View Full Version : Maps My custom maps
Im thinking about making custom maps and selling them and was wondering what I should use for the floor of the map and if I do them 3-d what I should use for the buildings. I was thinking about foam for the floor of the map but then I thought that It would break about to easily. Please reply and help me. Thanks ;)

The problem with 3-d maps is transporting them to wherever you play and storage. Of course, if you just leave them where you play that's not all that big a concern. I have a 3-d map and almost never take it out except for special occasions.
shin-goji brings up a good point about 3-D maps being bulky and difficult to transport. That's one of the reasons why I designed my 3-D terrain pieces to interlock instead of gluing them... so they can be easily disassembled. (Another reason was a severe lack of storage space at my place) :p At any rate, the 2 gameboards that I've made don't take up much room after the buildings are taken apart and the walls/roofing pieces are stacked in a pile.

How about using lino (plastic carpet) off cuts, with the square patterns, they all you have to do is create a design.
or do a design on computer and use the iron on transfers that you cant print a design on to that way you have a light weight easy to reproduce and transportable map (and scarf in cold weather)
