Hey all, I just bought 3 boosters and ended up with 6 Veterans of the 12!!!

Darn it. There were only 2 verterans that I wanted. Most of the figs I wanted in Rookie or Experienced versions

No uniques...but I don't really want any from this set, except to trade.

wes
ps:Hey, I have a bunch of Veterans I would be willing to trade down lowe levels of this and other sets.

... You are quite possibly the first person I've ever heard who complained about getting too many of the rarer figures :p

Well, most of my successful teams revolve around rookies and experienced pieces.

Most players in this game as well as other game systems...look at the biggest and baddest pieces and try to overwhelm their opponents with brute force. They put all their marbles in a very few pieces and rarely do I see those teams win. [however this is a game of even points per side]

Teams which outnumber the foe by 2 to 1 win way more games than not, in my opinion.

Many players come up with 'their' big game tactics...

some are 'stealth dude' moving up and outwitting and then closing for BCF....
...some taxing carrying a brusing brick or a RCE/ CCE....
...A team hiding around the Invisible Girl....

etc,etc,etc,...In other words a very narrow scope and they win or die by a straight forward inflexible game play.

Now about 10% of all gamers [+/-] seem to be natural tacticians. No matter what the game, they seem to understand the ebb and flow of the current battle and move all their pieces to maximum advantage.

I am NOT one of those, but I have been beat up by a number of them ;)
The rest of us have to design tactical teams that can take casualties and not lose potence, can adapt to the battle using several different strategems{PC, Outwit, TAxi, Support, High Attack vaules, Soaring... yet still blocking LOF, using/gettting more actions than your opponent EVERY round,etc}
AND
then put in a plan to draw the enmey into a killing zone, sacrificing a diversionary piece, moving your entire force to your opponents' flank, etc, and basically setting the tempo of the game.
I rarely see teams dominated by veterans using a large number of the above tactics...

Now if your a collector, then I understand the want to have the more valuable.

ME... I try to collect one of each figure in the level I 'feel' appropiate and tactically useful. The other figs I chop up for mods or give to my son.

I want R Madame Masque...Not V
I did want the V Storm
I did want the V Viper, just not 2 ;)
I did want The E guys I got.

...blah, blah, blah...

If you have a Vet Doc Samson I'd be happy to take him off your hands. I got a case so I have a buttload of duplicates in R and E levels.

Your point about players wanting the biggest and baddest is true. That's why people don't like Pulse Wave and will only play Energy Explosion if they have 2 SHIELD figs to bump up the power.

If you build lots of armies, often you'll find a niche a fig's various levels. However, in Xplosion is that the team abilities are relatively static from level to level. For instance, R Madame Masque isn't on a team and niether is the V version (there are a plethora of wholly factionless figs in this set). Viper is Hydra on all her levels. Unless a fig has radically different stats from dial to dial (like Taskmaster, Storm, arguably Iceman, etc.), you're absolutely right- it often comes down to raw point efficiency for that fig's particular role. This phenomenon is more noticable in Xplosion that previous sets.

BTW, I like your mods!

Yeah those are really sweet mods. Good paint jobs. Better than alot of the Xplosion ones heh.
