Greetings HeroClix fans!

Today we are very pleased to announce the exapansion of our Star Trek offerings with the release of Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics!

Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics puts you in command of Federation and Klingon vessels and is 100% compatible with the HeroClix core rules system. Tactics is intended as a standalone game system and will exist outside of the Modern and Golden Age tournament environments. What this mean is Tactics operates by the same rules and Powers and Abilities card that your standard HeroClix game is played with, but is meant to be played as its own game.

Tactics features more than 20 pre-painted ships from both the Federation and Klingon affiliations and will be available for sale in both a 4-Ship starter product and single figure boosters. For more details, please refer to our Retailers Downloads section.

That's just weird. I would have expected the actual characters.

I hope that's on the horizon, and soon. I need a Peggster-as-Scotty fig bad!

does this mean that there will be no more support for fleet captains? my frustration level will reach explosion if i dn
t get romulans among others, that game is so much fun.

The two products are not mutually exclusive; just because one is made, that doesn't mean the other one won't be.

That said, I'm curious what you mean by "more support for Fleet Captains"?

I think he means expansion sets for Fleet Captains.

I'm confused as to why they didn't just make the two the same name and make it all kind of the same. I'm finding this announcement very confusing.

I really wanted Fleet Captains - tough to buy at £80 at my LCS even after a discount to £75 I was still left thinking "well that's £3 a ship - that isn't too bad - but all in one go is hard to shell out".

Ah well - hopefully people richer than me right now will buy it so I can pick it up when my fuel bills aren't at 13% inflation.

Ah, that makes more sense. When I hear "support" my mind instantly wanders to OP, which wouldn't make sense for Fleet Captains. :p

With that said, again, the two games are not mutually exclusive. :classic:

That's what I got out of it. But don't worry they have already been interviewed about and they have stated (and really aqwardly signed! Right Muncho? :p) that they are already working on the expansions for Fleet Captains.

I'm going to guess that you might not have first hand knowledge of ST:Fleet Captains........if that is so you should check out the rules or any of the review vids you can find to get a better understanding of the game.

If you do have first hand knowledge.............well you should proably know that a clix battle ship game is very different than Fleet Captains.

Oh and before anyone asked, having played ST:FC several times and owning it..............I do not expect the ships to be cross compatable. At all.

It was on the high end of my comfort range for buying a game but I think it's going to work out for me and the locals.

I bought the game at Gencon for $100...I happened be in the position for it and until this announcment I was positive the resale value would always be about the same from the value of the ships alone. this will devalue the boardgame ships somewhat (as another poster correctly said "they should NOT be compatible) especially since these new ships appear to be the same as ST captains.

i specifically meant expansions, i heard a romulan expansion was in the works, and i had hopes for cardassian, dominion, breen, borg, ferengi etc....

i am all for more star trek, but i love fleet captains, star trek is only partially about combat and that game captures its essence beautifully, an opinion echoed in all the reviews i have seen. it would be sad to never get more awesome material for such a beautfiul game.

if you continue expanding fleet captains, then you will have the support of my infectious enthusaism and my wallet. but if you abandon a great game for a skirmish game that is only a small part of star trek i will be sadly dissapointed.

so here is hoping for this AND more fleet captains.
