ATTN: This game needs one replacement to replace a disappeared player!

+++++++++++++++++

In the land of Dungeons & Dragons, the monsters are growing restless. The adventurers they fight seem to be growing more and more powerful every age and most of the monsters alive today haven't ever killed even a single adventurer. A small selection of monsters from across the planes have decided to do something about it. They've convened a moot in a dark, forgotten place, far away from the eyes of any adventurers. Here, they can share their secrets and their power and plan a way to turn the tables on their adventuring nemeses.
Unfortunately for the monsters, it seems none of them can agree on how best to bring about this new era or who should lead the charge--and when monsters clash, there is sure to be bloodshed.

+++++++++++++++++

Here it is, Sigdr's first mod. Each of the roles will be either an iconic Dungeons & Dragons monster or one of my personal favourites. For consistency's sake, the roles will be based on the 4th-edition versions of said monsters. If you aren't familiar with 4th ed or aren't familiar with D&D at all, don't worry! I'm very descriptive.

+++++++++++++++++

I'd like to have at least 20 players to start.

To anyone wondering whether a given monster is in 4th edition or not, the answer is usually going to be "yes". For the curious, I have uploaded the tables of contents (or indexes when the tables of contents did not say anything about monsters) of most of the 4th ed books that contain monsters. There are a few more monsters scattered about here and there and a whole lot in dragon and dungeon magazines but I'm not uploading all those.

Here's the album (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/album.php?albumid=2358).

I'm glad my friends don't hate 4th ed. If they did I'd have nobody to play with since I strongly dislike 3.5.

Hey Sig, I was hesitant at first - figuring they'd just be "duplicated info" - but the Monster Vault is actually a pretty cool little "boost" to the Manuals.

Also, we need to get you "Book of Vile Darkness" - though it's pathetic compared to the prior edition, it's got potential and at least touches some more on Ravenloft - and a few other books.

Yes, I'm a junkie in need of help, especially as I never actually get to play RPGs. :sleep:

Oh, I have the Book of Vile Darkness. I was really jazzed when I learned they were releasing one for 4th edition. I'll agree that it's small, but what's in there is fantastic. On a non-monster note, Vermin Lord is one of my all-time favourite paragon paths.

I'll check out the Vault. Thanks for the heads up. :grin:

Vermin Lord is a very welcome return to the game, agreed. :) I would try using the druid paths to create something similar but it wasn't...quite right (not that I got to play test them but you know, you can just tell.)

It's not that BoVD is bad if it existed in a void - as you say it's got some nice bits, even if a bit small - but after the exemplary 3rd edition version with details on all the archdevils and demon lords, for example, or the way it again just teases us about Ravenloft...eh, some frustration was bound to happen.

Similar to the Vault, "Monsters of Nentir Vale" - while seemingly setting specific - is a pretty solid release and, again, expands your repertoire (it's easy enough to convert the group of gargoyle stalkers to most any setting, for example).

Monsters of Nentir Vale, eh? Now I am kicking myself for not checking it out. I have it as part of a mass download I made under the name Threats to the Nentir Vale but I just figured "eh, campaign book" and didn't bother looking at it. I'll definitely add it (and maybe the monster vault) to the list and maybe I'll even include roles from it in the game! I'm not completely done the roles yet anyhow.

Have you ever considered trying to play online? Currently I'm playing in three different DnD campaigns over Skype (one playing every other Wednesday, the other two on alternating Sundays) presently and I'm loving every second of it. It really is a great way to get to play, and there's some great (and perfectly free) tools for DnD 4th ED that makes playing online every bit as easy (if not easier) as playing across a table :)

I already have to hide this part of my life. Not sure I could also sneak in D&D games, much as I wish to play (heck, I even keep an Insider subscription).
