I came by to see you, but you weren't home... What were you doing? You went on a mission, didn't you?

Stop staring at me like that. You know it freaks me out. Also, if you wouldn't mind putting that knife away, I might be more inclined to talk calmly with you.

Ohh... Sorry, force of habit. Now, tell me, what were you doing?

Yes, alright, I went on a mission. Just stop doing that!

Why didn't you take me?... Who went with you?

You know. Hulk and Warmachine.

What?! Clint's wife. What has gotten into you? Why are you acting so paranoid?

I was just trying to think of a reason that you didn't tell me what you were doing.

Well, I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but you are being ridiculous. I'll take you with me next time, if it will make you feel better.

Alright... Now tell me what happened.

Well let's see... it is a rather long story...
Some cosmic entity, named Maelstrom, defeated Thor and tricked Steve into thinking that Spider-Man did it. It all had something to do with the weird Captain Universe thing that happened to Spidey recently. He got Cap to pick up Thor's hammer, because he wasn't worthy to take it, and got him to fight Cosmic Spider-Man.
Mockingbird and I had just rescued some Nurse who had been captured by Hydra; we heard an explosion and saw Warmachine flying towards the battle. We quickly joined in to help Spider-Man, but ended up trying to save Hulk from a group of adversaries. Some were familiar, and some were not. Apparently, Maelstrom had simply conjoured them up to keep us busy, but they seemed real enough at the time. Dr. Strange and Iron Fist defeated the Hulk and Warmachine, while Mockingbird and I fought off a few adversaries that I have never met before: Roulette, Destiny, and someoneone named the Riddler.
Maelstrom and Steve, with all of Thor's power, defeated Cosmic Spider-Man and escaped with him. At which time he simply discarded with our illusionary assailants.
We did not have much time to recover, before more adversaries were sent our way. Warmachine, Hulk, Mockingbird, and I were confronted by Tony Stark. Even the Nurse offered her assistance. Apparently J. Jonah Jameson had convinced Tony that we were a menace and he brought in Iron Fist an someone he thought was Warmachine to help. I don't know if it was a Skrull, clone, or alternate dimension thing, but he was definitely as powerful as Warmachine. Iron Man and Warmachine fought as a powerful duo, and quickly defeated all of us.
Thankfully, at this time Steve broke free from the brainwashing. He returned Thor's hammer, and the three of us quickly dispatched Iron Man/Warmachine, and Iron Fist. I don't think that JJ will be giving us trouble for a while.
We still don't know what happened to Spider-Man. Wolverine and I are getting a group together to find him. Hopefully, before it is too late. Who knows what could be happening to him at the moment?

That's horrible, of course I will go help you find him. Let's just hope that some villians don't exploit this chance to go on a crime spree.

“Where is he? He should have been here by now,” Bucky impatiently inquired to no one in particular.
“He’ll show. Wolverine has too much respect for Peter to not be here,” mysterious superspy Natasha Romanoff said as Logan walked through the holographic wall to Captain America’s apartment.
“You can stop your whining, I’m here,” said the man named Logan, but known best as Wolverine, “and yes, I stopped for a beer, but that was only because Bugboy, here, was late.”
“Yes, well, sorry about that,” Ant-Man said as he used Pym particles to return to normal size, “you have no idea how hard it is to find ant out and about, this time a year.”
“Any word from Mr. Fantastic?”
“Yes. Dr. Richards had the chance to briefly study Spider-Man right after his ‘transformation.’ We have used what he found to track down him down. It seems that he hasn’t taken him anywhere, at least spatially. It seems that this Maelstrom entity has shifted them both to another dimension. Most likely to an alternate earth that could not provide the same resistance that our superhuman community can. We have modified Dr. Richards’ Negative Zone portal to take us there.”
“Sounds sketchy. You sure it’s gonna’ work,” Wolverine asked.
“75% sure.”
“Seventy Five Percent?!” exclaimed the Black Widow exclaimed.
“Heck, why make it so easy for us,” said Wolverine.
“We’ll be fine, we are the Avengers, and we will get Spider-Man back.”
Ready for a fight, Wolverine urged, “Then let’s get going. I got a few X-Men lined up to help us out.”
“Good. Natasha, start up your flying car. We have to get to the Baxter…” Bucky Barnes said as four ominous new arrivals came around the corner. Before anyone had time to say anything they had a fight on their hands. Buck threw up his shield, just in time to block a blow by some huge scorpion looking being. “Who are these guys? More of Maelstrom’s illusions?”
*SNIKT*
“Don’t matter, as long as they bleed like everyone else,” Wolverine said as he cut off the scorpion’s tail, followed by a powerful left hook from Barnes, knocking him out.
“I am Lord Recluse of the Arachnos. You will surrender now, or I will kill your woman,” said the leader of the group.
“Natasha!”
“I can take care of myself, James,” she said, tripping Recluse and knocking him into a brick wall.
Dr. Pym then shouted, “Guys, I’m getting a distress signal from the Baxter building. They are being attacked by Bullseye!”
“You two go! Web-Head needs your help, and Tasha and I can take on these posers,” shouted Wolverine.
“Come on, Hank. Let’s go,” yelled Bucky, as he jumped into the flying car and started it, looking back one last time to see Natasha knocking one of the villains onto the ground, "yeah, I guess so."

Within a few minutes, James Barnes and Hank Pym arrived at the Baxter Building, home of the Fantastic Four, but the fight was already over by the time they arrived. They walked into the lab to find the Invisible Woman and Storm wake up the Thing, as Mr. Fantastic and Beast working on the portal, and Psylocke leaning against the wall. The lab was in total disarray and filled with unconscious villains.
“Ah. Good to see that you made it,” said Reed Richards, as they walked in.
“Wasn’t Logan supposed to be with you?” asked Beast.
Hank Pym responded, “We had a run in with some Super Villains, ourselves. Wolverine and the Black Widow stayed behind to fight them. Said we should go on.”
“You may not be going anywhere for a while. Bullseye seriously damaged some of the internal wiring, and it will take a while to get in and repair it,” said Mr. Fantastic.
“Let me take a look,” Ant-Man said, as he shrank down to size that would allow him to get into the machine’s interior. “Looks like some wires are severed, but that is it. I may be able to repair it…” After a few minutes he came back out, “So, I have good news and bad news. I can fix everything, but in order to do so, I am going to have to stay in there to keep it working until you all come back, so I suggest you hurry.”
“And I wouldn’t suggest waiting to fix it completely,” said Dr. McCoy, “time is of the essence, at the moment.
“Then it is settled, Beast, Psylocke, and I will follow Mr. Barnes into the portal, and we will find Spider-Man,” said Ororo, Queen of Wakanda, the X-Man and former Fantastic Four member Storm.
“Let’s go then.”
Mr. Fantastic fired up the portal, as Ant-Man frantically, went back into the machine to keep it working. The four-man rescue team bravely stepped into the unknown in hopes of saving their fellow hero.

Bucky, Beast, Psylocke, and Storm walked through the portal in Mr. Fantastic’s lab and stepped into a desolate, barren wasteland. At first they were absolutely awestruck; unable to utter a word. Finally Storm spoke, “How could this happen? Where are we?”
“Based off of these geographical scans, it appears that we are in what would be Times Square,” Beast said fiddling with a portable computer device.
“You mean… this is New York?”
“Indeed… ah, I have picked up the cosmic energy that Spider-Man was exhibiting… It appears to be about two miles north of this position.”
“Then let’s get moving. We’re burning daylight people.”
“Agreed, we must rescue Spider-Man before it is too late,” said Storm, as the four of them headed on their way.

Stealthily returning from a reconnaissance of the strange compound’s surroundings, Psylocke reported, “No guards, no noticeable defense systems, it doesn’t look like anyone has been here for quite some time.”
“Beast, you sure that this is where the signal is leading us?”
“Positive, the cosmic energy that I detected is located in the middle of that building right there.”
“Well, let’s head in. Keep your eyes open. Who knows what surprises might be ahead of us?”
Of course, no sooner than he said that, than a group of adversaries appeared to stop their approach. A strange, zombie like being that goes by the name “Composite Superman,” flanked by two identical men, named Lord; some sort of telepath.
“More of Maelstrom’s illusions, it would appear, but do not underestimate them.”
These “illusions” proved to be no match for the combined might the X-Men and the new Captain America. With the guards defeated, the team moved into the facility.
Checking his scanner again, Beast stated, “We are approaching the energy signature… It should be in that next room.” They quietly entered the room, but unfortunately, there was no Spider-Man in sight. Instead, they were confronted by an odd assortment of combatants. Some were familiar; some not.
“Remember, these are not your friends, just dark reflections of them. We will take them down hard and fast, just like last time.”
And Bucky’s confidence was well founded. Storm quickly sent a bolt of lightning into their mix, striking Sabretooth, allowing Beast to move in for a powerful kick to the face. Apparently, Maelstrom either wasn’t able to properly reproduce his healing factor. Psylocke hit Iron Fist hard, allowing Bucky to hit him with his shield, followed by a swift KO on Scarlet Witch as well. The unknown character, someone named “Deadshot” took a couple shot, which rebounded off of Captain America’s shield. Beast charged him, and hit him a couple of times to finish him off.
After the fight, Beast reexamined his scanning device, “The cosmic energy signature is gone, but I am reading some sort of life sign, through that door.”
“I’ll check it out. Stand back,” James Barnes said, as he bravely opened the door… “Spider-Man! Hey, guys, come help me remove these restraints.” They were able to get Spider-Man free, but they were not able to get him to regain consciousness. “We better get out of here. Beast, carry Spider-Man. Storm, take point; fly ahead and watch for trouble. Let’s get back to the portal, people. We’re getting our friend home."

Right as they were about to make their escape, new adversaries appeared. Two Captain Americas accompanied by Falcon and two Phalanx Soldiers. They’re in trouble. Setting Spider-Man down for a moment, Beast entered the fray and took down one of the Captain America’s, with Storm raining hail and winds on him, as a distraction. Psylocke and Bucky went for the other, but were quickly overtaken by Cap and Falcon. Beast and Storm were defeated as well.
The team was just a few meters from the portal, but they were unable to reach it. Will our heroes be able to make their return, saving Spider-Man, or will they be trapped on this counter earth forever?

Thanks. It almost writes itself. Unfortunately, Bucky won't be getting out for the next few weeks. I can't use him in next week's scenerio and Hulk comes out after that. He should be making it back around the beginning of the year.
I will be adding tonight's story sometime tomorrow.

I have been keeping up with all of the Thugit Inc. threads. In fact, I got the idea for writing a storyline from what you originally did.
Sorry for it taking so long to get last week's finished, but I have been rather busy taking care of finals and haven't had much time. I am hoping to finish sometime tomorrow.

