I've got over a case pre ordered and I'm only getting 8 this week. Count yourself lucky!

We've had to deal with this the last couple of times with Diamond. Makes it really difficult to stock and sell the product when the only people that would buy it have to wait weeks for us to get them in. In the meantime they are buying from the other chain video game stores in town. Unfortunately we don't order enough to go through a direct reseller and are kind of stuck with being shafted by Diamond.

Rest assured that large accounts were probably fufilled completely.

uh, i don't know if this sounds far fetched. But does, not buying from Diamond seem like a good idea? If you get bad service or no service, i always take my business elsewhere. There are always alternatives. Sometimes the alternative is just not to buy. Sends a real clear picture when someone doesn't get any business. Its the American way. By buying and settling for ####py service, expect to get more of it in the future. If you demand excellence and will not put up with ####, either they will shape up or go out of business. Unfortunately, there are businesses that will put up with ####.
Of course be careful where you lay blame. Have you checked all resources and found out where the shortshipment occured? Its like yelling at the window washer that the food was ####py in the restraunt that he is cleaning. Ok nuff said

If you're a single person or a small shop, NEVER do any trading card or gaming business through Diamond. It's like shooting yourself in the foot. Diamond's name is good for many things but helping the small shops get the big items isn't one of them.

My local shop was suppose to get a case from Diamond last Wednesday and of course no case. Diamond said maybe Friday/Saturday and then said no - next week. Now they are being told that they will receive 7 boosters on Wednesday. Is that a joke? (obviously not !) We're suppose to have another sealed booster tournament on Thursday - Methinks not!

Don't get me started on Diamond. We're getting less than 15% of our order. They won't fill initial orders, but we were able to reorder a case for immediate shipping.

As we like to say, "Diamond: The F stands for quality."

Ordered 2 cases (96 boosters) ... Didn't get any the 1st week, this week ... 12 packs !?!?

Anyone know a better distributor in Canada ??

Try Blackhawk Hobby Distributors, Inc. 1-800-747-GAME
- Very satisfied. :classic:
(P.S. - I am in no way affiliated with this company except as a customer. I like them because they are an independant wholesaler not a big Walmartesque organization who has made self publication of comics so expensive that it's almost impossible.)

Diamond is pretty poor with a lot of their product distribution, especially for non-comics material. They were lucky enough to come out of the big market crash in the mid-90s holding exclusive contracts with most major publishers and this is the only thing keeping them around. Most shops I know would try another alternative for comics/supplies if there was one but due to a monopoly on the market there is no choice.

So does anyone know how Alliances can fill their orders? Aren't they owned by Diamond at this point as well? Seems odd that those accounts would not be affected if "Diamond" is shorted on orders.

Is it really Diamond? or is it Wizkids not filling orders. Diamond can only do so much if Wizkids is not shipping them enough... Just a devils advocate point of view. I'm no fan of monopolys and would love to see more companies shipping besides Diamond... But how can it be the fault of the distributor if they are not getting the supplies to ship???

I think this pretty much sums up the issue to be on Diamond's side. Why would a company partial fill initial orders but offer whole cases for immediate shipping?

A shame Capital City went out of business.

ahh I see, mustve missed the full case vs partial case part.... interesting... wonder whats up with that... sounds like lazyness.. or lack of staff... not enough people to break apart cases and ship all over? Easier to just ship full cases... bad Diamond... bad diamond...

Um, perhaps Diamond runs like the Edgeman and is subject to sanctions by wizkids?

Read my posts here, regarding the info I got at Toyfair 2003 in feb.

link (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34276)

WK said they are cutting off distributors that sell to the public, or distributors that sell to wholesalers that in turn sell in bulk to the public. Diamond *could* be one of those.

I have had similar problems with the Edgeman recently, not so horrible, but they have been OOS on a lot of wizkids products recently. We order R/C planes from Horizon Hobby, and so I just started ordereing Clix from them. They shipped our 2 cases of Xplosion Tuesday, had them here in NJ by Friday.

