View Full Version : Heroclix/MageKnight battle?
Has anyone tried a game with both Heroclix and Mage Knight characters? I'm a Marvel Heroclix person myself, but one of my friends is big into MK.
Anyone care to let me know what your experience has been trying to use the two together?
Thanks!
heck, we mic MW MK and HC have HUGE battles. lots of fun.
we mix that is. stupid non working edit button.

A few compromises would have to be made regarding rules. Will their be a map or no map? MK figs have a limited area they can attack (only in the direction they are facing can most MK figs attack), will you keep that or make it more like HC, where everything in base contact is fair game? Will you allow capturing?
I personally think MK is already at a major tachical disadvantage because they have no taxis, no phasing and no leap/climb. Heroclix would most likely win.

My group played with the HC guys fighting MK freaks in a dungeon map. We've found that, eventually, the mage spawn overpower the HC guys. Its fun though.
It's been my experience (in many crossover MageKnight/HeroClix/MechWarrior battles that MageKnight figures are more powerful than their Heroclix counterparts. For MechWarrior, we subtract 3 from their defenses (MechWarrior uses 3 dice to hit instead of 2), but they seem to be a bit less powerful than Heroclix (probally because the mechs are mostly "large point" figures", which often suffer in games against lots of low point characters).
Anywhoo, they're all pretty close, and any small differences are made up by the fun we have =). We also use HeroClix rules for most things (no facing, maps etc). This also puts Mech Warrior at a disadvantage, because their minimum ranges become a HUGE detriment.
Enjoy!
Thanks everyone! I had never seen a Mage Knight dial, so I wasn't sure if the two were compatible.
Sounds like I'll have to go over to the WizKids web site and so some resaerch to see what I may come up against.

I do it all the time. We do ignore the arcs. And we've been known to play on a green mat, MK style. It looks pretty cool. It's weird seeing Wolverine fighting a big ole dragon.

I've done it once or twice against my little brother. He played one of the MageKnight Dragons (venomous shadow) and some other figures. I played a 600 point avengers team. the dragon died pretty easily (After being outwitted).
one thing to keep in mind is that MageKnight ranges and movents are in inches, and Heroclix Range and Movement are in 1.5 inches. MK figs have huge ranges and movements on the HC grid. And their charge(?) rules are different, so it's pretty easy for some of those MK figs to cross the board in one turn.

My buddy keeps on talking about getting the Hill Giant, but doesn't have it yet. So far, I'm safe...