We return to our heroes trapped in this dreaded mirror of their world; barely ten feet away from their escape. Beast and Psylocke are down, and Storm is just getting to her feet, but Buck and Storm are no match for their opponents in their weakened form. But when it seemed that all is lost…
*BAMF*
Nightcrawler appears in their midst. “How can I be of service, mein freunds,” he asked as the shocked guards attacked, but Storm held them back with a gale force wind.
“Kurt! Thank the goddess. I will hold them back while I can.”
“Get Beast and Psylocke out of here first, and then get Spider-Man,” pointing to their unconscious comrade, behind him.
“Aye, aye Captain,” he said as he grabbed up his fellow X-Men, “but we must hurry, the portal will close any minute.”
*BAMF*
Seconds later, Nightcrawler reappeared in a puff of smoke. He picked up Spider-Man and was just about to ‘port, when the trans-dimensional portal collapsed, send a shock wave out, and knocking everyone off their feet, while Spider-Man kept snoozing.
“Nein!”
“Looks like their down, for the count,” examining the motionless bodies of the Captain America and Falcon impostors. They immediately dissipated into nothing, just like the other constructs that Maelstrom had created. “Nightcrawler, did Dr. Richards say anything about repairing the portal?”
“He told me that it damaged beyond repair, that it would take him and Dr. Pym at least a week to build another.” They then heard a slight groan, behind them.
“Ugh… Where am I,” Spider-Man asked to no one in particular as he started to stand up, “Am I dead?... Why does Heaven smell like a wet…” looking around, “Ah, Come on! Where’s Wolverine when you need him?”
“Spider-Man! Are you okay?”
“Huh,” looking over at the three of them, “Yeah, I’m fine, I think. What happened?”
“Long story… we got to get out of here. Look for some shelter or…”
“Uh oh,” said Spidey, “My Spider-Sense is going crazy!”
“What do you mean by tha…” looking behind Spider-Man to see zombies coming out of the ground, “Oh...Watch out!” as he hurled his shield at the approaching horde hitting a disgusting, one armed figure…
“Wolvie! I knew you were here! Now, I was saying something about you smelling like a wet, YIKES!” Spider-Man yelped as a zombie version of himself tried to grab him from behind. “Hello, handsome. Well, your costume could use a little bit of work.” He hit his doppelganger hard, and then jumped in to fight Wolverine.
Then a new figure started to grow in from of them, “Is that…?” Storm asked.
“I believe so,” said Nightcrawler as a huge burst of energy blasted Giant-Man, knocking him to the ground. Bucky took a few shots to make sure he stayed that way before turning around to see the most unlikely figure coming to their rescue… Dr. Doom.
“We can discuss things later, but first I must destroy these creatures’ puppet-master,” Doom declared as he shot another energy beam at a figure in the distance. “Magnus! Give it up; we have won, this day.”
“That shall not last,” said a man who looked just like Magneto, from their world, “my master shall bathe in your bl…” Before he could finish, Doom vaporized him. Immediately, the zombie horde collapsed into dust.
“Now we must go where it is safe to speak,” and before anyone could respond, Doom transported them to his castle.

“Doom! What are you doing? Why have you taken us here?”
“How do you… I was under the impression that I was trying to save your life… You are not from here, are you?”
“No, we aren’t. I realize that I shouldn’t have responded so harshly, but from we come from, you are the last person I would expect to come to our rescue. Was it really necessary to kill him?”
“I see… It was the best choice. I am the last one left who can truly fight against Darkseid, I don’t assume that you have one of him, where you are from,” Doom answered. “I may be able to send you home, if that is what you wish, but first I must ask a favor.”
“No, we do not. What is this favor?” Storm asked.
Pointing towards their blue furred ally, “What is your name, son?”
“Kurt, ah, Kurt Wagner… but most call me ‘Nightcrawler.’”
“I witnessed you teleporting, earlier. How do you do that?” Doom inquired.
“It is my mutant ability. I travel into another dimension and come out where I want to be, but there are limits, such as I must see where I am going.”
“Extra-Dimensional Teleportation?... that is perfect, why have I never thought of that before?! Darkseid keeps his castle protected with a magical barrier that I cannot penetrate, but it should not do anything to hinder someone travelling through another dimension. Do you think that a highly detailed map of a room would allow you teleport into it.”
“Probably, but I would have to be close.”
“Wonderful! Then, if you will join me, perhaps we can finally set this world free from his tyrannical rule!” Doom exclaimed.
“Whoa! What do you plan on doing when this ‘Darkseid’ is no longer in power?”
“I have no idea really. I will try to help the remaining survivors rebuild society. Once that is finished, I may retreat to a private sanctuary and work to further hone my magical talents, and I will return to protect the planet, if it should ever need it.”
“My brain is telling me not to trust you, but my gut is telling me that you are right… Who am I to argue? Let’s go!”
“WHOOOOO! REV-O-LU-TION!!!!!” exclaimed Spidey, as Doom took them to Darkseid’s palace.

“Now, we should be expecting Darkseid’s personal guard, the Elites, anytime now,” Doom warned, “once we have taken care of them, then we take out Darkseid.”
Just like that, a horde of insidious looking aliens, who must be the Elites, accompanied by some sort of midget alien, with a rocket launcher. Without thinking, Bucky chooses the most dangerous target and hurls his shield. He hits perfectly, knocking out the small alien. Spider-Man jumps into the fray, taking on all three of the Elites, at once. He dodged every attack and knocked two of them out, while Nightcrawler snatches the third and brings him back for Doom and Storm to hit with powerful lightning.
During the entire time, a strange creature, in some sort of hover chair, has been sitting back and barking orders. Instead of staying and fighting, he runs, but is not pursued by the team, because they have a bigger target in mind.
“Okay, Nightcrawler, here is the layout of the building,” pointing to a specific room, Doom spoke, “Darkseid will be sitting on his throne… here. He has two bodyguards at all time, called ‘Supermen,’ but you should be able to get in and out before having to deal with them… got it?”
“Be right back, mein freunds.”
*BAMF*
Then he was back, “I brought you a present,” Nightcrawler said as he teleported in with a huge, monstrous being, named Darkseid.
“What do you want, Doom? My men will be here shortly, and you will not be able to stand against them,” Darkseid spat, in anger.
“Quite the contrary. I have been working on a few tricks, and with your magical protection gone, I can finally defeat you.”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” screamed the tyrant as he was struck by green lightning and completely disappeared.
“What did you do to him?”
“Let’s just say that he is seeing the universe from a much smaller, much unusual perspective. He’ll be back, but you have given this world a fighting chance, and we will be ready. Now, I will open a portal from whence you came. I won’t bother trying to explain how I did that or how I knew where to send you… Good bye, my friends, and thank you for saving my world.”
Storm, Nightcrawler, and Spider-Man walked through the portal. “I call that a Tuesday. Thanks for everything, Doom,” Bucky saluted him, as he stepped through the doorway back home.

I have been keeping up with all of the Thugit Inc. threads. In fact, I got the idea for writing a storyline from what you originally did.
Sorry for it taking so long to get last week's finished, but I have been rather busy taking care of finals and haven't had much time. I am hoping to finish sometime tomorrow.

Cool! I loved doing that storyline and found it enjoyable. I just didn't want to run the risk of getting "OH NOES FAN FIC LAWYERZ" on meeee. :(

But I'm still posting my games on there!

James Buchanan Barnes, you have been chosen to serve as my champion. I am the Grandmaster, and you must prove yourself. Your allies will arrive shortly.
“Well I hope you aren’t expecting me to do anything for you, because I’m not much for taking orders anymore, especially from some fat head. So, why don’t you get lost and send me home or are we going to have to do this the hard way?”
“You have no choice,” the Grandmaster replied, “Prepare yourself for the challenges ahead. Good luck, Captain.” With that, the cosmic being vanished and Bucky examined his surroundings for the first time. He was back in Europe, during the war. Floods of memory washed over him, some good, but most bad. Who are these allies? He thought to himself, and his answer was given shortly.
Captain America, accompanied by several allied soldiers, approached. “Mind explaining yourself, soldier. It’s not exactly everyday that you meet your doppelganger.”
“It’s a long story… Let’s just say that I replace you sometime, in the future.”
“It’s good to know that the legacy lives on, but how exactly did you end up here?” spoke Bucky’s oldest friend, “have we met? You seem every familiar.”
“Yes, but not yet.” It wasn’t exactly a lie. It’s not like he was the same boy that he was during the war. “Unfortunately, this isn’t a social visit. It seems that I have been recruited by a psychotic alien to fight in some sort of cosmic battle, and somehow dragged you all into it.”
“I see… Well, if we can handle Nazis, I am sure that we can handle some green skinned monsters. Count us in.”
“Then let the games begin,” an ominous and disembodied voice thundered. “First, you must enter the home of a man from another world, and there you must prove your worthiness by defeating him and his allies.” The hardened soldiers appeared inside a strange structure comprised completely of crystals, and filled with strange relics and machines. “You are now in the fortress of Kal-El, the Superman.”
Three figures appeared in the distance. The first, who was most obviously this ‘Superman’, was a tall man wearing a white and black outfit with a large S on his chest. The second wore some sort of Metallic armor and carried a spear. Finally, the third looked like he was a part of outer space itself, except for the very human head showing. The first two charged forward, one nearly decapitating Cap with a single blow, but two of the Howling Commandos intervened. However, they were severely injured almost immediately. This gave time for Bucky to rebound his shield off the back of Superman’s skull, which dazed him enough for Cap to hit him with good ol’ American left hook.
Meanwhile, Sgt. Rock and his two most trustworthy Easy Company Soldiers, were taking the left flank in an attempt to take on the enemies from behind. Rock accidently bumped into a strange, red stone, and became a Human Juggernaut. They were momentarily distracted, which gave Superman the chance to break away from Cap, leaving him to fend off the powerful being named Magog, and take a swing at Bucky, who just barely blocked the blow, before Superman flew down to the ground to meet with Starboy. One of the soldier’s surprised Starboy by hitting him with a perfectly aimed shot, launching him right next to Bucky, who, with one swing of his shield, knocked him cold. The second soldier barraged Superman with bullets, distracting him long enough for JuggerRock to charge in and take him out. Cap had made one good strike against Magog, before being KO’d with an armored fist.
The four remaining soldiers ran up the stairs and completely demolished Magog with a massive impact of bullets, before Bucky finally launched the red, white, and blue shield with all his might, sending Magog into a long and painful sleep.
“Well done, but this is the easiest of challenges you must face. Next you will travel to a war torn future and fight a man who is ready to fight anyone that is in his way, and there are two of Superman’s friends who are making sure that he believes that you are. I will even let your Sgt. Keep his newly found powers, for now.”
Cap and the Howlers were immediately restored, before they, Bucky/Cap, the Easy Company Soldiers, and the Hulk’s little brother Rock were transported to a collapsing bridge in New York City, opposite an enraged, gun slinging, mutant and his out of time parents. They were not alone; two teammates of Starboy’s were projecting the illusion that the WWII soldiers were agents of Apocalypse.
Cable charged into the battle field blasting nearly incinerating Cap, who was only able to partially deflect the blow. Bucky launched his shield perfectly collapsing the cover that the Summers family was hiding behind, allowing Cap to fling his shield, which strongly deflected off of Cable’s head into his parental duo. Furious, Cable propels himself at Captain America, but only lands a glancing blow. JuggerRock charges in to grapple with the mutant, wearing him down, so that Cap can make one precise attack to take him down. The Howlers search for the two invisible Legionnaires, while Bucky and the Easy company soldiers riddle the two X-Men into the ground with bullets. The two Howling Commandos find the futuristic manipulators and the battle weary soldiers surround them. Princess Projectra and the Invisible Kid stand little chance against the mass and quickly fall.
“Excellent! You might be my champion yet, mortal. Now, face your final and greatest challenge. First, I will remove the power bestowed upon your Sgt. So that the challenge will be greater. Now, you will journey back to the past and face off against a few familiar faces. Worry not. This is not a betrayal, for no man can resist the sweet songs of the Banshee.”
“I’m getting really tired of this!” Again, the group was relocated, and this time to something of a familiar sight; a war torn battlefield. Across this familiar sight was a squad of Howling Commandos and a strange wild eyed, wild haired woman. The Commandos charged forward, guided by the voice of the Silver Banshee. An epic battle ensued between the closest of friends, but there had to be no holding back. Many of the Howlers were badly wounded by the time the ball dropped. Another Captain America, this time a real copy of Steven Rogers, stepped out of the shadows and charged at his doppelganger, getting a lucky shot off in the surprise of the moment. The real Captain America recovered quickly by leaping into combat and fighting his dark twin. The two Captains were at a standstill, and were unable to finish the other off, until Bucky intervened. With the expert eye of a sniper, the former Winter Soldier pulled out his pistol and fired off a shot that tore into the Captain’s evil doppelganger, forcing himself to believe that it couldn’t be the real Steve.
With the false Captain America out of the way, the rest of the battle was relatively easy. The mind controlled Howlers fell, allowing for everyone to gang up on the Banshee. Finally, with a thrust of his shield, Bucky landed the final blow, proving himself a valiant champion for the eternal Elder of the Universe.
“You have proven yourself a worthy champion. We shall meet again, James Buchannan Barnes, when I have need of you. Until then, I will restore your allies to the moment before your meeting, and I will send you back to the future.”
“And what if I refuse to act as your ‘Champion’?”
“You will have no choice but to act on my behalf. Good luck in your endeavors, Captain. I will be watching.”

