:confused:So looking carefully as to what it says under this heading, and I quote..."everything that's important on HC Realms" it is my hope that this thread will remain in a place where maybe it can get a little more attention than my previous attempts at recognitiona nd celebration of both US and any other countries Armed Forces services!

So I am wondering and pose the question...is this important to any at the Realms?

If it is why?

Respectfully,
Viet Nam vet, the Daddyman...aka Chris

You put it into the News area, which is only reserved for the HCRealms Team Members/Contributors to post in.

As for your question, I do think that Veteran's Day is important, and I'll take the responsibility for it not getting posted on the home page (like many other holidays). In fact, I'm a DoD Contractor (www.dvidshub.net; check it out, we do cool stuff), and we have been preparing for Veterans Day for a while now for my day job ... I just failed to bring that level of exposure to HCRealms.com because I have been fighting a stomach bug for the past few days (and just lost track of the day).

At any rate; it's not really about what's "important"; it's about putting your threads in the correct forum. You can blame just about every other member who decided "I'm putting it in General Discussion because I want it seen" ... vs. putting it where it belonged based on the content of the thread.

Thank you for your service.

Very sorry, didn't see any directions as to who could post there. Still slowly learning my way around all the realms. Anyhow my apologies, hope your feeling better, just went through worst flu of my life this past week also.

Anyhow I am off the soap box, done venting and off of Veterans Day. Once again, thank you for the Realms...it is great.

At my venue we celebrated Veteran's Day by playing 800 points, Golden Age, Veteran pieces only.
You are a great guy, Daddyman. It is my pleasure to have met you and thank you for risking your life for us.

There may be another Veteran's Thread more appropriate than this, but I have a pretty cool Vet's Day story from yesterday.

I was flying back from TDY in Korea yesterday (I "enjoyed" 37 hours of life on November 11, 2011 due to coming from east to west through the International Dateline) and had a 6 hour layover in Atlanta. Spent a couple of those at the Atlanta USO.

Atlanta's USO had something like 30+ volunteers, from greeters at the terminal and outside the USO entrance, and inside they had a spread of food that was great. There were evidently a couple local celebrities serving us, and a chef preparing some of the food. It was great. Add to that about 100 troops in and out while I was there, many going back to Afghanistan from leave, and it was a very appreciated effort.

If you've ever wanted to support the troops, its a great charity to help.
