The second game is the rain coming and all the robot giraffes and hippos and squirrels and such going "Oh, no!"

I think the disconnect for me was that it was super important to kill Trypticon nowzers, so that people could leave.

Which makes little sense to me, since that just depleted the Autobot army while they stick around to build a boat.

ThorKnigh83
12/12/2011, 15:58
Tebow is crazy awesome. I just don't know what to think. He defines all conventional football wisdom. he just wins. Its like i saw someone say before Tebow ends with W. In the end it may not look pretty but it works period.

kontrol
12/12/2011, 16:05
Can we wait a couple seasons before saying Tebow's a winner? There's always that first two year anomaly with running type QBs. Vick had it. Mcnair had it, Culpepper had it, McNabb had it , Newton shares it right now. Inevitably, these guys get hit a lot and become much more pocket based QBs, that's when we'll see what Tebow has to offer long term.

DarqFeonix
12/12/2011, 16:12
Oh, he's not a winner, IMHO. He's an aberration that cannot be understood. He is quite possibly the worst quarterback I've seen in the NFL in years. He was... what... 3/15 before the 4th quarter yesterday?

But jeez... I swear he's a mutant with Longshot abilities.

ThorKnigh83
12/12/2011, 16:24
ok he is a winner all he has done at any level of football is win. He is the all time winningest QB in NCAA history. Since taking over the Broncos he has done nothing but win. Forget that he is not really QB and is better suited to be a FB. But when he plays teams win and that has been the case since he was a kid. So say what ya want but until he proves otherwise he is a Winner.
I think he looks terrible as a QB but he is at least making some progress. If he could stand in the pocket and deliver the football like a Brady or Manning he would be completely unstopable.

ThorKnigh83
12/12/2011, 16:27
and there is no way to explain him. His delivery is the slowest ive ever seen i think and his reads are high schoolish but he doesn't turn the ball over and so they manage the clock well. He also keeps the Defense off the field because they don't score in 2 seconds. they have to drive down the field. Oddly enough his accuracy has been pretty decent and like he said yesterday his Receivers make him look better as a passer than he really is. At least he admits he isn't a great QB and is working on getting better.

Sweet tapdancing Jeebus - my work hard drive BSODed on me over the weekend and I've spent all day running Ubuntu off a thumb drive (as someone whose first IBM desktop had a whopping 8 megabyte hard drive, the ability to run an OS with full network capability off a $5 Flash drive kind of blows me away). I've had somewhat limited experience with Ubuntu in the past, but dang, am I sold now. The IT guy burned it onto a disk for me (I hesitate to be overly reliant on USB technology - I've even got a PS/2 mouse and keyboard in a closet at home in case I'm in a situation where USB drivers have gone kaput). I'll be partitioning for dual boot as soon as the kid's in bed tonight.

I haven't crushed on an OS this hard since DOSShell.

Both Elfen Lied and Gun X Sword are on Netflix, yes.

I warn that Elfen Lied can get very very tragic, gory (Oh who the hell am I kidding, you watched Claymore), and they are completely comfortable with nudity. But the nudity is there for a purpose, and it isn't to excite. Dehumanization and humanization are a very important part of the show.

Looks pretty entertaining.

That being said, ME GRIMLOCK STRONGEST! My favorite Transformer ever finally being in one of their games (that is a game, right?) has me really excited.

It's got Bruce Willis as the original GI Joe - you know, the one with the kung-fu grip. That, by itself, is enough to potentially tip the movie from "terrible" to "so terrible, it's awesome" for me.

Ahh. Very disappointing indeed.

It's a product of the movie-game transition. They always seem to pay some backwater dev group to slap something together in 5 seconds, with the intention that the game releases on the same day the movie does.

Which is a recipe for failure.

EDIT: Which is why WFC is a success. It doesn't try to match up with any movies or TV episodes of anything.

Continuing my trend of epic fail tonight, I just managed to spill pepsi all over my computer desk, floor, keyboard, cell phone, AND house phone all at once. It even ended up in a groove on the edge of the desk that it shouldn't have been physically possible for it to get in from the direction in which it was spilled...

My problem was that I was reaching for a bag of cookies and somehow caught my hand on the glass of pop I had just poured.

Maybe it was a sign from above that I shouldn't have been eating those cookies. If so, I totally ignored it.

Had a lot of fun with some late night Magic.