Bucky's adventures begin next week as he finally returns home after a long and tiresome journey through time a space and time again.

Bucky let out a sigh of relief as he stepped out of the dimensional portal into the lab of Dr. Reed Richards, better known as “Mr. Fantastic”, who was currently working furiously at a computer console with several worried super-people watching him. Only two other Fantastic Four members were present: the Thing and the Human Torch. Also, Spider-Man and Storm were there as well.
“Thank the goddess,” Storm exclaimed when she realized that he had appeared, “You were gone for several minutes and we had grown worrisome.”
“I’m fine, but where is Nightcrawler? Is he alright?”
“He is fine,” the tall, African mutant assured him, “We sent him get some help, and Sue has taken her children away from the building.”
“Why do we need help? What is wrong?”
“It seems that Stretch, here, decided to invite a few monsters and aliens to supper,” the Thing loudly interjected.
“I did no such thing,” Mr. Fantastic responded calmly, then turned to Bucky, “My instruments registered that you had entered the portal, but when you did not appear in the lab, I began to scan several other dimensions in an attempt to figure out what was wrong, and I may have…”
An impatient Johnny Storm interrupted, “Long story, short: Mr. Genius triggered some sort of big, technical word or another that caused the portal to constantly open up in other universes.”
“I can fix it,” Richards explained, “but something might come through beforehand.”
“That’s just great! What’s next? Is the Hulk hiding in the closet?
“Ask and you shall receive, Bub,” Wolverine spoke as he walked into the lab, smoking a cigar and tailed by the Gray Hulk and the King of Wakanda.
“Who are you calling ‘Hulk’, puny? Name’s Joe Fixit.”
“Hey Joe, are you having some sort of relapse?” Spider-Man joked “I haven’t seen you this pleasant and gray since the time we thought the Fantastic Four was dead… too bad they took their house back when we found out they weren’t.”
“Your lips keep flappin’.”
Meanwhile, the Black Panther and Storm quietly reunite, “My Queen, it is most wonderful to see you again.”
“Likewise, T’Challa. Do you know why you are here?”
“Only that our friends require help, and I am here to do so.”
“Looks like we’re going to need a lot more of it,” Spidey yelped as Apocalypse, the most ancient and powerful of mutants stepped through the portal, accompanied by two of his Horsemen. “Whoa, Wolvie, what’s up with that Tron outfit… wait a minute. If you’re Wolverine and you’re Wolverine, then who is the real Wolverine. and where is the tron me...”
“Silence, fool!” Archangel cried as he dove at Spider-Man.
“If you insist,” he replied as he dodged out of the way and shot a web at Archangel, only to be pulled into the next room.
Apocalypse and Tron Wolverine charged at the Fantastic three, as well as the former members: Storm, Black Panther, Wolverine, and Joe Fixit. Bucky tried to go to their aid, but was distracted by a new set of foes.
SHAZAM!
Black Adam, the mystical and powerful equivalent to Superman charged into the lab from another dimension, accompanied with his protégé, Osiris; the Speedster of death, Black Flash; the evil Ocean Master; and the man who is the Demon, Jason Blood.
“Looks like you could use some help, Handsome,” spoke Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, followed by several of New York’s silent protectors. Black Cat and Cloak emerged from the darkness to distract Black Adam and separate his allies, causing Osiris and Ocean Master to take their attack to the Fantastic Four. With the immortal possessing the Strength of Amon distracted, Electra leaped from her hiding place, hitting Adam just right to cause his to stagger. Enraged, he takes a swing at her, but misses, while the Black Flash is beating down on Cloak.
While most of the Marvel Knights are keeping Black Adam at bay, the Punisher is sneaking his way behind Apocalypse and Spider-Man and Archangel maneuver around each other without landing a blow. Joe Fixit and the Thing surprise Apocalypse with a couple of powerful attacks, but no one else seems to be able to hurt him. However, Mr. Fantastic takes a hard blow from the Horseman Wolverine, though he returns in kind shortly; while the real one busts through a wall and nearly takes Osiris’s head off, and Storm strikes the aquatic blunder before he can do any damage.
Using his intelligence and keen sonar sense, Daredevil flings his baton to distract Adam while Luke Cage rips a large machine out of the wall and charges at him, delivering a hard blow. Horribly weakened, Adam falls to one knee allowing the Black Widow to strike him at range before her patriotic compatriot flings his red, white, and blue indestructible shield with all his might pounding into the head of the godlike being, but even the stamina of Shu must yield for it.
Apocalypse hits Black Panther with a powerful fist as his minion, Wolverine, defeats Mr. Fantastic. A furious Storm summons a power lightning strike to hit him, which propels the brainwashed Wolverine right next to Bucky, who promptly dares him to heal from a full force punch in the face with his shield. Osiris and Ocean Master flee to Apocalypse, who claims them as his allies, however, after the Black Flash strikes against Joe Fixit, Apocalypse claims his mind and rejects the brother of Black Adam.
Daredevil leaps to the aid of Spider-Man, but his radar sense confuses him when he gets near the Baxter Building holographic receptionist and he hurts himself, instead. However, he quickly recovers allowing him and Spider-Man to defeat their foe, the Horsemen of Death, Archangel. As this is happening, Electra hits the mage, but is also wounded by an unknown force. “Rise the Demon, Etrigan!” She hears as the simple wizard transforms into a powerful monster. “Your time here is at an end, for my revenge will now descend.”
“Oh, shut up!” Electra exclaims, working through the pain and knocking out her hellish opponent.
Punisher shoots the Ocean Master, killing him with one shot, he immediately throws down his sniper and grabs his assault rifle, hoping to overwhelm Apocalypse. However, he has no such luck. Nor does Osiris or any of the Fantastic Four, for Wolverine and a wounded Black Panther were working to defeat the brainwashed Hulk, and eventually did, but not before the Black Flash defeated the Panther’s queen before moving onto Osiris. It seems the swiftness of Heru was enough to conquer the Flash after a time and the black speedster met his fate.
Now only Apocalypse stood strong, surrounded by the wounded heroes. He simply started to emit bursts of powerful energy sweeping over nearly everyone in the room, wounding them horribly. Everyone swarmed around him but were unable to harm the colossal mutant. The new Captain America flung his shield at the giant, but in a perplexing event, he missed his target. Apocalypse simply laughed at him. This, however, allowed Daredevil to pound a baton into each of his eyes. Horribly dazed, Luke Cage tackled his leg, bringing him down to the ground and Bucky unloaded his entire clip into the mutant’s chest.
“I meant to do that,” Bucky explained catching his shield as it rebounded back to him.
In his last seconds of consciousness, Apocalypse murmured, “I just wanted to know what you thought of my life-size X-Men action figures.”

Tuesday's narrative should be up soon. I think that thugit will be pleased with how Bane smoked my team. He KO'd Redwing, Hulk, Bucky/Cap, and Cho, nearly Venom Pumping himself to death in the process.

Bucky was finally back in his own time and his own home. Steve Rogers had ordered him to take some leave, and now that he is back, Captain America is just waiting for a mission. He was incredibly surprised, however, when a call came in, reporting that three Hulks were attacking Arkham Asylum. Amadeus Cho was the only other team member in Avengers Tower at the time, and he immediately got in contact with the Avenger’s leading Gamma specialist to help with this issue. Luckily, Falcon was in the neighborhood, and the foursome quickly boarded a Quinjet and headed for Gotham City.
They landed down on a bridge leading to the asylum, where they met some of the escaping inmates. Deadshot clipped Falcon’s wing, causing him to crash land, but his trusty avian ally, Redwing, dove at the sniper keeping him from doing any more damage. Deadshot, Nightshade, and Black Alice all tried to stop the crimson falcon, but all failed in their attempts. Finally, Bane was fed up with this distraction and charged the poor bird, knocking him out cold. Furious, the Hulk charged at the venom pumped villain. “Mean man not hurt pretty bird!”
Unfortunately, he missed. Deadshot hit Hulk with a precision shot, and Bane pumped up to teach Hulk who the strongest was. Hulk was now badly hurt, but the wounded Falcon and Captain ran to his rescue, or at least they tried. They all fell quickly, one by one, until only Cho remained. He had been helping from a distance, but now his time was done. Bane venom pumped and pounded Cho into oblivion. He only survived because Batman leapt out of the shadows, accompanied by several of Gotham Cities finest and questionable. Bane and his fellow escapees ran off to leave the recovering Avengers to defend themselves against the legendary Batman, who mistook them for escaping inmates.
Batman and Nightwing stealthily moved up to the Avengers and, both throwing a Batarang, knocked Cho out quickly. Bucky, with the might of the mechanical arm given to him by the Soviets, picked up a piece of rubble and ran up to Batman’s hiding spot. Meanwhile, Falcon, now reunited with Redwing, charged at Nightwing, and the two spent the rest of the battle holding each other at bay. Hulk smashed a boulder into the Justice Society Green Lantern’s head with such tremendous force that he was launched right past the Question and nearly landed on the reformed Edward Nigma.
Green Lantern retaliated, blasting Hulk into an enormous rage. Bucky hit Batman hard once, and the two then spent a while trading blows, before the Bat finally fell before the might of the Red, White, and Blue shield. Hulk leap into battle with the Green Lantern and eventually defeated him, but not before he had been worn down enough, that the Question and Nigma were able to work together to topple him. As the Hulk fell, so did Nightwing, leaving Falcon and Captain America to take care of the remaining opponents.
Hulk was getting, so Bucky went to check on Cho’s condition. “How are you holding up, Soldier?”
“I should be fine,” Cho responded.
“Hulk feel better, too. Feel like smashing something.”
“Let’s take care of what we are here for, then. Move out, Avengers!”
The four of them entered Arkham Asylum to see mass destruction everywhere. All of the cells were empty and half of the walls had huge holes in them. It was a wonder that the building was even standing. And then they saw what had caused the destruction. Falcon spoke in a shocked tone, “It looks like a Hulked out Spider-Man, Wolverine, and…”
“…me,” Bucky interrupted, “But how is this possible?”
“There are several different possibilities,” Cho explained, “Time travel, alternate dimensions, clones…”
“No time for talk! Hulk smash fake Hulks now!” Hulk yelled as the leaped at the Spider-Hulk, “Hulk show you who is strongest ever!”
Spider-Hulk, only got stronger from being hit and jumped away from Hulk and tried to hit the other Cho. He missed, however, and Cho and Falcon spent some time trying to fight him off. Meanwhile, Bucky was fighting Wolverage, as the Winter Hulk was trying to throw his shield at Cho, without much success. Cho, not being much of a fighter, tried to separate from himself from Spider-Hulk, but was chased and hit in the back, knocking him into the next room. Falcon charge at the Spider, while Bucky broke off from his opponent to aid Falcon in his attempts to rescue their teammate and succeeded in stopping him cold. Hulk entered the fight against Wolverage, and wounded him enough, that Bucky could fling his shield and defeat the furry giant. Cho was defeated by a powerfully propelled shield from Winter Hulk, and Hulk responded by pounding, crushing, and smashing the Hulked out captain into the ground.
With Arkham Asylum saved, the Avengers were able to work out the problem with Batman and go home, the mission a success.

