View Full Version : where are the cosmic heroes in cosmic justice?

with a name like Cosmic Justice, I would expect a long list of Legion members, Green Lanterns, and generic Khunds. Is it just me, or does it seem like they could have called this set "more guys from the JLA, Batman, and Superman we couldn't do before" and had it better reflect the rumored list we keep seeing. I realize that they are just rumored list, but Heroclix didn't have a single Legionnaire in the picture for "Cosmic Justice" and I find that hard to understand. Maybe I'll be suprised whent the set comes out with half GL's and Legionnaires, but I seriously doubt it and expect more JLA'ers than GL's and Legionnaires combined.

In the original Clobberin Time pics there were only 2 figs shown that dealt with the Fantastic Four. Thing and Doom. So give it a chance.:)

Well, we've got at least one Green Lantern, and it's been rumored that there'll be three in the set. I suspect we'll see at least a few Legion members too. Khunds would be too cool, but if Marvel's been any indication, we'll probably just get a bunch more cops and agents.
i just want bouncing boy. then i'll have all the legionarries i need (the rest would be nice, though). and a hal jordon is good... or at least kyle... and any mystic (zaurielzaurielzaurielzaurielzaurielzaurielzaurielzaurielzauriel...)
Well who do we know of so far?

This list has been posted here before and there are two points that I think easily refute it.
1. There are only 4 "Cosmic" characters on this list. Even CT had more FF characters than that.
2. There are no less than 9 Batman characters on this list. That's almost a quarter of the list. Somehow, I don't think that a set named "Cosmic Justice" would be so weighted towards Bats and his rather earthly struggles.
If the pattern of the first two marvel expansions is any guide (and it may not be) between a quarter and a half of the set will be "theme" characters matching the name of the set. The rest will offer a smattering of various other themes, but won't focus strongly on any one. It's entirely possible, however, that differences in the Marvel and DC licenses will change that ratio in one direction or the other.
Anything we say is mere speculation. There is, unfortunately, no logic that applies to this question.

Another factor that contradicts the posted list is the fact that the preview image of Batgirl seems to be a Unqiue (While she is listed as R/E/V with no unique)
Though I honestly would love for this to be the list since we would get Hal Jordan and a Unique Spectre (Droooooll...now they better make him at least 300 points and very god-like, though I suspect if we get a Spectre figure it will be the tonned down Hal Jordan incarnation)

Look in this section for boneyard's thread on confirmed/rumored figures in Cosmic Justice. It's a little more accurate and uses some logic to it's conclusions.

Well here's my take on the list. I didn't write it up and I have seen it elsewhere. As far as The reasons to refute it? I don't think the characters in the set are gonna really mean this is or isn't the set. I mean I think were not seeing legion members for a pretty good reason. They are wildcards and some of the team abilities in DC are considered .... well .... broken. I dont think this but to give you an example. Most if not all of the legion should have flight because they all wear a flight belt. Well now you put a cheap bat team member like a robin and a cheap Superman team fig like Steel rookie and a cheap JLA member like maybe E Booster Gold. We've all heard that the GL's are gonna be expensive but then you have the LEgion and they now can attack anyone hindering or not. Stealth has no meaning to them. they can move freely and hide in any hindering terrain unseen. That's a nightmare. A bunch of Rookie Legion could just run all over you.
Wildcards are great but when you consider the combinations possible it could be a nightmare that Wizkids is trying to figure out how to deal with.
I mean Marvel doesn't have the anti stealth and stealth team abilities but DC does and god help us if you can bring in a cheap Green Lantern .... all of that plus total army movement.
Plus who knows what powers would be added to the expansion. Can you imagine if Invisible Girl rookie were DC and Legion. She could stand in stealth share defense and carry an entire army with her that's crazy.
Apparition is pretty similar to Invisible Girl. Just think about it.