Won a 3 headed giant game by throwing out a ton of Chancellor blockers, and TAK netting us the win with a Megrim, Underworld Dreams, Jace's Archivist combo.

Then my white token deck was gaining about 25 life a turn with Elspeth, and I gained around 8 alone from a Shattered Angel just sitting on the board until I board wiped with a Phyrexian Rebirth to have a 40/40 lifelink, double strike, vigilant token, and proceeded to end the game from there.

Good times.

Still waiting on a couple of answers for Mini Marvels to open back up. I'll try to open it when I get up hopefully.

Im also quite disappointed with the guy they got for Hawkeye. though most of the other casting choices really do fit. I mean RDJ was born to play Tony Stark and Chris Hemsworth is quite a good Thor. Im still not sure how I feel about Chris Evans as Cap even after watching the movie but all in all a good cast. At least we won't likely see Mark Rufallo all that long in the movie.

Do you suddenly have a loss of gravity, therefore friction, therefore momentum, when you run in your dreams?

Because that happens to me every damn time. I suddenly am floating in mid-air, and I'm getting eaten by something.

I sometimes don't run, and punch the thing, and then my hand gets bitten off. Then I wake up, and my hand is numb.

Really freaky and annoying.

I got into this mess by spending money like a 15 year old girl would (Specifically, not budgeting my food worth a damn), handling my credit card like a 15 year old girl would, and saving money like a 15 year old girl would.

And then having some car trouble, causing me to pay some expensive repairs.

On the one hand, I want to pick up my car and chuck it in the lake, and blame it for my miserability, but the truth is that I'm being less responsible with my money than I was when I was a child.

I made shrimp-flavored Ramen last night with chunky peanut butter, tobasco sauce, soy sauce, and imitation crab. It was a $1 meal that was better than just about anything I've had in the past month. It's a perfect example of how damn dumb I've been.

Heh, well 1) I didn't have the family time you had for the past few years, and 2) I'm always able to find time to play at work and on the smartphone.

I will say, after a nice run of wins last time I calculated, my win % as a whole has taken a dive of a few points, hovering now just over 20%. Which is cool, that sounds about right. Shockingly, I seem to have seen an uptick in Endgame'd results, with almost 8% of my games ending in a loss on the final phase.

Funny enough, I think my ~300 or so games gives a pretty good estimate for the "ideal" alignment breakdown for a game (if you take into account all assignments are random, which obviously they're not)

Mafia........76.....26.12%
Town........165...56.70%
Neutral......50....17.18%

Which means absolutely nothing to any of you, but it's hilarious for me, especially since my dad sent it to me, and likely doesn't understand anything about it. :classic:

Some of you guys know this already, but for those of you who don't, my wife has recently been offered her dream job and we will be moving on January 1. The whole process started only one month ago, and she wasn't even looking for it. To put it in even more perspective, the job (assistant professor of poetry and creative writing) rarely comes available at any college. The path most people take is they work on writing a book for 10-15 years after getting their masters of fine arts, then they get hired teaching gen ed classes for another decade or so until the poetry prof dies or retires, then they will be up for promotion... along with everyone else in the same pool.

So this rare job just fell into Renee's lap, and I could not be happier and prouder of her. This does mean that I will most likely not be playing (or running) a mafia game until after lent, as we will be moving into temporary housing at the beginning of Jan and moving again at the end; and I will be giving up the realms and Facebook for lent (and trying to read the whole bible during that time).

I will be back, but it will be a while. TBB, if you want to run Dollhouse in my absence feel free. I may run another one later, but I will probably come back with either 4400 or Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock. Have a great rest of the year. I plan on being very busy =]

As long as you don't spam the thread non-stop, I see no reason why you couldn't ask if anyone has a trade for you. I know I've done it on occasion. We do have a Made Members Trade Thread here, though it doesn't get much traffic.

Honestly, I'd suggest hitting up the quarter bin at your local shop to see if you can find any of the old Chaosium RPG sourcebooks. I believe that they're all kinds of out of print, so they go for a fortune on the eBay, but they're the sort of thing that turn up all the time in collections that shops pick up. You don't have to spend a lot of time learning the game mechanics to get the flavor of the stories, and they convey the spirit of the mythos *way* better than any comic or movie treatment I've ever seen.

I was aware IDW had some Call of Cthulhu book, but was unaware how closely it tied into what Lovecraft had set forth.

I'll look them up on the 'bay when I get some time tonight and maybe some reviews.