Come back next week as Bucky battles for the Soul Gem.

Bucky and the Marvel Knights had a great victory in the first game, but lost to the might of Darkseid in the second. Bucky was KO'd immediately, but the rest of the game was very close. Punisher and Black Widow survived the game untouched, and Darkseid was about halfway down his dial. Luckily, I won the fellowship roll and got an In-Betweener.

“Monitor Duty! You can’t be serious; I just had it.”
“Yes, you did… last month,” Iron Man corrected him.
“All right; you and the Avengers head out. Jarvis and I will hold down the fort.”

A few hours after the Avengers left, a message came in. A bizarre figure appeared on the screen, half of his body was as black as the nothingness of space and the other was as white as the purest of light.
“Attention heroes of earth, I, the In-Betweener, am to be the first of six immortal beings to bestow an Infinity Gem upon a mortal champion or champions. Beings from all over the universe and all dimensions will compete for the possession of the invaluable Soul Gem. Meet near this communications device in one day’s time and you will be transported to my domain.”
Bucky immediately tried to contact the Avengers, but the Skrulls must have been keeping them busy in Wakanda. Next, he tried to contact the X-Men, but they were likewise unavailable. Finally, he called the Baxter Building, but the Fantastic Four’s holographic secretary said something about chasing mole monsters through the earth’s crust. “Well, Jarvis, if I can’t get a team, I will just have to make one.”
He explained everything to the Black Widow who suggested that she might know a few individuals who could help them. Likewise, Captain America of the Avengers had little trouble calling in a couple of the reserve Avengers. The next day, the entire team had assembled in Avengers Tower. Jarvis was bidding them farewell when the In-Betweener’s image appeared on the screen, again. “It is time.” And with that short sentence, Captain America, Black Widow, Ghost Rider, the Punisher, Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Spider-Man were no longer on their home planet, but were standing in a huge coliseum surrounded by dozens of super powered beings, with even more appearing.
“Wait, that’s Darkseid!” Spider-Man exclaimed, “Didn’t the nice Doom destroy him a couple of months ago?” Then three more Darkseids appeared out of thin air.
“It’s safe to say that this is not a normal get together, Spider-Man,” Daredevil stated.
“Did you really have to bring along your ex-boyfriend,” Bucky whispered to Natasha, but before she could respond, an overwhelming voice pronounced that the matching’s were made and that the battles would commence. Everyone vanished again and the group found themselves on Soul World with Superman, an all too familiar face to Bucky, as well as a similarly dressed young woman and a zombie like combination of Superman and Batman. Finally, it seems that Black Adam, who nearly destroyed Mr. Fantastic’s lab had returned as well.
“Let’s move in, soldiers, but be cautious. These are very powerful opponents.”
Taking no heed in his warnings, Spider-Man leap into the fray, dodging the swift and powerful attacks from both Supergirl and Black Adam. Seeing as a well planned strike was out of the question, the others charged forward as well. Iron Fist caught up with Superman, and dealt him quite a blow with his mystically powered fists. Unfortunately, Superman’s retaliation was much more powerful and Rand was horribly wounded. He continued in combat, allowing his comrades to defeat the others.
Supergirl flew in at high velocity, striking Ghost Rider with her Kryptonian might, however, it seems that his mystical essence damaged her slightly as a result. Ghost Rider hit her once with his flaming chain before Black Adam flew in with enough force to defeat the Rider. It seems that even his great might was not enough to stop the hellfire from hurting him as well. Bucky, Black Widow, and the Punisher then proceeded to pound continuous bullet fire into them, however they were not in time to save Spider-Man from the speed of Heru and the might of a Kryptonian.
Daredevil went to the defense of his comrade, Iron Fist, and the two held off Superman for some time, however it was not until the Punisher joined them that the powerful alien fell. Finally, this left Natasha Romanoff and James Barnes to take care of the Composite Superman, and in doing so, the team was on its way to proving its worthiness.
After a short bit of rest and watching the other combatants fight, the Marvel Knights were faced off against a strange team up of many familiar foes. The most notable of which is Darkseid, though it is unknown if it is the one they defeated some time ago. He was accompanied by Ulik, ruler of the Rock Trolls; Blob, the world’s fattest mutant; an A.I.M. Agent; and a time traveler by the name of Rip Hunter.
They quickly go into battle, but their leader, the symbol of hope for the entire United States, Captain America, is struck down by a blast of energy from Darkseid, but not before he got one good shot off on Rip Hunter. One by one our heroes fall, leaving only the Punisher and Black Widow. Darkseid was not without casualties, though. All but he and Rip Hunter remained. The two agents of stealth used their vast knowledge of firearms to severely weaken the powerful alien, but the round is called finished due to time and Darkseid is declared the winner.
Instead of being sent back to earth, the team was left to watch the continuing battles. Finally, Darkseid was faced off against another Superman to decide who would possess the Soul Gem. Knowing that he could not let an evil being, such as Darkseid, to control such a powerful item, Bucky snuck off from the group and using his Winter Soldier training, he made his way around the pedestal where the gem was kept. All eyes were on the ensuing battle and no one saw him approach. The instant he grabbed the Soul Gem he found himself in a white void, with the gem in his hand.
The In-Betweener approached him and said, “This tournament is structured and weighs heavily towards the order of the universe, however, when you attempted to steal the Soul Gem, you introduced chaos, therefore bringing balance… Well done, you have proven yourself; no wonder the Grandmaster thinks so highly of you.”
“Go, the gem is yours. May your journeys be safe and your battles be victorious, but remember, the balance in the universe will find you eventually.”

Bucky will not be doing battle next week; instead he will discuss the Infinity Guantlet with an old war buddy.

Captain America reappeared in Avengers Tower, along side his fellow heroes. Jarvis was incredibly shocked, saying that they had only been gone for a few seconds. Bucky looked at the emerald gem in his hand and was immediately overwhelmed by it. He could see his father and all of his friends who died in the war. Then there was everyone that he killed as Winter Soldier. He could sense the essense of everyone in the room and he could feel the power in his hand, the power of life and death. He fell to his knees as he fought the will to bring back all who he had lost or unfairly killed ane the urge to destroy all who he despised. The Soul Gem was so powerful that he knew that he could not hold onto if forever, or he would succumb to his desires eventually. Likewise, he could not let it fall into the wrong hands.
The Black Widow gasped as he fell. "James, are you all right?" she asked as she quickly approached him. Finally getting his barrings, he responded.
"I'm fine... but I need to call Steve. He'll know of someplace that I can store this safely."
The others had just left when Steve Rogers landed on the roof in a SHIELD Quinjet, where Bucky explained the situation to him.
"Do you have any idea what these Infinity Gems are?"
"Yeah, I do, and I think I know a place that we can keep it secure. Get in and I will explain on the way."
As they took off and flew away from New York, Steve explained the whole story about the Illuminati and the Infinity Gems. Thanos, in his eternal desire for power, had recently attacked all of them and taken all of the Gems. Dr. Strange immediately left, explaining that he had a plan to defeat Thanos, and that he had to commune with the Elders of the Universe.
"This must have been the plan. Somehow, the original owners of the Gems must have found another of the Gems and are trying to determine who the best individual is to defeat Thanos... remember what you told me about the Grandmaster?"
"Yeah... so he is one of these 'Elders'?"
"I think so. Which means that he expected that you had the ability to do this, and he must not have been disappointed."
"He said that we would meet again. Maybe he has one of the gems and will be testing me again."
"We are getting close. Let me activate a cloaking device and we will start our descent."
"Where? We're in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean."
"Exactly. Namor told us about a secret structure that has been abandoned for centuries. Only Namor, Tony Stark, Charles Xavier, Dr. Strange, Reed Richards, myself, and now you know of its existence. We have all sorts of security precautions and psychic alarms set up if anyone other than us are to enter. I'll have to enter you into the system and then we should be able to enter," Steve explained as he flew the Quinjet under the water and eventually docked with a undersea structure, built into a trench wall.
"There is a stable atmosphere inside," Steve said as he worked at a console in the airlock. "There, you should be good. Come on, there is a vault that we can store it in."
The two war veterans entered the huge complex and eventually made it to the previously mentioned vault, after locking up the Soul Gem, Bucky gave a sigh of relief.
"That thing had so much power, Steve. I could see everyone who has ever died; my dad, Toro, Jack Monroe... I had the power to bring them back, and I also had the power to kill."
"I don't want that kind of power."
"You may have to take it and more if the time comes to fight Thanos," Steve told him as they returned to the Quinjet, "You may be the only one who can defeat..." He was interrupted by a blaring alarm going off in the cockpit.
"What is that?"
"Its a priority one alert from the Helicarrier. We have to get back right now. Feel like teaming up again?"
"Just like the good old days." He said with a smile, as the Quinjet rocketted out of the water and flew toward the SHIELD Helicarrier.

No battles reports this week, but look out next week as he teams up with SHIELD to fight evil, yet again.

