View Full Version : hypersonic speed and doorway
Can a figure with hypersonic speed move through a doorway with a figure not blocking but immediatly to the left or the right of it. Or does it have to stop adjacent to it.
This character may move through squares adjacent to opposing characters and never needs to break away.
So, no.... a figure with Hypersonic Speed would not have to stop adjacent to the opposing figure who is 'in or around' the doorway.
I was looking at that meaning characters in battle only. Thanks
Are you meaning something like this?:

A = Friendly figure with Hypersonic Speed
1 = Opposing figure on a square next to the doorway
2 = Opposing figure
x = clear terrain
Are you asking if figure A with Hypersonic Speed is stopped when trying to enter the doorway...(for instance to get to figure 2)?
yes that is what I was asking except 1 and 2 are back to back.

Well I would presume that from the above picture as long as 2 is not directly to the right of 1 (covering the hole that is the doorway) then yes because if I recall, characters with hyperspeed are not affected by base to base contact with enemies.
If 2 was stood directly in the doorway then there is no physical way other than through the character, which obviously cant be done (at least not without smacking him one :) )

As per the PAC on Hypersonic Speed :
This character may move through squares adjacent to opposing characters and never needs to break away.

You can move through your own figures, just not through enemy figures. A lot of people at my venue were shocked at this when we found it in the rulebook. Pretty simple to overlook.

A would still be able to get through the doorway in any of these situations....

Does this answer? Or is there something else you are trying to get at....

Since figure 1, 2 and 3 are opposing, figure A with Hypersonic Speed would not be able to get through the doorway unless figure A also was a Flying figure.
This answer?
I like your answer Tsannik better then shin-goji's answer.

How would flying help?
They couldn't soar through a doorway, and hovering characters can't move through opposing figures any more than grounded characters.
This is only because figure A would have Hypersonic Speed AND Flying....
Therefore, he would be able to move through squares adjacent to opposing characters (as per ypersonic Speed) and
may move through opposing characters (as per Hovering).

Flying figures move through other figures much easier than grounded figures. Because the rules tell you that:
From the Rule:A hovering character may move through opposing characters and blocking terrain.

So just so we're clear, a plain ol' hovering fig may move through opposing ones, but still must stop when adjacent. However, if the figure also has Phasing or HSS, they may ignore the enemy completely and keep going.
Or to put it another way: If a grounded figure is adjacent to an enemy and breaks away, he cannot move directly through them, only around them; but if a flyer breaks away he may move straight through them.
Is that right?
Yes, and that is ordinarily the only time a flier would be able to move through an opposing figure.

Heroclix1234,

How can hovering characters (other than those with phasing)move through blocking terrain? Assuming we're talking about an indoor map with a doorway and all...

It's specifically not referring to the indoor maps, though that's not really apparent until later. It's much more a reference to outdoor Barrier squares and the like.From the Rulebook, Terrain
Hovering characters and characters with the Leap/Climb super power cannot move through indoor blocking terrain. However, characters with the Phasing super power can move through blocking terrain indoors.

Figure A (with either Hypersonic Speed, Leap/Climb or Phasing) would still be able to get through the doorway in any of these situations....
Does this answer? Or more?
