Ok, fess up. Who watched the Season 2 finale last night. Was that not freakin' intense?

Why do you think the Strike Team had the long faces at the end of the show? Do you think the money was counterfeit or did they suddenly realize the blood money was too much for even theri conccience?

I think B - they realized that they've crossed the line from shaking down dealers to actively planning crimes.

Tru that. Season 3 is gona b as hard to wait for as Return of the King.

My group plays HC on Tuesday nights and we always stop whatever's going on at 9 pm for The Shield. It's the only show I watch besides the Simpsons.
My feeling was they were a little overwhelmed with the amount of dirty money that they had to deal with. Kind of like "okay what do we do now?"

I saw it. I love that show! Definately the best cop drama ever on TV.

I was wondering if may be it wasn't counterfeit money?

But definately there is a possibility that you guys may be right.

There's no turning back now. Asaveda is now in office, he's got Claudette running the barn. Mackie has no one to support him but his own Strike Force, who are under major scrutiny for firing. There is NO predicting this show!

So is Claudette running the farm? Is that what they were hinting at?

Aceveda has not been elected yet, it just said that his numbers went up.

I too was a little confused with the ending. I think they were realizing (like bjmc stated), that they have crossed the line. Each time they keep saying, in not so many words, "only this once."

The firings, the cop beating, the elections, the armenian money train, what else can happen?

Did anyone catch the episode "Day One?" That was a great episode about how Mackey got his team together and how they made the turn to the dark side.

The Day One episode showed that if Aceveda had not been so pushy with the Strike Team, Mackie would not have had to cross the line in order to make an arrest, starting his corruption because of Acevada's agenda.

I assumed that since Aceveda and wifey were celebrating that he did get elected. Claudette is waiting for Aceveda to finish with the election and then she reluctantly takes over to weed out the corruption.

On the TV report, (at the apartment at the end), they said that whoever won the primary (and got the Democratic nomination) would win the City Council election. The celebration scene at the end I thought made it pretty clear that he won.

I too love this show and love it more than clix! ...Such blasphemy. I agree that the Strike team realizes that they crossed a major line. However, what does everyone think about the new 5th member to the Strike Team? The African-American guy. I think that he may be with Internal Affairs, or may be a mole for Claudette. Something about him bothers me, but I can't put my finger on it.

The other thing that didn't make sense was the firing of the female cop Danny (I think that was her name). Why didn't she just transfer to another District or move to a different state? She had Seniority and seemed like a hardworking cop.

Great episode that tied up lots of dangling plot threads, yet left tons open to explore next season. (Speaking of which anyone know when next season comes around?) There were some cliffhangers in here and it's gonna be tough to wait for the resolutions.

-I'm pretty sure the stunned nature of the Strike team was a matter of being shocked that they managed to get all that money without retribution (?) and that there is so much of it. Imagine your comic shop giving away a free case of Clix boosters to someone who wins a tournament, and then imagine looking at all the figures at one time. Now trade out all those figures for stacks of big bills and yeah, very shocking. :)
-I'm pretty sure Aceveda is in and I'm pretty sure that Claudette is the new chief. Things just got a whole lot worse for Vic. When Aceveda fired Dani he made a very important distinction in regards to the knife incident. He said it hadn't been investigated yet. Now that he will be in a new job it's quite possible that any ties he might have had with the Strike Team are irrelevent. He can now commission an investigation into their activities without fear of retribution, as can Claudette.
-Tayvon (sp?) doesn't seem to be a plant or IED to me. After the russian roulette trick I have a tough time beliving he's with internal. He seems like a cool addition to the team though and should work well if they incorporate him more.
-It's interesting to see Shane get his act together as the season goes along. Things went from Shane nearly getting kicked out of the team, but now Vic trusts him to pull off the money train.
-The guys jumping Julian at the end made me sick to my stomache. I doubt that he'll die from this but it's really disturbing to see it and have to wait until next season to see an outcome. After this there is no way he can't speak out against those former officers but is there any kind of evidence that would be able to indict them. Makes me wonder if Dani shooting at the range was meant to be her taking out agression over being fired or if it's forshadowing for what comes next.
-I'm hoping that Vic's marital situation has been resolved for the most part by next season. It's important and it humanizes him, but after a full season it feels time to move this subplot forward in a big way.

Since I am at work and have tons of paperwork to do I am going to just say I agree with drop19.

I know that is the cheapy excuse but I really have tons of work!

I disagree and agree with drop19's explanation for Taivon, though.

There is just something "not right" about him. He fits in TOO GOOD with the Strike Team. That usually means the writer has something sneaky planned.

Oh, well...

Back to work... uugggggghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering if he's going to fit in TOO well - maybe have a homicidal streak or something, and the Strike Team will have to deal with it, but be under too close scrutiny to be able to risk killing him. If he was with IA I suspect the auditor would have known, though that's far from certain.

Shin-goji, you ####er.... Arg!?!?! I should have known better than to read this thread. I hate finding out the ending to things before I see it. I usually watch the replay on Sunday nights because I work from 2:00pm till 12:00am on Tuesdays. Oh well, I guess you guys did not spoil it that much
I now have something to look forward to Sunday on top of Smallville (rockin show) and Black Sash (not to bad!).

By the way Shin-goji, I was just razzing you.

May the Sentinels live to capture again!!

