That is a good goal to give yourself, and it's certainly achievable. I think it took me 4 months of playing before I tried running a game (and it was horrible). My second game was loved by all and made it into the hall of fame as an inside joke (see Thunderbolts Mafia; Mal loves that game!).

Then I was gone for 3 years.

The trick is, get a good grasp of the game and then set out with your own. Get a seasoned moderator to help you with the game to get started. And to help complete your win goal, start hitting up a lot of games (but not too many at once) because sometimes you will hit dry spells where you are always mafia, always town, or always neutral. I'm excited for you and will definitely play your first game (if I'm not helping you with it, of course).

I've enjoyed running games where people have gotten to pick their characters. Trying to adapt a source to a mafia game has been a fun task. Especially with all the bizarre picks people send in.

Depending on the theme, I could give you a hand.

Stranger's Marvel/DC game was fun because of being able to choose one character from either universe to mash together. Nothing better than mixing Professor X with The Flash. Ok maybe Bzzd and Multiple Man rocks harder, but barely.

You should read the Star Trek mafia I ran years back. The borg could recruit and Crickets was Data's cat, Spot. There was concern of a borg cat running about.

I'm trying to figure out my Mafia schedule. I've been in talks with three players now about co-modding games, but nothing has been set in stone. I'm kicking around the idea of Mini-Mafias. Color Mafia has surprisingly been a lot of fun.

I don't know how many people would be against a stark trek mafia that takes place in the new movie verse, but you can play as any character from any incarnation, their back story might be a little different (or they might be lost in time)

I was thinking something along the lines of the fleet regrouped at Starfleet headquarters to be given their assignments in the new war. Then they realize that they've been infiltrated by some threat. Starfleet campus is the setting and the baddies are taking out the members of the key crews in the Federation. I'd be glad to run it at some point, but it's a shame I never get to play in the themes I like the most. I only get to run them. *shrug* It's still fun to run games, but occasionally I would love to play a theme I'm really passionate about. It just seems my interests differ from others in that respect though.

Whatever floats your boat, man. Two mods can have a drastically different take on the same theme so don't hesitate to rereun a used theme. Especially if it was run years ago.

Statham is a more recent action star, and he fits the bill just fine. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale both seem to be able to do so as well.

I think the problem is a lot of the more recent action stars are rather flat, instead of popping off the screen as larger than life figures. (Gerard Butler, Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, Sam Worthington all immediately come to mind)

There's a reason people love Arnold or Bruce, or Stallone, their action movies, whether good or bad, are always at least big feeling.

If you go back far enough, this doesn't feel that weird at all. It's like all the westerns made with a ton of famous 60s actors. People love seeing familiar faces in familiar roles.

I'm bored and feeling ambitious, so I am finishing the role layout of Megaman X2 and Donkey Kong Country 2. I am also getting the character list for MotU 2 (but that will also need Stan's approval).

I'm contemplating if I want to start next year with a series of NES, PS1, or just video games in general for Mafia themes. Thoughts?

hugo? no idea what that is, the wife wants to go see breaking dawn over the weekend. On another note bus driver passed FIVE bustops before finally stopping. I tried to tell him I had requsted a stop after he missed the first two but he did not seem to speak english (or spanish, which is more common here) he had a thick eastern european accent. Did not meen to rant, i am just anoyed.

I caught Breakig Dawn with my wife... I enjoyed it. Not a sparkle in sight, plus a pretty gruesome birth scene.

Hugo was phenomenal, and everyone who loves film must see it.

A few years back. I was Leonardo, the mafia don. I was brainwashed into the serial killer, killed most of the town, then my mafia recruited me back on the final night phase so we could win!

COMPLETELY broken but so much fun!

I can put one on my list of games to run in the future, but right now, I'm trying to get people to sign up for my "Best of" game.

wallmart, they had bins fulls of seasons of tv that were $10 each, i got there late and got the final copies of supernatural, it was that or bones, and ive already seen most of bones

Hmm, my Walmart didn't have those when I went. I Should have checked online...curses!

If you don't want it I'll gladly reimburse you plus shipping ;). I went to Walmart at 5am on Friday to get one and avoid the raging crowds and was out of luck. Spent the next day hitting several Gamestops in the city and struck out yet again. I missed getting by one 15 mins...at least the female associate was cute so the eye candy made it worth it. :grin:

Looked on ebay today and there are several bundles selling for close to 300...pft to those people.

Can you guys name some memorable rings that were in cartoons/comics? I'm not just thinking about all the green lantern rings here. I'm thinking stuff that's more diverse like Captain Planet rings and such. I'm also looking for memorable equipment other than weapons and shields. Stuff like Wonder Woman's Bracers or Michael Knight's wris####ch.

It's made by a company called Soda Pop Miniatures. They usually produce miniatures inspired by Manga/Anime. This is their first game and it includes 52 minis in chibbi style.
The rules make it sound more like an old Nintendo RPG than your usual dungeon crawl game. One player takes the role of the Consul, who controls the villains, while the other player(s) control the heroes, who go around slaying their foes and collecting items, but their ultimate goal is to destroy the spawning points where new monsters can enter the game. Once they have destroyed all the spawning points or inflicted enough wounds the boss monster is summoned.

The biggest draw to this game are (at least IMO) the miniatures, because they are simply adorable.

Rainbow's color belt could generate rainbows that could do... well, she could make walkways with them, color objects, brighten the world... It was like a Green Lantern ring in rainbow form, but it couldn't make shapes.
