View Full Version : Last One Standing, a not quite a mafia game

This is not quite mafia.

Rather, this will be a game of outwitting and eliminating your opponents played entirely via pm with writeups like "DocDoom187 is dead. The game continues."

Each player will be given a character whose background, four stats (strength, speed, toughness and awareness) and skills (spear throwing, swimming, trap making, etc) will be determined entirely by me. You will have a partner, who you will be allowed to converse with.

Players will then proceed to the training room, where a variety of booths will be outlined to hone your skills. Players can train in archery, firemaking and the like to learn new skills and improve starting ones as well as converse with others if they wish to attempt to form alliances.

Finally, the players will be placed in an arena covering several square miles. Food, water and shelter are available to those smart enough to find it. Wild animals and natural dangers lie in wait for you all. I will pm/text you what you can see and you will pm/text me what you want to do about it. As everyone takes action, time will progress and I will pm/text you as your situation changes.

The goal is to kill all the other players. :devious:



I would like 24 players. I plan to start in late April.





(This game is loosely based on concepts from the Hunger Games book series, though no characters from the series will be present.)

Hmm... I've been considering taking a break from playing since I'm so overstretched I can't even focus on the games I'm in 100%, but I would love to try this.

Normally, I'd be like "Wrararhwawhwaha! Why isn't this filling up?"

But like...this isn't going to start for awhile because I have to come up with 3/4ths of the characters, still and detail the arena. Plenty of time before I need it full.

So I was thinking, since this game will have a good number of players and the game could potentially get held up whenever more than two players are in the same area (with everyone in the area waiting on one person to submit an action) and since this game will be played almost entirely off thread anyhow, it might be a good idea for me to get everyone's cell and play a lot of this game by text message.

Good idea? Bad idea?

If signups are still open I'd love to make this one of my first games to come back to. I'd be fine with the text messaging thing, though I'd still need wifi to do it, as I don't have a phone and use an Ipod app to text

24 roles were written for this last night. I'll be assigning them with what's left of my lunch break. Tonight, I'll start a small recruitment drive because I think this game will be more fun with me controling as few tributes as possible. I expect to start this at the end of next week.

Arena has been mapped and detailed. Combat system has been mostly worked out. Hand to hand is kinda tricky. I'm trying to keep things open ended and allow players to do whatever they want without having to come up with rules on the fly.

Hoping for 6 more players.