The Shield is the best TV drama ever. The ending was the best of all season. Dani gets fired, and knows it was the strike forces doing, she also rats out the gay-bashing cops who in turn get fired, and then beat the hell out of Julian. Ascevada won the election, and Claudet is now in office. Not to metion the money train going with out a hitch. (Except for all the dead guys.)

The new member of the Strike Force definatly is a "good" cop. I think the russion rouliet thing was just to show Vic that he is chill and wants to know what there doing. He has been in so many close calls with finding out about the money train, no ones stupid enough to not figure out somethings going on.

There is so many good shows on Tuesday that I end up taping alot of them. 24 which is another very good show is on the same time as Smallville which used to be my favorite show untill my friends told me to start watching the Shield.

All in all, I cant wait for next season, which probably wont happen till late fall or winter.

YouCan'tStopMe,

Haha... nice try! I have already seen those movies. I still do that type of stuff to one of my friends. He is a social hermit, and refuses to go to the movies at all. So, I get to ruin his home video expereice by divulging the good plot twists in movies to him. I guess this thread is my Karma coming to bite me in the ###!

Man the Shield is intense. Throughout the first season, I thought Shane was gonna be the person that brought the Strike Team down, he was too loose of a cannon. And as for "crossing the line" with the money train, I think they crossed the line way back in season 1 when Mackey aced the snoop Aceveda put in the Strike Team.

The Shield is the only show, other than the Simpsons, that I actually make a point to watch.

You do know there's a book you can read that'll tell you how it ends right ? :)

I've heard great things about "The Shield" but never watched it because:

A. I'm fair burnt on cop shows. After "Hill Street Blues", I'd had enough. (I _might_ go see the movie version of S.W.A.T., it holds a special place in my child o' the 70's-80's heart)

B. I'm a more than little mad at F/X for cancelling "Son of The Beach" to make room for it on their schedule

Zekeup32....Not bashing you but how can you watch '24'?
I rented the first season from blockbuster and watched it over a weekend. I felt the first 6 episodes were ok, but then the later shows seemed like they didn't plan them at all. Why would the bad guy tell keifer to shoot the chick he's working with if she was working for them. that's not even my main complaint. It felt like they didn't think the show would be picked up so they didn't bother thinking things thru. worse than chris carter mangling the X files at the end. (don't get me started on that). Anyway, I was VERY dissapointed with the first season of 24, how many times could the wife and daughter get in trouble?!? all in one day too. I saw the episode of season 2 where Keifer's freind crashes the plane with the nuke sacrificing his life to save thousands and the daughter goes into the store that the mexican guy breaks into, stabbing the owner and holding her hostage. Man, that kids not gonna live to see age 20. I mean man, how much bad #### could happen to one person? I like my shows just a tad more realistic. Anyway, I'm not bashing you just flabbergast that people like that show. The best part about the episode I saw was when Keifer sullivan was gonna crash the plane himself, and I said "Yaaaayl, there wont be '24' season 3". But then his friend did it for him. Oh yeah and the bad guy getting shot right before he dishes the dirt on the other bad guys..........ARRRGH it's all been done before.
ANyway SHIELD ROCKS.

First of all, I think 24 is great......But my question is for you Smallville fans out there....When is there going to be a new episode out??? I'm starting to get a little concerned as this was the fourth or fifth week of reruns.....What's up with that???

I really didn't think the first season was that great, but this second season so far has been terrific.
Smallville won't have any new episodes for about mid to late May. There is a good side to that because they will have something like 18 new episodes I belive.

Sin6
04/03/2003, 02:01
My two cents: I was thinking maybe they found out the money was counterfeit at the end. Maybe that is why the bad guys ended up shooting one of there own. I was kinda busy when it was on, I will have to see the repeat for that scene again.

Did you say 18 new episodes of smallville starting in May?? Not really possible, is it?

The shield is a second tier filler, it will be back on in January, man, I love that show!

The Shield is my fave show ever, but I have one big unanswered question. I want to know do any of you think that the crazy armenian from season one will ever come back into the show? I thought for sure that he would be part of the money train, but he wasn't. Now I think that he will be the main guy trying to get the armenian's money back and he will go interrogate the guy that Vick and his team saved.

Oh and the ending I think was fairly well explained by that song they were playing "I am Overcome" I think that the strike team was just way overwhelmed with emotion after all they have been through together this season.

Who said it would not be back till January? If they take the same amount of months off from this season till the third that they did between the first and second our glorious shield will return at the begginning of November.

I kept on expecting the crazy guy with the foot fetish from season one to come back and screw with the redhead.

Music has defined The Shield. When the opening song hits it's a defiant battle cry that your tender walls of sanity are about to be shattered. The season finales have had excellent end songs. I'm a big LIVE fan and was thrilled to hear them close the chapter on The Shield season 2.

I'm gonna have to go with the people who say the strike team was just awed by the massive amount of loot lying in front of their eyes. As far as crossing lines, come on, they've crossed so many lines that shouldn't be crossed that they're almost desensitized (I did say almost...).

There are a ton of plot possibilities for the new strike team member. It could be as elaborate as being an IAD agent gaining Vic's confidence so he can ultimately take him down, or the guy can be similar to Vic in that he's willing to bend the rules for the ultimate good, and Vic might read him as a guy who might also wanna get ahead in life, but the guy ends up not "playing ball" when presented with an opportunity.

Claudette's ascent to head of the Barn was alluded to the episode before last. Acevedo won the election. I didn't like the Day One episode because it contradicted small details from the first couple of episodes from season one.
