Help! Need advice on AIM, other instant messanging

I'm interested in playing online, but I don't have any instant messaging set up on my computer. Can anyone tell me (yes, I am totally ignorant), what is AIM? Is it free? How can I find it?

Does it have anything to do with the Advanced Idea Mechanics? Because there's no way I'm trusting their stuff! :D

Sorry to be so out of it, but any info would be appreciated.

Well, just got set up with AOL instant messenger, which is I guess what AIM referred to...so...guess I don't need help after all. Sorry!

Ok, I do need help after all - the Heroix site mentions there being a command to roll dice in AIM, but it doesn't seem to work...anyone know what the command is and/or how to use it?

the command can only be used in a chatroom....

From your buddy list, click on the "Chat" button and invite your opponent to the chat room...If your on, you can IM me (AIM name is Psylockeslover) and i can go through it with you...