Last week, Steve Rogers took Bucky to a top secret location to hide the Infinity Gem that came into the possession of the Avengers. Immediately after returning to their Quinjet, they received a distress call from the airborne headquarters of the international peace organization, SHIELD. We return to Captain America, both new and old, flying at top speed toward the Helicarrier, on the other side of the world.
As Steve landed the jet, Bucky was waiting by the door and jumped out of the craft as soon as it landed, where Agent 13 was waiting for them. “Hey, Sharon; it’s been a while.”
“Yeah, I have heard all about your adventures through time and space,” she replied, but before he could say anything else, the Black Widow approached, as Steve exited the Quinjet.
“Status Report.”
Natasha quickly responded, as the four of them started running for the main deck, “A.I.M. has attacked the Helicarrier from multiple vectors, employing several different classes of troops, including their Red Hulk Marines and multiple super humans. There have also been reports that MODOK, himself, is aboard, leading the assault. Dugan and Jones are leading a team to engage them on the main deck.”
“Any idea why they are here,” Director Rogers asked, “It doesn’t make much sense for A.I.M. to be making an attack like this for no reason.”
“No idea, Steve,” Sharon Carter told him, “They just showed up and started shooting.”
As the four experienced soldiers stepped out onto the main platform of the SHIELD Helicarrier, Bucky finally spoke, clicking the safety off his pistol, “It doesn’t matter, ‘cause we’re gonna stop them.”
It was at that exact moment that the purple and yellow-clad Frenchman leapt from behind a fighter jet, but the Super Soldier’s skills had not grown rusty from his “cushy desk job” and avoided the would be paralyzing blow. He responded in kind, throwing him off balance, so the current Captain America could throw his shield in Batroc’s face, knocking him cold. Sharon ran to Dum Dum Dugan’s aid, as he tried to fight off two A.I.Marine Hulks. Steve tried to do the same, but he was cut off by the sonic powered villain, Klaw intervened.
Meanwhile, the Black Widow and two of SHIELD’s finest started laying down a barrage of bullet fire on the Scientist Supreme, before MODOK blasted her with a mental blast. Falcon, carrying Daisy Johnson, Nick Fury’s protégé, flew onto the scene. “Looks like you all could use some help,” he said as he dropped Quake in the midst of the enemy and dove to help Steve. Gabe Jones did the same, and the trio was able to defeat Klaw, but not before the hulks defeated Carter and Dugan. Steve Rogers, now furious, and Falcon began to fight off the red menaces, but the four superstrong fists overwhelmed them and Steve fell to their gamma induced might.
The weakened Black Widow was still able to disable MODOK’s protective forcefields, allowing Quake to bring down the house on him, his A.I.M. agents, and the Scientist Supreme. With some expert shooting, the Black Widow was able to take down both agents, as Quake continued to wound the leaders of Advanced Ideas Mechanics, and eventually defeated the Scientist Supreme. Bucky joined in and with a few good shots and powerful throw of his adamantium-vibranium shield, the giant head fell. Falcon and the SHIELD agents hurt one of the hulks enough for Falcon do knock out, but that still left another to wreck havoc. The entire group swarmed in on him, and the monster finally yielded to the might of the red, white, and blue.
After making sure that Natasha was okay, Bucky and Falcon went to check on Steve as the medic arrived on the scene and took care of Dum Dum and Sharon. “You all right, Steve?” Sam asked, as he tried to awaken his good friend.
Finally, coming out of unconsciousness, Steve replied, “I’ve been hit harder than that before… MODOK?”
“Down.”
“Good. Why don’t you two take Batroc down to a containment cell, while I get some more people up here to constrain MODOK to contain the others?”
“Got it.”
Each of them grabbed one of the Frenchman’s arms and started dragging him toward the lower decks. He soon regained consciousness. “I see that we were not victorious.”
“That’s right, and don’t try anything. You wouldn’t get very far.” But right as he spoke those words, the lights went black and the deck pitched forward, loosening their grip on Batroc.
“Looks like Batroc will make his escape after all, Capitan. Good luck,” he said leaping around a corner. Bucky let off a few shots, but it was too late.
“I’ll get you, Frenchman.”
“Come on, let’s find out what’s going on,” Falcon said pulling him back towards the top deck. They arrived to find the Helicarrier without power and quickly descending towards the Pacific Ocean, below.
Steve saw them and game them a quick briefing, “When we tried to remove from his hoverchair, we set off some sort of safety measure and it activated an EMP. We have less than a minute before we crash.” That next minute flashed by incredibly quickly as everyone worked their way towards more secure positions, and then they crashed down on a small, volcanic island, where they were greeted by a malicious group of mutants.
The Juggernaut and Sabretooth charged into the midst of the SHIELD team, wounding Natasha and several agents in the process. With the help of Sharon, Dugan, and Jones, Steve Rogers was able to lead a successful attack on the two of them, and the two brutes eventually fell, but not before the Black Widow was knocked out and Daisy Johnson took a strong blow from Sabretooth. Meanwhile, Bucky and Falcon engaged Mystique and Pyro in combat and quickly defeated them. Daisy snuck her way toward Magneto, hoping to defeat him, as she had done before, but she was stopped.
“Do not think me a fool, child. I learn from my mistakes,” and saying that, Magneto blasted her with a massive magnetic force. However, he was not safe from annihilation, as the group quickly surrounded and defeated him. Again the mighty leader of a group of villains fell to the might of Captain America’s shield.
“Something doesn’t add up. I doubt that Magneto or MODOK would plan an attack like this.”
“Agreed,” Steve said, “There must be other forces at work, but who?”
He was shortly answered by voice with a thick German accent, a voice he had hoped to never hear again. “They were but pawns, destined to fail, now you will face true power!”
“Zemo!” the man that he hated most of all, the man that killed him and allowed the Soviets to take him, “You’re dead. How can you be here?!”
“I could say the same of you, Sidekick, but I am glad that you are not, because you are the reason that I am here,” Zemo told him, “We had hoped that you would still have the Soul Gem with you, but we shall get the information that we need regardless. Now go, my Masters of Evil. KILL ZEM ALL! But leave those two alive;” pointing at Steve and Bucky, “one of them will break, eventually.”
Baron Zemo, his son, and Moonstone all worked together to take Quake out the game fast, and then focused on Steve Rogers, while the Eel made his way up along the shore of Krakoa and attacked the Black Widow from behind, but she quickly turned the tables and kicked his scrawny, serpent’s butt. Steve shot Moonstone, and forced her to retreat. This let Steve Rogers, Captain America, and Falcon work their way towards the dreaded Baron Zemo. They fought past Piledriver, Mr. Hyde, and the younger Baron before finally, reaching their target. While they did this, the remaining SHIELD agents fired on the retreating Moonstone, and eventually, stopped her. Finally, the three close friends fought the Nazi, and Steve finally felled him.
The Baron and all of the dead supervillians disappeared, with the Soul Gem’s effects wearing off, and the others were taken into custody. Steve reassured Bucky that it was not his fault that this had happened and that it could not have been avoided, but he felt otherwise. Deep inside, James Barnes knew that he could not be trusted with the power of the Infinity Gems and that someone else would have to take the responsibility. But who?

A distress call goes off in the Avengers Tower, and Tony Stark quickly checks it out, with Spider-Man and Captain America following closely behind. "Looks like there is some trouble on the Washington Bridge... let me see if I can get a visual... there!"
"Superman! How many times are we going to have to fight him?"
"Sounds like this is going to need all of us," Spider-Man says, but Stark quickly responds.
"No, Peter, I need your help with a science project," he then turned to Bucky, "that only leaves you, Thor, and Rulk to take care of this. I could call in the others, but it will take a while for them to make it all the way here from Wakanda."
"That's all right," calling for the Red Hulk and the son of Odin, "Come on, we have work to do."

The trio makes there way to the bridge and find Superman and several others, fighting with him: one is dressed like Superman, but wears sunglasses and emits some sort of engergy blasts from his hands; a purple Green Lantern, named Abin Sur; and several mutants. Thor calls down lightning from the sky, but Superman barely escapes his wrath. He did hit Destiny, however, defeating her in one strike.
Rulk and Bucky make their way across the bridge to aid their Asgardian ally. Hulk leaps right up to Superman and hits him with a powerful blow, but he is only temporarily daized and hits back. Red Hulk takes the hit well, but he is then swarmed by the Eradicator and Abin Sur. Thor tries to intervene, but could not stop Superman from felling the red giant.
Thor and Cap avenge their fallen comrade; with a swing of the mighty Mjolnir and a thrust of Cap's patriotic shield, Superman finally yields to their attacks.
This angers the Eradicator, who then attacks Thor with a powerful blast of energy. Thor and Bucky fight of the horde of attackers, causing Cortez and Abin Sur to be defeated, but the Eradicator was too much and the two Avengers were also defeated.

By the time that the three of them recovered, Superman had advanced his attack against New York City. They quickly followed the path of destruction and found him and Batman destroying the city. Both sides leapt into an incredible battle, each side dealing massive amounts of damage, but Superman prevailed yet again. Once the three Avengers were defeated, Lex Luthor and the Joker emerged from the shadows. Luthor grabs Bucky in a threating manner, "Maybe now you will think twice before invading our world again."
"Well since you asked so nicely, we'll be sure..." Luthor stopped him mid-sentence, back handing him and knocking him unconscious.
"Can I shoot them, now?" Joker asked.
"No, we need to get back to our dimension. My mind control devices won't hold them much longer and I don't want to be anywhere near them, when Superman and Batman wake up."
"Why so serious, man?" the Joker responded, as they disappeared in a flash of light, leaving the three Avengers in their burning city. But like a phoenix, they will rise again and stop evil where ever possible, and avenge those who cannot protect themselves.

A rather unfortunate loss for Bucky and the Avengers, but be prepared to be amazed next week as Bucky finally catches up with Batroc the Leaper and bumps into the Merc with a Mouth just in time to have to face the Champion for control of the Power Gem.

Having had staked out Batroc's hiding place the last several day, Bucky was ready to move in and take him into custody. Unfortunately, he was too focused at observing Batroc through a pair of thermal binoculars that he did not hear the approach of someone behind him.
"Pssssssst. Whacha doing?"
But his response was swift. He swung his shield around, hitting the would be attacker in the skull. Cap quickly unholsters his side arm, but stops when he realizes who it is.
"Deadpool! What are you doing here?" Bucky asked, annoyed.
"Well, Contingency Plan has been neglecting me, so I broke out of the my box and Megatreky was the only one who... wait a minute. I thought that Chris Evans was taller.
"What are you talking about?!"
Picking up the thermal goggles and holding them up to his face, backwards, "Who is that? Batroc the Lamer? Can I help?"
"Go away, Deadpool. I've got this taken care of."
"Fine, I'll just call him and see if he wants to come out."
Sighing, "All right. Just try not to kill him, okay?"
Saluting, "Aye, Aye, Captain! Horrible maiming and wounding of pride only, sir!"

Captain America and his loudmouthed partner burst into Batroc's hideaway and catch him by surprise, but before they could engage in combat the three of them were swept away to a distant world, where they come face to face with the Champion of the Universe.
"James Buchanan Barnes, you have impressed the In-Betweener and earned the Soul Gem, but now I must determine your worth. While I am skeptical of your choice in allies..."
"Love ya' too, buddy."
"They're not exactly friends."
"Sacre' Bleu! Where are we?"
"Shut up, Frenchy!"
"You're one to talk. Aren't you Canadian?"
"SILENCE! I would battle you myself, but you would have no chance, so I must find another way to test your skills. Both your strength and your wit will be tested against these masters of manipulation. May you prove yourselves mighty warriors."

The Champion disappears, so Bucky is getting prepared for a fight. Deadpool is excited by the prospect of one, but Batroc is still utterly confused.
"I demand to know what is going on, mon Capitan!"
"Here's the deal. You shut up and help us, and I will make sure that Deadpool doesn't shoot you."
Batroc quickly agrees, just in time for Maxwell Lord, mind controlling Wolverine and Archangel to do his bidding.
Batroc, always willing to enjoy a good fight, leaps forward kicking Archangel in the face, while Deadpool makes a bee line for Wolverine, guns-a-blazing. "Hey, Logan, you ready for a Weapon X style beat down?"
Archangel shoves off Batroc and throws a paralyzing knife at him, taking him out of the fight, while Wolverine charges at Deadpool. Deadpool ducks under what would be a decapitating blow, and swings back with a perfectly executed katana strike. A horribly wounded Wolverine backs up, giving himself a chance to heal, but he never got that chance, before Captain America's red, white, and blue shield rebounds off a wall and hits him, knocking him out cold.
Bucky catches the shield and the two of them advance on the wounded Archangel, preparing for a finishing blow. However, Lord was not ready to give up and began invading their minds.
"Oooh! Pretty lights."
Not anticipating an attack from his temporary teammate, Bucky is not prepared for the coming attack. Deadpool turns on him and unloads a full clip at the Captain. Most of the bullets are deflected by his shield, but several hit his torso. His bulletproof outfit saves his life, but he is stunned enough to go down for the time being.
Deadpool recovered from his mind control and yelled, "You just made me shoot Captain America! You just made me shoot the frickin' flag of the United States!... I am very patriotic! Regardless of my Canadian handicap! I'm gonna' kill you! I'm gonna' kill you in the face!"
Deadpool pulls out a pair of SMGs and takes down Archangel with a short succession of shots. He then tosses aside the guns, and pulls out his twin katanna swords and runs straight for Maxwell Lord. He did not last long.

