their house rules and local/home games could discuss adjustments to their own ways to play?

It might also serve as a place where people could discuss making standard (but unsanctioned) Silver and Bronze Age classifications (or my own Post-Modern, which allows all figures from all Heroclix sets).

I could be wrong, but it just seems like a niche that could be useful to players.

If there's enough interest I'd be game for it. The last thing I want is to have a forum that isn't used though.

I am a fan of house rules to an extent. They need to be separate from the real rules discussion as people need to know how to play the game by the rules.

It seems it should go in the Heroclix Stategies and Tactics section, as these new house rules can be deemed scenarios, and people would have to figure out their strategy for how to play that way.

Maybe under Tournament / Event Discussion? Venue-specific information can be listed with threads locked after the OP posts the House Rules.

Good suggestions. I was thinking Rules-related only because people might discuss feats, figs, etc. that they limit/ban or whatever. It just seemed more "rules"-y to me.

Strategies and Tactics might be the right place, though. I feel like it would get lost in Tournament/Event and not encourage people to talk about "House Rules" as a general topic, which certainly seems to come up a lot.

I can't predict traffic to the area, but I suppose part of that will depend on Mods moving relevant discussions to it... which would in turn create more awareness of it.

I'll be curious to see how many more responses this thread gets. :)

I am also curious what functionality the new WK/NECA "Store Locator" will include. There may be a way to post House Rules which will be displayed when you look-up a Venue or Event.

Hmmm... this (lack of interest/responses) might answer my question...

I think house rules can be covered in General. The Rules forum seems to me to be kind of a special place. Making a subforum of it to cover house rules might give anything discussed there an inappropriate patina of seriousness, and make searching for rules answers more difficult (because it would tend to show up when someone was trying to search the Rules forum for answers).

Don't you hate it when you get a really good idea and NOBODY PAYS ANY ####ING ATTENTION TOO IT!!!!

What about the alternative switch to Strat and Tactics?

Wouldn't bother me any, but then I never have time to visit Strategy and Tactics. : - )

Seriously, that seems a better place for it. It still might annoy people trying to do a search for a strategy and running into house rule posts.

Well, I can't help people having search issues... I mean what're you gonna do, right?

Hmm.

Maybe there could be a Venue section of the Tournaments Forum? Basically for people who judge or otherwise represent a venue to post the location and house rules that are in effect? Maybe 'Thread' titles include the zip codes?

Seems like there is room for possibly both of these things (venue area and house rules questions) somewhere. I'll continue to think on it.
