The New Nightcrawler...

Let me give you somebackground info b4 i start about what im really here about. I just bought my Nightcrawler for $75(cdn) thats about $50 for you american folks eh? anyways i just had my first game with him and i used an all X men team (600 pts), and let me tell you this bad mofo just tore up the board. First turn vet thing and exp she hulk hit him with heavy objects, i super sensed both(my friend was MAD) then came my turn...i ran 14 squares past his whole team and smoked his medic for 3 (gambit perplexed) and let him deal with the remainder of my team. My point is this, he had to devote 2-300 points of his team to even tie up my nightcrawler and even then he never died....he ended up killing alot of figs and racked up 15+ dmg that i counted. WHAT KIND OF A FIGURE CAN DO THIS?? nightcrawler can.

Anyways on to my reason for writing this, I hear alot of people asking "Who will be the next Nightcrawler??" and no one will trade new uniques because of the fear that they may be trading the "next Nightcrawler". I just want to clairify things a bit for people who are thinking this.

First of all there is NO next nightcrawler because there will only be one nightcrawler. Im saying this in terms of point cost to usefulness ratio and well how popular the character is. It is like this in all collectable games, for example Magic the Gathering, the Black Lotus card. Alot of people were wondering what will be the next Lotus...and as time proved there was no Next Lotus! and with overpower "who will be the next Spiderman?" there was no next spiderman. What im trying to say is that Nightcrawler is what he is, but no other unique will match him in his value. At least not from Xplosion.

Savage Hulk-hes a beast yes.....201 points...nuff said, if he gets outwitted thats ALOT of points to be using for beef.
Deathbird-OVERRATED! like 2-3 clicks and she blows the big one, my apoclypse took her out.
sauron-ill admit hes real good but not as good. charge with b/c/f and an 11 attack is really good and then the mind control is just gravy. but still not a nightcrawler.
electra-wow shes overpowered. have to say my pick for hottest click in the set (DOUBLE MIND CONTROL ANYONE) ive devestated a whole team with her in one turn.and on top of it all super senses with perplex her whole dial, a little pricy for alot of players but the fact that she can single handedly take down a whole team makes her great. Still though id have to say not as powerful as a nightcrawler.

So all in all Nightcrawler will be a legend among clix so if u have one..good if u dont, go get one and well if u cant get one, there is life without nightcrawler...just not as blue or fuzzy

I have one, but only use him in an all X-man team. My brother in law used him in a mixed 'whatever works' marvel team that SMOKED. He is hard to beat, but I won 1 out of the 4 games. He is very cool; and not broken, just effective. Firelard is borken. nightcrawler, or Kurt as I like to call him, one wagner to another, is just cool.

Any outwitter takes him out. Sorry to burst your bubble. One rookie black panther, one unique elektra and one rookie vulture and they're about the same point value.

Not saying he's not any good, but put in the same light as hulk is not a fair assessment. After all, if elektra rolls 6, she almost ko's nightcrawler (or if she rolls doubles or a critical hit she will more than likely ko nightcrawler). If she rolls 6 on savage hulk, he's now into invulnerability (as opposed to his starting off toughness clicks).

He's still a very, very good figure. :)

I can tell you exactly who will be the 'next Nightcrawler' - it will be a 'playable' Unique Silver Surfer - if he is ever made - which I thought I read here would probably never happen.

Nightcrawler is so expensive because he is extremely popular and is a unique. Other Uniques who are popular have REV versions or are very expensive. If Spiderman was only a unique - or Wolverine - you would have seen these guys go through the roof in 'value'.

If WK's make Norrin for around 110 pts and gives him a useful array of powers, I'll bet he'd be just as in demand.

Of course I realize the die-hard SS fans will demand him be more expensive to really capture 'Galactus's most powerful Herald' - but Firelord came in at 97 and some people STILL get upset about facing him. What could capture a Herald of Galactus better than that?

Other possibilities for Uniques that would be in demand? Maybe Punisher, Ghost Rider, or Sub-Mariner. Imagine how many players would want these if their only chance of getting the character was as a Unique.

Any others that might fit this bill?

I think i there are any figures in Xplosion that are the "new nightcrawler" in terms of playability, the prize goes to one of a few non-uniques. Doc Sampson, and Mandarin can both rule a board by themselves, and are worth every bit of their point value. If you are looking for a figure that can just be played to death, along the caliber of Nightcrawler, look no further than those two.

As for rarity, (read: desirablitity), Savage Hulk is going to be the "nightcrawler" in that respect.

I don't know about Savage Hulk being rare, I pulled 3 out of my last couple packs, and I've bought less than 10.

Taskmaster will definitely be played to death. Stealth, Willpower, Mastermind, BCF, it's all there for a maximum of 75 points. Minions of Doom ability makes him one of the most usable wildcards in the game. But, yeah, Nightcrawler still remains one of the best characters in the game.

Outwit can take out any clix, not just Kurt. But the Outwitter has to get within 10 spaces to use it on Kurt. Not easy to do if the opponent is smart enough to STAY AWAY from your Outwitter.

Anyway, all of these are good examples of good clix, but none of them have the combination of rarity, popularity(from the comics), and playability.

There is no new NC in XP. There just isn't. Does that mean the characters in it suck. No. Its just that there are no super-popular, rare figures that everyone seams to want.

Yeah. He's certainly the most popular character that's only been released in Unique form.

In terms of point cost usefullness... Occasionally I have a problem when my opponent rolls super-senses two or three times in a row. But hit him once for three and he's only doing one damage... And darn hard to heal with his 16 defense. It might just be that I've never seen him played effectively, but 75% of the time he's an easy takedown.

Nightcrawler? Who is this Nightcrawler that claims to be the "greatest clix?"

DOOM is the only clix that should be used and used by all.

All teams should have DOOM's Veteran Doctor Doom on them. Point cost and restrictions are irrelevant and pointless.

in response to Psylockeslover, well yeah thats pretty much what i was trying to say i just added in a story...lol not to mention i used him again today in a 4 way FFA and for somereason no one hit him...anyways..and Dr VON DOOM your right doom kicks some serious asz, he is actually my favourite clix but he gets poond when his mastermind gets outwitted, so i switched to exp taskmaster for most games, stealth and mastermind is a deadly combo. and for the guy who said his rook panther and elektra and vulture would whup NC, your wrong for 2 reasons, first of all im not an idiot and wouldnt let you outwit NC's abilities or youd have to push to do so..and then panther is useless then elektra would take 2, she needs a 9 to hit NC at that point good luck to you with that. ok my rants done.

nightcrawler was the fig to have in ct because
1) his sculpt was THE best in ct
2) he was THE most fun in ct

he is by far not a powerhouse.

i'd say the fig to have for xp is apoc or savage hulk

Well ive been thinking about this for awhile and NC's ranking as far as uniques go ( IC, CT, & XP ) and by far Nightcralwer is #1 and he is #1 for this simple reason alone: He is the ONLY figure with Hypersonic speed. Where there is only one of something that truly makes it a unique...that bill fits NC perfectly.

When I play nightcrawler, My entire goal is to take out thier taxis. After this, my nightcrawler will, well...he will be very effective ;)

Is nightcrawler a one man army? no. Nobody ever tries to claim that, but is he probably one of the most useful offensive pieces in marvel? sure. Get him a doombot, some perplex maybe, some other minor backup (barrier is pretty handy on that kind of team). Move damage over to doombot, heal doombot, perplex kurt's damage up, it can get ugly.
