Although I have to wonder which McQueen he's talking about - Steve (http://www.shockya.com/news/wp-content/uploads/steve_mcqueen_photo.jpg), Alexander (http://www.fashioncollections.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/alexander-mcqueen-skull.jpg), or Lightning (http://www.erinseaboltbond.com/images/mcqueen01.jpg)...

For interviewing people, just try to get a feel for them as a person, and if they'll fit your company's line. Any idiot knows how to lie and answer regular interview questions (that being said, using basic questions is still good to weed out people too dumb to lie). The trick is to figure out who they are, and if they're going to suck. I've generally found the more intelligent a conversation I can have with the interviewee, the better they'll be.
But it also depends on the position. You don't want a bunch of super smart janitors. That's a Good Will Hunting waiting to happen!
It's for analysts in pharma.
Just hire me. Problem solved.
What are your credentials? Any experience with analytical chemistry? ;)
Stan you need to do some homework. There's questions you legally cannot at a job interview. As a general rule, you probably want to steer away from inquires about nationality, age, marriage/kids, illnesses/disabilities, pregnancy or plans to get pregnant, and religion. Some of this stuff may be common sense, but sometimes it doesn't tingle...
Ah crap. Now I'm even more nervous and we don't even have an interview lined up yet.
the rule of thumb is to only ask work related questions, and to ask for examples, dont ask how do you react under pressure, ask, tell me of a time where you were under pressure, and how did you handle it.
I hate those questions. It's depressing to think I'll be taking those cliche routes.
In all seriousness, if you're not being provided with a structured interview outline, you may as well go hog-wild, ask them random questions, and decide who to hire on a whim. The current body of research on the subject indicates that unstructured interviews aren't particularly valid.
I always said that my top question would be "Who is Peter Mayhew?" I might just have to go with that if I'm in a pinch.

Ask them if they play Scrabble or Words with Friends.
If they say yes, ask them if they play the word "Qi."
If they say yes, ask them if they known what "Qi" means.

General interview questions that are a bit more fun and enlightening:
- FIRST QUESTION: What is your favorite type of sandwich? (catch them off-guard, but honestly you just want them to relax. Helps you see who is able just to bluff out an answer and who does not improvise well).
Last three:
- What is a question that you wanted me to ask?
- What is a question that you did not want me to ask?
- Is there anything about this job that you wanted to know?
Leave enough time for them to ask you 4 - 5 questions. How well they ask questions, and what types of questions gives you a lot of information.

On another note, my wire bought "Come on Eileen" (song) for the ipod as a surprise, and it came up on the playlist while we were preparing dinner. My friends and I have played that song at all our homecomings/dances, and now weddings, and we dance the jazz-box to it (just a simple jazz-box for you dance enthusiasts).
Its a four-step dance that goes R foot forward, Left foot cross over in front of the right to the left, right foot back behind the left foot, left foot back to the left of the right (a simple box). A lot of jazz dances are a variation on that format.
Well, "Come on Eileen" has a vary tempo speed, so it has a slow increase in tempo throughout the song, and then towards the end reverts to a very slow tempo that moves up to a high speed. A lot of people just jump in to the dance and then end up falling down towards the end.
Anyhow, my wife and I danced a little jazz-box to the song when it came on in our kitchen. It was fantastic.

Ok so after going into this interview thinking I was observing only to find my boss planned on leaving me there as a trial by fire, I train wrecked the process. Then I went to lunch, laughed it off and then got a call informing me that my grandmother passed away some time during the night. My uncle found her because my dad (who lives with her) has been in the hospital since Monday night and wasn't there to check on her this morning. I'm at a loss for words. She was in relatively good health at 84. It's been a rough few weeks. My wife's grandfather passed away two weeks ago today. On the up side, Katya's wound is healing well. I mean I guess I have to focus on the positive, right? I'm kind of stunned because I didn't see it coming. I didn't have a chance to prepare myself for this. I guess I'm asking that everyone lend me their strength in the coming week. I thought I was a pretty strong person, but I might need it. And sorry for being all over the place. My mind is kind of a jumble if you can't tell.

I know as a comedy stand point it does make sense but telling your kids that story...after them knowing and even saying after the first time they meet that she isn't, just doesn't make sense to me.

The amount of greed in this world makes me sick. My grandmother ("Nanee") was gone less then 2 hours before the family began carving up their little slices and fighting over stuff. My dad's in the hospital and all they have to say to me is that I have to find someplace else for him because when he's released, he can't go back to my Nanee's house where he'd been living for the past 18 months. What ever happened to kindness and understanding. Even a touch of sympathy would go a long way. Instead I get what fels like thw weight of the world dumped on me while everyone laughs, points and just say, "Wow, you're so screwed." Sorry to be another downer. I just really needed to vent. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do.

I'll be honest, reading this pretty much pisses me off.

Man, that's rough. Particularly for your dad.
To be honest, my dad's no saint. Full blown non-functioning alcoholic who's done a lot of bad in the later end of his life. He's paying for it with physical/mental ailments and social backlash. What sucks is that people don't distinguish between me and him. The feel it's fair to make me suffer for his sins. Especially if there's profit in it for them. I'm not saying I'm a better person than any of them, but it doesn't even seem like they're trying.
I take it your Dad needs a caretaker Stan? It's weird how selfish family can be sometimes.
See above. He's got an abdomen full of mush and seriously compromised mental capacities. We just don't have the money/time to have him declared incompetent. Sucks to be poor.