I preordered with gatheringground.com and got my full case in today. 4/2/03. Not bad since i live all the way out here in Hawaii. I haven't opened it yet. Waiting for my son to get off from school so we can open it together. It has the original Wizkids sealed tape on all the box edges so i know it hasn't been tampered with. Not bad since it only cost me 208 dollars and that's with shipping included. Breaking it down thats about, 5.78 a pack. Stores around here sell a pack for 6.95. No store has priced it under that. I have found that one store, Collectors Maniac sells older boosters (DC) for 5 bucks.
Wish me luck.

PJCC sent an email saying that Wizkids severely shorted everyone and that all preorders were shipping out yesterday. Tracking info says mine arrives tomorrow... 12 boosters was my order btw.

in my area diamond has the monoply on the game and comic stores. this is the second time i have had to wait more then a week for my preordered case(after the week it was supposed to arrive) now it wouldn't be a big deal but my case comes repackaged from the original-wizkids case. Also i am a week behind in x-plosion trading which sucks. I have already started making arrangements for cosmic justice and it will not be through Diamond.

Diamond isn't the only one experiencing this!

I have 7 cases that were purchased from me, that I have yet to receive.

I'm getting nervous, as customers do not like to wait. And I can't blame them. But really there isn't much that we as retailers can do.

But hopefully this means that I will be hearing from my distributors soon also. Not Diamond BTW.

I would relly like to know why there is such a shortage on X-plosion? Is is because of the war, or demand?

I just got off the phone with all 3 of my distributors. Here is an abbreviated account of their responses to me.

Dis #1) Sorry we haven't received our second wave in yet. We were expecting it YESTERDAY. When we didn't get it, we called WK, and they said that we should receive it Fri or Mon!!!!! I'll contact you then.

DIS #2) Yes, we have received it. The best I can do is send you 12 boosters!

DIS #3) I know we still owe you 4 cases, but I have you down for one case and 12 boosters? Do you want me to send that out to you?

LOL! OMG! How frustrating. After I get thse out to my customers, I get two cases for myself. At the rate I'm going, I won't need them......

i ordered my case from the boys in Redmond WA a month ago, got it April 1 which isn't bad for regular delivery from Washington to mid central illinois.

I paid like 209 for the case plus 13 shipping.

it was all good and i didn't hear any excuses.

But then again, i am not sure they qualify as distributors

Diamond is just called today. My hobby shop told them Screw you. So we will be getting it from another Distruborter. It will be in by next week. I get my case then.

The local shops got their first shipment from Diamond today, and it amounted to about one-eighth of their total orders. One shop ordered 40 boosters and got 5. One shop ordered six cases and got 27 boosters.

Two of the three shops that carry Clix also get supplies from other distributors. There's been some purchase limits, but I've been able to put together most of a set (now only need one rookie, one experienced, one vet and six uniques and I've only bought 25 boosters).

Not from what I've seen. My local shop is a HUGE account for Diamond and gets just as shafted by allocations.
When DC came out they sent him 1 booster.

Which is why he also orders clix from Alliance, the Game Distributor owned by Diamond. More accurately, he orders all his games from Alliance, and places an additional order for clix through Diamond as restock, knowing it will show up later.
While he got allocated by Alliance, it wasn't as bad as with Diamond.

I am pretty sure your purchases through Diamond count towards your discount with Alliance...

It's not just Diamond it's all distributers. My comic shops order from diamond and another game distributer. So for games they don't order from Diamond because they are more expensive. They only got half their order. Same with all the card shops that ordered Xplosion.

It appears to me that Wizkids could not keep up with demand and all distributers were allocated. As a result all shops selling Xplosion were allocated also.

The only porblem I have with Diamond is their prices and they are usually late for many items. *I guess those are 2 pretty big problems :lol )

My shop orders comix and figures from Diamond.

Game stuff he orders from Southern Hobby, and while we did get somewhat shorted on XP, we are pretty much on track.

well i ordered my stuff from ####### - paid about 4.50 a box for a case and a half, but i preordered feb 10th and wont get my 1/2 case until late next week if im lucky - thats preordered a month and a half early - they emailed me after i called them asking wtf and they said that wizkids severely undercut the second wave of shipments and the only had enough clix to cover 8 days of preorders. so i was 2 days short of making the cut - ARGH
