y is the line of elevated terrian, B is a random figure.
x is ground.
w= random figure
m, range combat that has distance to shoot B.
Does W block LoS?
If W had stealth, and was stealthed would that effect it at all?
If w had no figure, and was hindering, and B had stealth, would b be stealthed by the w terrain?
Elevated figures receive the advantage.
That advantage being that figures do not block line of sight and the only hindering terrain that affects their shot is the terrain the figure is standing in.
So if B is elevated and M is grounded then B can shoot M but M cannot shoot be due to the figure W being there. If W weren't there then B would receive the hindering terrain bonus to their defense.

Kroc is correct in everything. Just as he stated if W is 'grounded' then the elevated B gets all the advantages.
The group I played with last night cannot understand the faq/concept that the elevated attacker gets the bonus of LOF and not the other way around.
I gave up arguing the point and just let them play their way. In fact most folks just don't get it. but Elevated attackers get the bonus to grounded targets , but not vice versa
Look in the faq under LOF. It states that figures ALWAYS block LOF unless specifically stated elswhere such as rules for sentinals/ELEVATED attackers/targets.
good luck in trying to convince 'your group'
;)

ps.: they May tell you that it doesn't seem realisitc...well so is the fact thatthe Gumball Machine object would most likely not hinder a hovering Visions shot to the hulk on the other side of it...but it is just a silly game piece with rules that are quirky at times. If they can swallow that logic...they can swallow the elevated attacker's bonus as well ;)

Everything that KRoc said was true except the qouted line.
B would NOT get the hindering terrain bonus.
From the Rulebooks page 17
"If a line of fire between two figures on the ground passes through any square or squares containing hindering terrain, including the square that the target occupies, add 1 to the target’s defense value. This single increase is called the hindering terrain modifier."