He refused treatment at the hospital today so they're checking him out against their own better judgement at 4 today. You know, cause he can't just work with me and stay calm until the day before the funeral to give me time to figure things out. He's got no place to live except with my brother who's a recovering alcoholic. Yeah, bad idea. My extended family knows they're screwing me over but doesn't care. And that's pretty much their own words.
Anyway, I might be distant/moody/whatever for a while until I figure this out. I'll do my best to fulfill my obligations to the players of Care Bears though. You have my word on that. Thanks for being there for me guys. It feels good to just get my frustrations out of my head.

I was in a very similar situation with my mom. I got saddled with her care as no one else would take care of her due to years of mistreating everyone around her. Eventually I talked it through with some hospital workers and they convinced me to get her proved physically incompetent to live alone (way easier than mentally) And with that, once she was in the system it became way easier to get her the care she needed. It didn't cost anything, just time, paperwork, and a caseworker coming out and observing.

Knife Fight (Small game; Cop, deputy, Doc, nurse, Tracker, backup tracker, and three Mafia members.)
HeroClix Mafia X (some-teen/twenty-something potential HeroClix properties battle it out to see who has the best chance to become the next HeroClix set -- will it be TMNT, Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, or Babylon 5? Or something even more hard to believe?)
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (... the scum are Tomatoes. That's about all I've got for that so far.)
Secret Santa Mafia (Everyone is given two roles to pick from -- but they're not picking for themselves, they're picking for someone else! Do you give someone you've never played with before the Cop power? Or do you make an old friend a PGO -- only to find out at the end of the game, they were scum?)

Here's the text:
As you may have read in the New York Times, it’s an exciting time for Dungeons & Dragons. We are happy to announce today that we are developing the next iteration of D&D, and will be looking to the legions of D&D fans to help shape the future of the game along with us.
Our mission is to ensure that D&D enters its next 40 years as a vibrant, growing, and exciting game. By listening to the needs of the D&D community, we can meet this goal. As part of our increased efforts to engage with the player-base, we launched a series of weekly articles in early 2011, including Rule of Three and Legends & Lore, to give you a voice in our work. We’ve listened to both praise and criticism from all D&D fans, regardless of their edition of choice, and we’ll continue to do so.
That is why we are excited to share with you that starting in Spring 2012, we will be taking this process one step further and conducting ongoing open playtests with the gaming community to gather feedback on the new iteration of the game as we develop it. With your feedback and involvement, we can make D&D better than ever. We seek to build a foundation for the long-term health and growth of D&D, one rooted in the vital traits that make D&D unique and special. We want a game that rises above differences of play styles, campaign settings, and editions, one that takes the fundamental essence of D&D and brings it to the forefront of the game. In short, we want a game that is as simple or complex as you please, its action focused on combat, intrigue, and exploration as you desire. We want a game that is unmistakably D&D, but one that can easily become your D&D, the game that you want to run and play.
D&D is more than just a set of rules for fantasy gaming. It launched an entire gaming genre and played a pivotal role in creating the entirety of the gaming industry, both analog and digital. The game has lived and thrived because it has awoken a spark of creation, visions of daring adventure, wondrous vistas, and untold horrors that pull us all together as a community of RPG fans. It is the countless players and DMs who have brought it to life over the years. The game is at its best when it is yours.
For that reason, we want your participation. The goals we have set for ourselves are by no means trivial or easy. By involving you in this process, we can build a set of D&D rules that incorporate the wants and desires of D&D gamers around the world. We want to create a flexible game, rich with options for players and DMs to embrace or reject as they see fit, a game that brings D&D fans together rather than serves as one more category to splinter us apart.
We have begun obtaining feedback from a limited Friends & Family playtest consisting of internal employees and their gaming groups and soon we will be expanding that group to consist of members from our existing body of playtesters. Then at the D&D Experience convention in late January, Wizards of the Coast will conduct a special playtest of ideas currently in development. The D&D Experience will be moving to Gen Con in 2013, so as a convention special this year, we will be offering show attendees a first-look at a draft of the new set of rules. Then beginning sometime in the spring, we will begin open playtesting. Through our web site, we will release a growing set of rules, classes, monsters and other materials for your study and feedback. We seek to reach as many people as possible, from the gamer who just started with D&D last week to the gaming group that has been together since the early-1970s. For this process to work, we want to give a voice to all D&D fans and players of all previous editions of the game.
The next year is going to be an exciting one. There is a lot of work to be done, and I’m hoping you have the time, energy, and inclination to pitch in. We sure hope you do, as we seek to make gaming history by shaping the future of D&D, together.

Why not a mafia game where everyone is an end of the world option and the mafia has some theme within that? I would certainly play in such a game.

"End of the world Mafia" sounds pretty cool, actually.
The Mafia could be people who have saved the world from being destroyed in fiction (or something like that). If the Mafia wins, the world is saved. If the town wins, the world is destroyed via the survivors combined efforts.

I had an AMAZING idea for the cast for this.
That being said, I have at least 10 people for Zyxba's Murder Mystery Game. That's good enough to at least run it.
I do promise to anyone who signs up that they'll love their role, or their money back!
Just so people have a better idea what to expect, it's based around Clue/Kill Doctor Lucky.

I don't know much about the clix scene these days, but it looks to me like they lack the ability to engage mobile opponents. One of them with a couple of other figures who can handle a spread map would have maybe been better.
This is reminding me of the Range vs. Melee stuff I hated about Heroclix, so I better stop now.

Okay, I'm pretty sure I've seen this DVD before. After all of this a fireman walks in, takes all his clothes off, and says something snappy like, "Keep the iron hot, baby."