Batroc and Cap recovered from their injuries just in time for their next opponent to arrive: Sinestro of the White Lantern Corps.
"Hey, Sinestro! You hate Ryan Renolds; I hate Ryan Renolds. Why don't we team up?"
With a swing of his left hand, Sinestro struck Batroc with construct knocking him into a wall, and taking him down in one hit. "I guess that's a no," Deadpool said as he fired his guns at Sinestro, while Bucky struggles with a construct of the Question. He lands a blow, but Sinestro hits him with a couple more shots, leave Deadpool all by himself. Deadpool first works his way past two of the constructs so that he can hit Sinestro. He hits him hard, weakening him and before Sinestro can recover, Deadpool shot his guns and slashed with his swords and beat him with a rubber chicken until Sinestro fell to his knees and claimed Deadpool the victor.

Regardless of having taken the brunt of the beating, Batroc leapt into the fray once again when twin wizards, named Jason Blood, joined the fight, along with their army of Iron Fists. He kicked one into submission while Bucky and Deadpool fought off the army of martial artists. Deadpool was enjoying himself too much, shouting, "Bangity, Bangity, Bangity... Stabity, Stabity, Stabity," as the two of them defeated two of the oncoming Iron Fists, but before they could defeat the third, Jason Blood used his magic to destroy them.
"Tankity, Tankity, Tankity," his incantation chanted and they were flattened leaving only the master of Savate' to save the day.
Batroc leapt into action finishing off the final Iron Fist, leaving only the second wizard. In a burst of hellfire, the wizard tranformed into the horrible demon, Etrigan and an epic battle ensued. With his final ounce of strength the honorable thief, Batroc the Leaper defeated the monstrous beast with his most powerful footwork.

"You are indeed mighty warriors," the Champion spoke, returning them to their full health. "You have earned this prize, Captain. The Power Gem is yours; may it serve you well. Perhaps we shall fight someday as well."

The three of them were transported back to New York city with the Red Power Gem floating between them. Bucky hesitantly reached for the gem, not wanting a repeat of last time, but he waited a split second too long. Batroc grabbed the gem and knocked both Deadpool and Bucky down. Making his escape, he shouted, "Ha, Ha, mon Capitan. Better luck next time; this prize is mine!"
"Deadpool... do it."
"Gladly," he said as he pulled out his pistol and fired, stopping Batroc in his tracks.
"You shot me! I can't believe you shot me!" Batroc shouted holding his wounded shoulder.
Picking up the Gem, Bucky laughed, "Stop crying, It's just a flesh wound. Deadpool is a better shot than I thought."
"I was aiming for his head."
Bucky just shrugged at Batroc's horrified expression, "Don't worry we'll get you to a hospital and then its off to a SHIELD prison cell for you."
"So does this mean that we can team up again? Come on, Please?"
"I think that can be arranged, but first I got to make a phone call."

Now that Batroc is back in SHIELD custody, and Bucky has another Infinity Gem in the Illuminati vault, he can return to the Avengers to lead them as Captain America again.

"It feels so different," Bucky told Steve as he placed the Power Gem in its case in the Illuminati secret base, "It's hard to let go."
"As we have seen time and time again, Buck," Steve Rogers responded as the two of them began walking back to the Quinjet, "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
"That's what worries me... I don't think that I can handle; I don't think that I deserve this power. Maybe you..."
"Stop right there soldier," Steve interrupted as climbed into the cockpit, "You fought hard and earned these gems and you are the one who deserves to wield this power when the time comes. You... wait; it looks like we are getting an emergency message from Tony." He activated the communications display.
"Cap! We’ve got a problem. It's Maelstrom."

"MUTANT DETECTED. APPREHENTION PROTOCALS INITIATED."
"Give it your best shot, Bub," Wolverine laughed off as he charged at a pair of Sentinels. He dodged the first blast but was struck by the second sentinel's blast, freezing his left arm and shoulder. Furious he continued his attack but was hit again and was frozen solid.
Iron Man flew in and fired a repulsor blast, tearing a hole in its chest. At this moment, Captain America leapt out of the Quinjet and thrust his shield, hitting the Sentinel just right to cut off its head. As it fell to the ground a loud, maniacal laughter rose from a near rooftop.
"This is only a glimpse of the power that I will release," Maelstrom spoke as he appeared on a nearby roof, "You simple humans will stand no chance against what will become."
"How about a Kree warrior?!" Shouted Noh-Varr as he blasted Maelstrom with the full power of his Nega-Bands. When the dust cleared Maelstrom was still them bigger and more powerful than before.
"You will have to try harder than that." he laughed as he hit Noh-Varr with an equally power blast of energy. "No one can stop me. Today, you will all die!"
"Remember me?" Spider-Man said as he landed behind Maelstrom and punched him. He barely stumbled, but when he was Iron Man coming up for an attack, as well as Cap making his way up to the roof, he became worried. Seeing that he was momentarily outmatched, Maelstrom made his escape.
"I will succeed, but not today." Maelstrom begins to make his escape, but before the Avengers could begin to make their pursuit, Maelstrom conjured up a group of opponents to distract them.

An old Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, the Riddler, Roulette, Detective Chimp, and Amadeus Cho came to confront them. Knowing that these must be illusions created by Maelstrom, from Bucky's earlier reports, the team engaged in battle, after Wolverine freed himself from the ice. Wolverine charged and slashed at the Riddler, but he sidestepped and Wolverine hit the chimp instead, but only for minor damage. Before he could make another attack, the Riddler tripped him and the Green Lantern set him ablaze in an emerald flame.
The Protector tried to help his teammate, but he was too late. He did, however hit the Lantern with a powerful blast, hurting him badly, and a second finished him off. Meanwhile, Iron Man blasted both Roulette and Cho with a repulsor blast, followed up by Cap shooting Cho to finish him off. Spider-Man hit Guy back into a building. Spidey then jumped out of the way, as Iron Man fired a Uni-Beam at the Lantern to finish him off.
With only the Riddler and the Chimp remaining, Spider-Man and Bucky swarmed them as Iron Man blasted the Chimp and Roulette into oblivion. A kick from Spidey and a left hook from Cap and Nigma fell defeated.

The fallen foes disappeared and were replaced by even more powerful and horrendous foes. Wolverine was forced to see Jean in Maelstrom's attempt at psychological warfare, however he underestimated the effect that it would have. Wolverine went into a berserker fury as the tore through the Question and Jason Blood, and he had nearly killed Deadshot when Superman flew in and flattened the mutant into the pavement.
"Not this guy again," Bucky muttered as he shot Dr. Light, letting Iron Man finish him off. Spider-Man then knocked Deadshot out cold before it all went south.
Noh-Varr, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America gave it their all, but it was not enough. Eventually, Noh-Varr and Iron Man fell the might of Superman. Leaving only the horribly wounded Cap and Spider-Man to fight.
When all seemed lost, Superman stopped his assault and vanished. Obviously, Maelstrom has made his escape and no longer needed the distraction.

"Well now what?" Spider-Man quipped as the others recovered.
He was answered quickly by the Human Torch flying towards them, "You all need to come with me quick! Reed thinks he knows why Maelstrom was here."

Johnny Storm led the Avengers into Reed Richard's lab, where they were greeted by the Fantastic Four, Steve Rogers, and the Black Widow. "Reed, what's going on?" Iron Man asked.
Before Mr. Fantastic could respond, Steve said, "Let's wait until everyone gets here."
Iron Man knowingly nodded, but the others were still in the dark.
"Waiting for who?" Wolverine asked, with his typical agitated stance.
"The Illuminati," Mr. Fantastic answered.
"The Illumin-what-ti?" Spider-Man jokingly asked to try to clear the tension from the room.
"The Illuminati," Tony Stark spoke as he removed his helmet, "is a group of influential heroes that I organized to make the tough decisions and keep the world safe."
"And when were you going to tell me about this?" an annoyed Susan Richards asked her husband.
"We made a pact."
"Typical."
At this moment, Professor X and Namor, the Submariner, entered, and Dr. Strange teleported into the lab, as well.
"Now that we are all here..." Steve Rogers began, but what interrupted.
"Heroes, I bring my services and the resources of Wakanda to aid the Avengers," the Black Panther speaks as he and his wife, Storm, enter the group. "We have been staying at the Wakandan embassy, and having seen what Maelstrom plans to do, we have come to help you stop him."
"What is he planning?"
Mr. Fantastic finally speaks, "I think that he was trying to find a way to bring Galactus back to life."
There was shock and worry expressed by all as Mr. Fantastic continued.
"Maelstrom broke the encryption on my computers and was trying to find the location of Galactus' world ship, Taa II. Fortunately, I do not have that information for him to find, but I fear that he may be getting close on his own."
"Well somebody tell me that we're gonna' do something about this."
"We sure are, Buck," Steve Rogers told him, "the Illuminati have been working with SHIELD, SWORD, and the Inhumans to build a starship. Using the most advanced technologies on earth and beyond, as well as a little magic, we have something that will let us find Galactus' world ship before Maelstrom does. This is a voluntary mission. Anyone who wishes to stay may leave now."
None of them left, so he continued. Looking to the Black Widow, "Natasha, without the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, the world is going to need someone to protect it. That's why I'm leaving Hill in charge of SHIELD and you in charge of the new Thunderbolts team."
"But..."
"He's right. I can't think of anyone better suited for the job."
She reluctantly agreed, and Steve continued, "Go home and say your farewells; we may be gone for a while. Reconvene here tomorrow morning."

Once everyone else left, Steve and Bucky discussed the coming mission. "World-Eaters, Hulks, and space ships... things sure have changed a lot."
"That they have, but it’s still a world worth protecting."
"Think we'll make it?"
"Who's the serious one now? Yes, we'll get the job done and come home... we always do."

Bucky heads for the stars in anticipation of the Galactic Guardians.

