I don't expect anyone to have an answer to this, but it's been on my mind and I wanted to invite discussion...

When I first got my Infinity Challenge Clix, it kinda surprised me to see the X-Men in their costumes from the Lee/Portacio/Cartoon era. By that point, those looks were at least two and sometimes three iterations out of date.

Then came Nightcrawler, in his costume from the Warren Ellis Excalibur period -- the same time frame. It was an odd choice again, but I happen to think it's the coolest costume he ever wore so I wasn't complaining.

So now there's XPlosion. And again, you've got Shadowcat and Colossus in their Excalibur costumes. Beast has the pointy hair.

Which fits in with the others, except...

Then there's Storm. Who they sculpted in her modern X-Treme X-Men costume.

Not sure we'll know why this is, but it certainly struck me as odd.

I was less worried about the new Storm costume as I was about the half-pants on Colossus! :)

Seriously, I have no clue on the choices for costumes. maybe they are trying to make a specific Excalibur team, thus those three. I chalk Storm up to the same randomness that got us an Ultimate Green Goblin instead of a regular old Green Goblin.

I would have preferred a different Nightcrawler, Shadowcat and Colossus. I like the old school 80s costumes. I'm probably going to try to convert a rookie Shadowcat into her old Sprite costume complete with rollerskates! In fact, I'll be making new costumes for a number of X-folks. So far only Nightcrawler has been pricey enough to keep me from getting a dupe to fix his costume.

It's an interesting observation RavenProject. Makes you think maybe Marvel and Wizkids got together and decided on a 'Snap-Shot' Era to base their Heroclix line on....

On the point of Storm's costume, maybe they just decided it was the best one to use, or maybe, the sculptor only had one reffrence piccy of her, in modern costume, could be something as simple as that...?

I think the only exception to the 'Snap-Shot' idea is the DK Batman and the Ultimate Spidey and Green Goblin....

Just a thought, but is Colossus the first 'dead' Heroclix?

Psylocke is dead as well.

I'm glad they gave Gambit his classic costume. That was always my favorite.

colossus and psylocke dead? oh you mean in the comic world? i dunno. pyro would also be dead then, rogue and gambit no longer have any powers,
