As most of you already knows, Wizkids and Pazio have teamed up to produce pre painted plastic minis for Paizo's wildly popular Pathfinder Rpg. 1st , with a 4 piece beginner's box version in November, and then a 40 piece set known as Heroes and Monsters.

Well, if you were wondering what these minis consists of (and look like), a Paizo poster was cool (and kind) enough to post a forum.

Here's the Link:

Does this starter pack teach you how to play this game? Does it play similiar to D&D?

So, it doesn't

But, paizo has a free pdf on the beginning box itself on it's site.
i'll post the link later tonight.

It is stated to be a more tighter version of D&D 3.5, and is supposed to clear many of the confusing game mechanics, classes, and races.

Thank you. I appreciate it.

What is the scale of these figures? Could they be swapped out for HeroClix figs?

Paizo just recently put out their own starter box for Pathfinder.

Does it play similar to D&D? It pretty much IS D&D, or at least the version that Wizards of the Coast abandoned when they went to 4th edition.

Paizo took the rules to 3.5 D&D and adjusted and tweaked them here and there and launched Pathfinder. That's it. Pathfinder is a modified version of 3.5. Pathfinder gives the players a lot more options. Everybody I know LOVES the game.

Another thing Pathfinder has over D&D 3.5 is that is still in print. If you introduce a player to D&D 3.5 nowadays and the player falls in love with the game, they'll have to scour e-Bay to find books that are often more expensive than they were brand new. If you introduce a player to Pathfinder and they fall in love with it, in addition to every place you could find the 3.5 books, you can find brand new versions on Amazon, local game stores, big chain book stores, and plenty of other places I'm sure I forgot to mention.

The scale for these figures is almost certainly a smaller scale than Heroclix. Our game uses 1 and a half inch squares. All of the Paizo map packs that they have put out and continue to put out use 1 inch squares, which matched up perfectly with the D&D pre-painted minis.

These guys are going for being compatible with standard RPG mini scales rather than the slightly bigger scale we use for Heroclix.

This is great! I appreciate the information very much. I didn't want to buy these figures, and not know how to play the game. Thanks again!

To officially confirm this, these are 28 mm scale. So they will not be heroclix compatible.

HeroClix is supposed to be 28mm.

I know it's supposed to, but the clix bases makes it more like like 30mm.
I know know from using Clix in my Marvel Universe RPG campaign.

I tend to use a 2" spuare grid for them.

On that note, there are also some oddly large heroclix figures that are not 30mm. IE Wonder Woman from Arkham, Nightwing from Crisis... they won't be 100 percent on par but will certainly be less out of place than WW and Nightwing.

I'll agree with that,Ironman. Scaling has always been an issue as far as Miniatures in general, just look at most Gnomes/ Halfling figures. Seems that no matter what company scultps them, those two races in particular always seems to be the most inconsistent.