"So, who else are we waiting on?"
"The Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, as well as T'Challa and his wife, and Namor said that he was going to swim here," Steve Rogers told his oldest friend, "I think that's them now." As the two of them look up to see the approaching Quinjet, as a giant, green, hulk-like monster flew out of the ocean, striking the aircraft, causing it to crash onto a nearby island.
The two Super Soldiers quickly jumped into a boat and sped to the rescue of their friends. They found the SHIELD pilot dead, but the others miraculously survived, regardless of multiple injuries.
"Web-head and I are fine," rumbled the Thing, "Let's go find the guy who did this."
"Speak for yourself. I have a headache the size of Doc Ock's ego... but I can still fight; I think."
"I am also relatively uninjured," spoke the Black Panther.
"Good. Steve, get everyone else to the infirmary on the ship; the four of us will go take care of whatever that thing was."
"I thought I called the shots."
"It was a suggestion. We're the same rank now. Remember?"
Steve began loading the injured heroes onto the boat, while Bucky and his team of Avengers made their way into the jungle. Bucky spotted the green goliath only to realize that it was Namor, and when he saw the A.I.M. agents he realized what had happened. Bucky motioned the Thing and Spider-Man to attack the Hulkmariner, while he and Black Panther would sneak around and take out the A.I.M. Agents.
Spider-Man leapt in front of the Hulkmariner, so that the Thing could hit him hard from behind, but Ben was ambushed by a savage She-Hulk named Lyra. The Thing fought, back but the Hulkmariner hit him from behind, and he dropped. Spider-Man tried to help, but he was oneshotted by the mariner.
Bucky and T'Challa were doing much better. They quickly defeated an A.I.M. agent and Amadeus Cho. After this, the Hulkmariner charged in and pounded the Black Panther into the ground, leaving Bucky to fight off two hulks by himself. Bucky avoided the first attack, causing Namor to hurt himself. Cap then bashed him with a rock and put some distance between them. He unloaded a clip into the dazed monster as he ran and hurled his shield to finish the job as he reloaded.
Captain America caught his shield just in time to deflect a blow from Lyra. He responded with a punch of his own before being struck twice by the she-hulk. He quickly shook it off and bashed her with the full might of his shield combined with his mechanical arm, sending her flying. A succession of shots later and she fell.
Bucky made sure that his teammates were okay, and checked on Namor to find that he had reverted to his normal self, but was still unconscious. With everything else in order he began to interrogate the A.I.M. agent.
"You won't get anything out of me! You'll have to kill me first."
"Oh, really. You see, I used to be a Soviet assassin, and if there is one thing one that they teach us in basic training, it is how to make people talk."
The terrified terrorist told them everything. How they cloned Amadeus Cho and brainwashed Hulk's daughter from the future, so they could Gamma irradiate the Submariner to stop us from taking off. A.I.M. was being payed a massive amount of money by an alien to do the job. Obviously Maelstrom was involved, but how could he know?
Bucky let him go. There wasn't any way off the island and a SHIELD team could pick him up eventually.
They then made their way back to Namor, but before they could check on him again, a huge flash of light appeared overhead and Superman emerged.
This wasn't the Superman that he was used to fighting, though. He was graying and was acting mentally insane. Without a word he attacked them.
Bucky and the Thing both landed a blow to him, but Superman could not be stopped. First Superman, Black Panther, and then the Thing. Again Captain America stood alone, but he didn't stand long.
The next thing Bucky knew, he woke up to see Steve Rogers standing over him. Holding his head as he sat up, "Is he gone?"
"Yes. Dr. Strange was able to teleport him back to wherever he came from. Apparently there was a lot of powerful magic involved in his getting here."
"Maelstrom."
"Probably, but don't worry about it. We'll stop him."
"What about the Submariner and the others?"
"They're fine. Once you are feeling up to it, we need to get back and launch the ship."
"Yeah, let's go."

The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Illuminati, and the Wakandan royals left the planet earth in search of Taa II, the worldship of Galactus. They seek to stop the vile Maelstrom from resurrecting the World Eater and to boldly go where no man has gone before...

Next week Bucky lands in the vast garden of the eternal Gardener in search of the Time Gem...

Had a really good night, but I didn't quite make it. I went 2-1 and lost in the final round to a SN Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet. Afterwards I found out that if Noh-Varr had hit his first attack (which misses by 1), I would have won. Oh, well. On one hand, a saddening defeat; on the other, a great plot twist.

Mr. Fantastic had just finished installing a new sensor array on the Quinship that was designed to detect sources of the Power Cosmic and similar energy signatures. What he discovered was much more powerful and deadly."
The Illuminati, with Bucky Barnes, gathered secretly to discuss their options.
"We'll touch down on the planet's surface," Steve Rogers told them, and then turned to Cap, "Buck, put together a small team and investigate. You have had more experience with the Infinity Gems lately."
"Yes, sir."
"What will we be expecting?" Namor asked.
Mr. Fantastic responded, "It appears to be earth-like; with a great deal of vegetation. There appear to be no artificial structures of any kind, but if there is an Infinity Gem, we can expect someone to be protecting it."
"Reed, I need you to help me open this safe," Iron Man said, as he removed his gauntlet, "It takes two of us to open this safe."
"What are you talking about?" Professor X asked, unable to read Stark with his psy-filters online, as Tony Stark and Reed Richards placed their hand on a fingerprint scanner, opening a hidden safe.
"Why did you bring those?!" Bucky said, shocked at seeing the two Gems that he had already gained.
"We couldn't just leave them unattended on earth. Besides, I thought that they might come in handy."
"Tony's right. It was a good idea to bring them, but I think that we should leave them safe for now," Commander Rogers stated.
"I suppose your right, but I don't want to mess with them more than is absolutely necessary."
"There is something else that we need to discuss," Dr. Strange interjected.
"Agreed," Professor X added, "We cannot keep the others in the dark. Spider-Man hasn't kept his mouth shut about the Soul Gem, and rumors are spreading rapidly."
"I guess that you are right," Iron Man replied reluctantly, "We will have a full debriefing after you all get back."

Captain America, the Protector (Noh-Varr), Spider-Man, and Dr. Strange touched down in a lush garden on an alien world. Bucky immediately to command of the situation.
"All right, everyone stay close. We don't know what we are up against. Just keep your eyes open for anything important; we are looking for a glowing gem."
"I don't suppose that you would like to tell us exactly what's going on?" Spider-Man quipped.
"It will be revealed in due time, Spider-Man," Dr. Strange answered him.
"Wait, are you talking about the Infinity Gems?!" Noh-Varr exclaimed, before being interrupted.
"Everyone quiet. I think I hear something."
An elderly man with a shepherd’s staff approached the four Avengers, declaring, "I am the Gardener, holder of the Time Gem and protector of this garden. Why have you defiled by sanctuary?"
"We are here for the Time Gem, in hopes of stopping Thanos, the avatar of death, from wielding absolute power."
"Ah, you must be the Captain America that the Champion told me about. To be honest, I expected you to be bigger... I give you the right to roam my garden. If you truly believe yourself worthy, you shall find the Time Gem and claim it, but be warned that there will be dangers along the way."

The Avengers searched through the maze of a garden, trying to find the hiding place of the Time Gem. Unfortunately, all of Dr. Strange's attempts to provide a searching incantation failed and they had to search by sight alone. The dangers soon showed itself. Several beings appeared, resembling heroes and villains from earth, but who appeared to be made of plants.
First, Ms. Marvel, Annihilus, and Batman plant-creatures attacked them and were quickly dispatched. So, a new batch of assailants were created.
The Silver Surfer, Nova, and two copies of their own Dr. Strange appeared in plant form. Dr. Strange cast energy bolts, Noh-Varr fired blasts from his Nega-Bands, and Bucky layed down fire from his handgun at the Silver Surfer and Nova, while Spider-Man snuck up on and attack the Dr. Strange duet.
Spidey, quickly dispatched one Strange and wounded another, but was forced back. This gave Bucky and open shot, who threw his shield and mowed the plant creature into mulch. Meanwhile, the Protector finished off Nova, and the Seven Suns of Cinnibus, Dr. Strange burnt the Silver Surfer to a crisp.

After defeating the second horde, they rounded a corner and discovered the gem on a pedestal, but before they could claim the gem, Thanos crashed down in front of them and attacked.
While Cap and Noh-Varr were dealing with Thanos and his partially formed Infinity Gauntlet, Spider-Man was still fighting off plant creatures. "Hey, guys, I know that you are dealing with a supremely powerful, homicidal, alien overlord there, but any help would be nice."
Dr. Strange cast a temporary power-up spell on him, "By the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, I grant you the power of the human Juggernaut!" before turning his attention again, to Thanos.
"Cool, now where's the She-Hulk, Punk?!" (Disney's 'child-appropriate' censoring)
Spider-Man quickly defeated the plant-monsters of Jean Grey and an A.I.M. agent. He then turned around to a horrific sight. Cap had also defeated a Jason Blood doppelganger, but Thanos was still going strong. He had demolished the Sorcerer Supreme before working his way to the other two. Spider-Man leapt to the aid of his wounded comrades, but quickly joined their ranks. The three of them kept fighting, and Thanos continued to take damage, but it was not enough. First the Protector, then Spider-Man fell at the hands of the mad titan, until only Bucky remained.
The Sentinel of Liberty never surrendered and Thanos finally stopped the conflict.
"You are not the Captain America that stood up to me once before, but you share his spirit... Very well, I shall make my point clear. We both seek the Infinity Gems. I wish to reclaim my original set, and cannot take that the Eternals created for a new champion, for you. I cannot kill you either, without disrupting the entire fabric of the universe. But I can give you this warning: No human has ever possessed the Infinity Gauntlet, you cannot possibly begin to comprehend it. While it is very possible that you may achieve a complete set of gems, you will still lose. It is much more likely that you will destroy yourself and most of reality with it."
"We'll just have to see about that, then."
"I can see that there is no reasoning with you. I cannot stop you from claiming your prize. We shall meet again, James Barnes, and that will be the day that you die."
With that, Thanos vanished to continue his own quest for the Infinity Gems. After making sure that his teammates were okay, Bucky took the Time Gem and they returned to the ship.

Fun write-ups, Megatreky! Glad to see you're having much better results than I have been with Daredevil as of late. I've been on a losing streak thanks to folks pounding me on HCO. :(

"Let's move out, Noh. Dr. Richards says that something is transmitting a cosmic energy signature on this moon, and we need to find it."
The two Avengers made their way down into a valley only to discover a Cosmic Cube. Horrible memories of his days as the Winter Soldier, and Bucky was unsure how to respond to this discover. He began to call Steve for instructions, but was interrupted by the sudden appearance of a powerful foe.
"Ah, the Avengers. How unfortunate that my dear brother is not with you, I would love to see the look on his face as I use the Cosmic Cube to bring Galactus back to life and have him destroy Midgard," Loki, Asgardian god of mischief, laughed as he spoke. He summoned forth a vast array of adversaries from the heroes past to distract them.
"Steve, we need backup! Big backup."
"On their way."
Dr. Strange teleported in, with the Red Hulk in tow, and the four Avengers quickly made way for the Cube. Somehow, Bucky made it to the cube first.
"NO!" Loki screamed as he saw this display, but he quickly was forced to defend himself, as Cap used the cube to turn the others against Loki.
Not wanting to be overcome by the power, he exerted as little as possible, leaving some to attack him and the Avengers. They were able to protect themselves, though.
Rulk took on the two Silver Surfers, one with a nifty scarf, and Cosmo, the Russian wonder dog. Afterwards, he made way towards the Lord Mar-Vell and smashed him too. Meanwhile, Bucky quickly defeated a Phalanx Soldier, as he aided the Protector and Dr. Strange in defeating the Stranger.
Loki had to fight off Thanos during this battle and was extremely weakened from it, regardless of his victory. However, he had enough strength to cease the advances of two Avengers; leaving only Captain America and the Hulk.
The Red Hulk bashed Loki into submission, to where he was almost helpless. "You have won for now, mortal. Use the Cube to destroy Galactus and send me to my daughter's realm. Death is rarely eternal. You would know that."
"I do, and that is why I will never stoop to your level." and to Loki's astonishment, Bucky crushed the cube and tossed the broken remnants aside. He then hurled his shield with all his might and felled the runt giant, leaving him on the desolate moon.

"I really would have advised against doing that," Dr. Strange told him as the returned to the ship, "The Cosmic Cube could have been useful."
"Believe me; you want nothing to do with it. It does nothing but cause pain and suffering. I never want to hold so much power in my hand again."
"What will you do when it is time to face Thanos?"
"Pray."

Finally back in the game with Bucky. Unfortunately, I did not bring home a Runner. Thanos always seems to come out on top, which does not bode well for the story. Either Thanos and the Avengers need to team up (Yeah right) or I need to start using the Hulk (beware).
All in all, a fun night. Bucky defeated a Loki chase; Cosmic Cube in one hand and the Infinity Guantlet in the other (Overkill). Also, Red Hulk crit hit the USS Voyager and sent it flying out into deep space. I guess that answers my questions about what would happen in a Marvel/Star Trek crossover.
With finals coming up, I have a lot of papers to write, so it may be few days before I get the details up.

