Anyone know where I could download some software for generating ELO rankings? I'd prefer freeware but anything not too expensive would do.

And yes, I know Heroclix is not supposed to be ranked cos its a fun game but some of my players are asking so I said I'd have a look!

Cheers
Steve

No, but I can get you a similar formula that Decipher uses for their SWCCG, YJCCG, and JKCCG. You can just put it into a spreadsheet and let the cells calculate it for you. I'll post it when I get to work (that's where my only copy is).

When I saw the thread name, I thought you were reffering to "Electic Light Orchestra". My dad listens to thems.

I saw them play at some UK festival just before they broke up. They all seemed a bit tired of it all and were just playing on autopilot.

Of course, when I go home from work I now just have to go up to the attic and retreive the vinyl...

Ok, here's the formula...

Everyone starts with a base rating of 1500 points.

If you win...
Points gained = 16 + (ratings difference / 25)

If you lose...
Points lost = 16 - (ratings difference / 25)

For example:
Player A has a rating of 1800, Player B has a rating of 1500.
Ratings difference from A to B is -300. Ratings difference from B to A is +300. So...

Player A wins...
16 + (-300 / 25) = 4 points gained by Player A
16 - (300 / 25) = 4 points lost by Player B

Player A loses...
16 - (-300 / 25) = 28 points lost by Player A
16 + (300 / 25) = 28 points gained by Player B

One additional thing...

When computing the ratings after the tournament, you use the beginning ratings for everyone in the tourney (instead of recomputing after each round). So in the example above, Player A will have a rating of 1800 for every game that day and Player B will have a rating of 1500 for every game that day.

That's what I thought. I was beginning to wonder when Steely Dan would be popping up on this thread.
