View Full Version : Double Maps

Has anyone ever taken the Marvel outdoor map with the city intersection and placed two of those maps together? That would be really good for some 500 to 600 point teams. Also good for some Sentinel madness!

Two maps? No.
Four maps? Oh, heck yeah!!
I've run several multiplayer (ie five or more) games using this format. You are right...Sentinals on this baby is a lot of fun. I suggest putting the park in the middle, or using the white (??) building as they end up matching up perfectly.

that is the coolest idea in the world... I'm going to go by a bigger table right now.

The local venue I play at has tables big enough for two sets of people to play side by side. What other maps could you combines together?

Never did two of the same map, but we've done two maps together before. Even once had THREE maps for an 8-way 1000pt (8000pt, I guess) battle-royal!

Ah, ya beat me to the punch with your 4-maps. 3 maps, how lame now;) Just had to check the spelling on battle-royal:(
(Come to think of it, I think I still did it wrong. I was checking whether or not to put an e on the end, and it only subconsciously registered that I shouldn't have had a dash in there.)

Sweet Monkey Jesus!
How long did that battle take, anyway? I'll bet it wasn't no ten round game, that is for sure :)

Actually, that's the sucky part. It was a tournament, with just one 2&1/2 hour round. Time ran out, of course, long before we could have finished. We knew that would happen going in though. We keep talking about doing one on a sat so we can play to last man standing, but so far it hasn't happened.

I would love to play a 600 Point game with two Mark III Sentinels and 200 points of support staff :)

I have 2 Sentinels also. Only used one so far, and also only used it at 200pts. Is it general consensus that there's really no reason to use them at 300? The other 100 pts can be better spent elsewhere.

Although in a 500 to 600 point game, you can provide adequate support for him that you could use him at 300. I do agree that 300 is a bit much to put on the board. I wish his point values had been reduced to 100, 150 and 200. But I'll deal :)

Iron Angel and I used one indoor (Mall) map and one Outdoor (street corner) for our 2500pt game. After 10 1/2 hours he concieded. If he didn't we could have gone another 2-3 hours.:)

shin-goji,
I almost hurt myself laughing at your Twisted Kaiju Theater.
Great work. I wish I didn't have to get ready for work so I could finish reading it.

Most of my hardcore fans say it takes anywhere from three hours where they get thrown out of a computer lab for laughing so hard, to a few days :) Thanks for the compliments, it's a labor of love.

We have a group that plays REGULARLY at a local comic shop. Every two months or so, someone will bring in homemade maps or buildings (mine!) to try out. Those games will go on for HOURS - and there's always a huge amount of interest in those games, but we NEVER finish in under 4 hours. So we are planning to get together at home for the odd all-nighter. I'm finishing the basement at my house just so we can have a great gaming room. I wanna see WizKids come up with an LE for THAT kind of dedication!!
I remember seeing one map of downtown Manhattan and it was like 8'x6' or st least it was somewhere around that. I'd love to bust out my 900 point team on that!

I've got a pretty sizeable dining room table that my pals and I play on - I've mastered the art of map folding. I'll usually use 5 maps, fold them in a way that only parts of them are showing. My favorite so far had the outdoor DC map, Outdoor DC Premier map, and Outdoor Marvel premier map - there were about 9 different rooftops! We usually play big points, (800 minimum) and have a lot of fun w/ a huge playing surface. I've found that this lessens the "Gang up on the third guy" syndrome that happens in multi-player games...
After the Xplosion Marquee, my venue put two outdoor maps together and had five 500 armies duke it out. There was an Avenger-based team, a pair of sentinals (with support), an F-Lord team, a pretty balanced team, and my "It ain't easy being green" team (Savage Hulk, Green Goblin, vet Mandarin, E paramedic and E Abomination).
Savage Hulk got to knock out the F-Lord (for some reason he though blasting Hulk for five would hurt him). Green Goblin got a cheap shot in on a Sentinal. Suprisingly, one of the most effective characters on the board was an Iron Man.
I myself got knocked out either second or third (sorry Rufus, can't remember which of us died first). Still don't know what team was the last man standing, as I left after about three hours.