"We received an anonymous transmission about one of the Infinity Gems, but whoever it is won't tell us anything until we meet in person. So, Bucky, once we dock at this space station, you and I will..."
"With all due respect, sir," Agent Coulson interrupted, "I don't think that is a good idea."
"I'm sorry, I thought that I called the shots around here," Steve Rogers quipped back.
"It could very easily be a trap, and we can't afford to let you be killed."
"The man's got a point, Steve. We can take care of it."

Captain America and Agent Coulson walked into a bar, and the punch line is that Deadpool was there waiting for them.
"Sure took you long enough."
"Who is this guy?"
"Deadpool, what are you doing here."
"I used my magic wishing ring to get here so I could tell you about some competition, with the prize being the Space Gem."
"How did you find out about this?"
"It's the first Tuesday of the month. Duh!"
"Look it doesn't matter how I found out, but I did. So promise to take me along, and I will show you where to go."
"I don't like this," Coulson told Cap.
"He's not as stupid as he looks."
"More actually."
"If he knows where a gem is, we have to bring him."
"Come on Coulson, I have the latest season of Supernanny for us to watch on the way."

"What is he doing here?!" Wolverine asked, annoyed, as Cap, Coulson, and Deadpool entered the Quinship.
"Hey, Logan, buddy!... Please don't cut off my head again."
"He is going to lead us to one of the Infinity Gems. Tony, Hulk, Hawkeye will be coming with us once we land. Deadpool, point the way."

Captain America, Red Hulk, Deadpool, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Agent Coulson stepped out onto the intergalactic racetrack. There were so many spectators in the stands and nearby ships parked that it put the Daytona 500 to shame.
"Attention racers!" the Runner shouted to get everyone's attention, "Today is the ultimate race. The winner goes home with the Space Gem, and the losers go home with their spirit and likely bones broken."
"This is a race! Where is Quicksilver when you need him," Tony Stark mumbled.
"Why didn't you mention this before?" Bucky asked Deadpool, who only shrugged.
"Remember, this is a fair race. With only your skill, speed, and agility... Oh, who am I kidding?! Anything goes. I'll be waiting for you at the finish line... the race starts NOW!"
And with gunshot, they were off! The first group in their way was the Nova Corps, who were using a star ship for cover.
Point towards the ship, Bucky shouted, "Hulk, smash!"
"With pleasure," Rulk smiled as he leapt towards the ship and sent it hurtling into deep space.
Deadpool tripped one of them up and Cap took the advantage to take him down. Iron Man finished them with an EMP, allowing the Avengers to get ahead.

Next in the way was none other than Loki.
"How did he get the cosmic cube?! I destroyed it and sent him back to Asgard!"
"Note to self, bring Thor along more often."
To distract them from their advance, Loki used to cube to force other racers to hold Bucky and the Avengers back. Red Hulk swatted aside Green Arrow, but was utterly blasted by Dr. Doom. Iron Man blasted Loki with his Uni-Beam, as Hawkeye and Coulson shot down a few of the weaker racers. Loki was temporarily, allowing Bucky/Cap and Deadpool to charge in and finish him off.

With Loki out of the way, and the cosmic cube crushed once again, nothing stood in their way. They flew, ran, and leapt towards the finish line and the Space gem, when Thanos crashed down in front of them.
"I told you to stop this pointless quest, and to simply succumb to my rule. I see that you have ignored by offer of life." Thanos blasted the whole lot of them into near unconsciousness. "Know this, Captain. For the sake of order in the universe, it is impossible to kill you now, but if you miraculously collect all the gems without destroying the cosmos, and choose to face me, you shall know pain and death like you could never have imagined."
"The Space gem is yours if you will continue, but I strongly suggest staying down."

With that Thanos left for parts unknown. His power is immense and Bucky wonders if he should start using the gems to his advantage, but he fears that he will lose control again. He forces himself up and takes the Space Gem.
"Come on, let's go home."

A great battle has been won this day! When thugit's Lampost Batman ko'd a Bucky/Cap, I swore vengeance. He told me to "bring it", and today it has been brought! Batman yielded to the shield, and the universe is in balance once again. I don't even care that I had to fight a Loki chase for the 3rd week in a row.

"You might want to look at this, Buck," Steve told Bucky as he called him up to the bridge "We've picked up this transmission a few minutes ago.
Looking on the screen, Bucky saw the face of a villain who has been a constant deterrent in his quest to stop Maelstrom.
Loki taunted him, "Captain, I hope that you are seeing this. After my recent defeat I have reconstructed the Cosmic Cube. In fact, I want you to come here, and try to take it from me again. In order to make sure you come; I have your woman.... Come and get her."
"Don't do it James, it’s..."
"Silence wench!" Loki shouted as he slapped Natasha Romanoff and ended the message.
"Where is he?"
"We have tracked him down to the fifth moon of a gas giant in a nearby system," Reed Richards told him, "We can be there in an hour."
"Do it," Steve Rogers told him.
"I shall fight by your side, friend," Thor told Bucky, "the vile deeds of my brother must be stopped."
"Thanks, Thor, but the only way that we are getting out of this is for a small team to get in and get out quickly. No offense, but stealth is not one of your skills."

"Do you have a shot?"
"I got it. One for each of Tasha's shackles and one aimed at Loki's eye socket."
"I kinda wish that you had invited Thor," Spider-Man added, nervously.
"Take the shot."
Hawkeye expertly shot the three arrows. With Loki's senses enhanced by the Cube, he easily deflected the arrow meant for him, but wasn't expecting the Black Widow to attack so quickly. He was momentarily stunned, allowing the Avengers to attack. The made a few good attacks, but Loki's power, combined with that of the Cosmic Cube, were too much for them. First Black Panther and the Widow fell.
Loki then teleported up to Hawkeye's sniper position. He fought back and evaded Loki's first energy blast, but was struck by wide pulse of energy and landed on the ground, below. Cap and Spidey made their way up to Loki, but were quickly defeated as well.
"Fool. Did you not question why I brought you here?" Loki mocked Bucky, "This place connects to the Nexus of Reality and with the Cube I shall send you to another dimension. Farewell, Captain."

When the Avengers awoke, they were no longer on the moon. Bucky just smiled and pulled out a transmitter that would allow Mr. Fantastic to lock onto them and transport them back to the ship, but right as he was about to active the device, it was shot out of his hand.
"Don't know what that is, but I can't take that risk," Deadshot told them. He and the Riddler were ready to fight, so the Avengers gave them what they wanted. Hawkeye shot Deadshot and Cap thrust his shield at the Riddler. The arrow pinned Deadshot's arm against the wall, allowing the Riddler to deflect the shield with his question mark cane, to hit and knock out Deadshot instead. However, a couple more arrows from Hawkeye, and Nigma was also defeated.
"Can you fix that?" Bucky asked Spider-Man.
"I think so."
"Then do it!"
They were expecting more escaped inmates to attack, but were not prepared for what came next. Batman leapt from the shadows, knocking Black Panther to the ground. He then went after the Black Widow, who dodged his attack. Cap bounced his shield off the wall and hit Batman, who wasn't prepared for the unique properties of Vibranium, not found on his world. This allowed the Black Widow to hit Batman with a Tae Bo kick, and left hook from Bucky defeated him.
"Got it!" Spider-Man yelped with joy.
"Great timing web-head," Hawkeye jested.
"Then take us home."

The Avengers went 3/0; played against 2 Avenger teams and a Guardians of the Galaxy team. Avengers always make the write ups hard. Best moment of the night had to be when Thing took Adam Warlock down his entire dial after he kept telling me to bring it (it was even better, when I note that Thing rolled doubles every attack before that). To be honest, I am tempted to make a new thread for the Thing.

“Wake friend, Nova,” Thor spoke as he attempted to rouse his fellow Avenger, “Point us in the direction of those who attacked you, so we may smite them.”
The Avengers had found Richard Rider, Nova, unconscious in the center of a crater. “Come on, Thor. Let’s get him back on the ship.”

Nova shortly woke up in the Quinship’s infirmary, where he explained everything that happened to him. His former allies in the Guardians of the Galaxy had turned on him, and used him as bait to trap the Avengers. After they landed a force field covered the entire planet making it impossible to leave without access to the GoG’s ship.
“Bucky, put together a team and shut down that field,” Steve Rogers told him, then pulled him aside, and opened his fist to reveal the Time Gem, “and take this.”
“What? Steve, no, it’s a bad idea. Remember what happened last time?”
“That’s an order, soldier. These people are dangerous, and you need to learn to use them, whether you like it or not.”

Nova led Captain America, Thor, and Rulk of the Avengers, and the Thing and Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four to the Guardians of the Galaxy’s location. However, there were a few surprises prepared for them. Another team of Avengers was prepared to attack them.
Using the Time Gem, Bucky was able to accelerate the temporal field around Thor, resulting in him to make his way towards the other Avengers much faster than would normally be possible. “There can only be one Thor!” he cried as he swung Mjolnir at one of the other Thors, but was blocked by his mighty hammer. The Thing joined Thor and swung his rocky fist into their second Thor. Rulk then leapt into his counterpart, smashing him into the ground. Thor and Thing continued to trade blows with the opposing Thors, while Red Hulk showed his doppelganger and the Hulk who truly is the strongest ever. Nova and Cap quickly took down Black Widow and then joined Rulk in his battle. Thing tackled their Red Hulk, so that Rulk could focus on the original Hulk. Finally, Thor felled one of his copies, and the team assembled to demolish the other.
Another wave of Avengers attacked, as Thor and the Thing fought off another Hulk and Nova, and Red Hulk sent Black Panther flying into a stone wall. This distracted him long enough for another Hulk to pound him from behind. Thing sent the other Nova flying, and before he could recover, his helmet was sent flying by Captain America’s shield. Captain Marvel, Hulk, Black Panther, Iron Fist, and Firestar all ganged up on Rulk until Bucky finally used the full strength of the Time gem and sent them forward a week in time.
Only the Guardians of the Galaxy remained.

The Keeper flew forward at a tremendous rate and blasted Nova, who gladly returned in kind. The Thing punched him hard enough to send him flying back to his teammates, but Nova, the Human Rocket, propelled himself forward and defeated him. However, Nova was instantly knocked out by Adam Warlock and Drax. The Invisible Woman used her forcefields to push Thing up to protect his fallen comrade; first, by launching Drax into the air and then Clobberin’ Warlock to a pulp. Hulk, Thor, and Bucky/Cap attacked Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Red Hulk first smashed the Raccoon, then Drax, before moving onto Groot.
Eventually, Warlock gained control of his own mind, again, and stopped the fighting.
“Avengers… Guardians… stop this violence, at once. Let me explain.” Warlock released his fellow GoG members of outside control and turned to speak to Bucky. “Captain, let me explain. One of our own, named Hollywood, though you would know him as Wonder Man, has betrayed us. He strongly believes that the Avengers pose a threat to earth, and that you need to be stopped. I do not know how he was able to manipulate our minds, nor how he was able to bring the other Avengers to fight you. We will release your ship from this planet and will likewise leave in search of he who betrayed us. May we meet again, fellow protector of the universe.”

Bucky used the gem to return the other Avengers to their proper time and dimension before returning to the ship and continuing on his journey to stop Maelstrom and Galactus. Except now with a new Avenger on the team.
