Typically, in mafia, once a theme has been done by one mod, it is kind of left alone for a while by everyone else. Kind of like a "it's been done" sort of thing. But Vorlon's Supernatural game had me thinking. If I had done that game, I'd have done it completely different, but that is because my modding style is different. Really, every mod on this site has their own style. Of how to set up roles, do write ups, ratios, etc. Some mods just have a feel to their games.

Well, what if we did something to showcase this. We pick a few different well known mods and have them all run games simultaneously, but the games all have the same theme.

We pick a general theme, and have each mod plan a game around that theme, just to see what each mod does with it.

Now, this could be potentially confusing, having multiple games of the same theme going at the same time, but I think it is still better than one after another as it prevents copying (which could happen if they were run one after another). I just think it'd be a cool experiment to try some time.

Of course, we'd need the mods to do this, and players willing to commit to multiple simultaneous games. But it is just a thought.

I give this idea my stamp of approval. It sounds pretty awesome to see the different mod personalities come out like that.

It could be huge and definitely worthwhile. Of course, each mod would play in the other games as well, I would think.

But what is the main purpose? Just for fun?

What sort of theme did you have in mind?

Well, hopefully. I'd certainly play in the other games.

And does it need a purpose? Just to see what different takes people make with the same theme. There is no right or wrong way to run a game.

Not sure. Something that would get a lot of people wanting to sign up, nut specific enough that the games stay pretty in sync. Part of it would be seeing different takes on characters, which ones end up in the mafia, which characters get which role. If the theme is too open, there might not be much similarities at all. However, if the theme is too closed, the games might be carbon copies, and that isn't what I want either. Somewhere in the middle. Specific, but with wiggle room.

Picking a theme that all the mods are comfortable with would also be important.

I'm game... If I'm one of the mods you're considering.

Maybe something from comics would work? Something with a big roster, like Avengers, X-men or Justice League...
Heck, we have had two very different Marvel Lanterns games, and Peers considered running a third...

i usually try to limit myself to one game at a time, if all are running simultaneously, it might be tough on players to keep track of who and what they were in who's game. lol. but if it's a comics theme - i'd consider trying it. maybe see which themes attrack the most players. seems like the comic ones are popular.

Are you meaning something like this:

Let's say the theme is Infinity Gauntlet...so you might run one as the comic book run, then K-Ness might do his based off the Heroclix set based around it...then someone else might run it based off of the Super Herosquad version?

I like this idea a lot... Perhaps something with a bit tighter cast of character than just comic books, like Buffy.

Hmmm... keep me in the loop on this.

Sounds fun.

I'd be interested for sure.

Buffy could be good. Lots you could do there and extremely popular and hasn't been done in ages (not since Rokk, I believe).

That is the kind of theme I want. Specific, but lots of room for interpretation. (We don't have to settle on that, but it is an idea).

Seems cool in theory. Not sure if it could be pulled off without the players going crazy, but would be fun to try.

Sounds like a great idea to me, man. I'd be up for it, though I wouldn't want to play in too many games at once while modding one if I become one of the chosen mods.

if this happens and Buffy is the theme, please consider me for running one since that is one of the next games I am thinkibng of running