As far as how many are cosmic?
Green Lantern Jordan
Green Lantern/Sentinel
(his power is from the Starheart)
Martian Manhunter (He's from Mars)
Lobo (He's an Alien)
Supergirl (Is a Devine Creature and an Alien)
Then you have Gods and God powered figs like:
Shazam
Demon
Wonderwoman
Wondergirl
Spectre
Dr. Fate
And then you have characters who have had many adventures in Space and other dimensions including the Titans and JLA
The Titans when helping Starfire and the JLA on too many ocassions to recall.
So that would include:
Cyborg
(Titan who lived amongst an alien race for a time)
Hawkgirl (Depending which Hawkgirl she's an Alien)
Metamorpho (A former JLA member)
I count 14 that's half of an R/E/V set.
Bat charcters are gonna always be a popular part of the sets because they are familiar to a larger audience then most of the figures in the whole set including the heroes. I bet the average person could name 5 bat-villans faster then they could name 5 justice league members and by average I mean not a current or former Comic reader.
The movies mad in the last 15 years have showcased at least 7 Joker, Catwoman, Penquin, Two-Face, Riddler, Posion Ivy, Mr. Freeze.
How many villans were shown in the 4 Superman movies? Technically 4 Lex, and the 3 Phantom Zone Fugitives including General Zod. Otis was a lackey and the fourth film didn't showcase any familiar villians.
People buy what they are familiar with and that's why we get 613 Wolverines and why we will get 631 Batman and Superman figures.
Spidey, Wolverine and the Hulk I understand but why Elektra? I just dont get it. - Terrence

Anyone can copy a list of figures from another post. I just did!
Here's a reason to refute it: this list has been popping up on various boards all over the net for the past month but is in no way real. In a speculation/wishlist thread here on HCRealms someone posted the above list as a "what I'd like to see" type of thing. Apparently it's gone over pretty well because it keeps popping up time and time again.
And in case you want to see it, check out http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=27658&pagenumber=4 for the thread where the list was initially thought up. With as popular as this is maybe Wizkids should consider giving Phicks a job. ;)
One of the main reasons why it isn't a "real" list is the delta force and navy seal models?????? DEO agents would be more believable. All that has been promised is more JL and Titan figures. Yes it would be great to see some LSH but they also need to have some villians to fight as well, just to dabble with the LSH would have the set entirely comprised of LSH heroes and villians(which would make a great expansion!). As far as the "cosmic" aspect we will see GL's; we've already seen John Stewart, maybe Kyle defintley not Hal unless as a unique or as Spectre (unique also), We might see some New Gods: Orion, Big Barda & Mister Miracle ex JLA'rs, the Titans were cosmic spanning as well as the JLA and GLs, i.e. Starfire, cyborg, Raven. Hopefully DC doesn't follow Marvels formula for success Hey include a spider-Man and Wolverine in every booster!!! I like those characters but use the model space for different characters!!!!! I think the Blue superman is a good idea for a Unique but we don't need any other Kal-el models or other bat-man/bruce wayne models either! Variety, variety, variety!! Probaly the mystics will make their debue high on the wish list are Dr. Fate, Spectre, Demon, and Deadman. And don't forget Aliens! Remember Invasion! Khunds, dominators are some that come to mind that plague the DC present and future. If we talk about aliens don't forget the Main Man!!! Lobo! As much as I like Peter David I am extremely happy that the Main Man is going to be turned back into the bad ol' bastich we all know and love!!!!!! One thing I have noticed is that Cosmic Justice seems to be the most awaited heroclix expansion, to me it seems that Marvel clix come out very quickly. I noticed that the DC quality are by far better than Marvel but I haven't seen too many fig from Xplosion.

Another way you can identify fake lists is to see if they include Brother Blood. He is 100% guaranteed to be in the next set. He is mentioned by name in the ad in Inquest magazine. If a list does not include him it is fake.
Concerning your point on the lack of "Cosmic"-ness: Don't get exasperated by rumors. Wait until June. Then you can moan about it. You'll probably have a reason to if you're hoping for a set that's mostly futuristic or space-faring.

two things.
first, i'd give up my LE Dr. Doom for a Demon click. that would just make my day.
second, how in the hell can they possibly make a spectre click playable in heroclix? i mean isn't he "the wrath of god"?
If they can make Doomsday, they can make Spectre. IMO, he should be a giant figure, but I don't know if they'll do it.

who says this set will be 96 charecters anyway? from what ive heard from people who went to conventions wiz kids will have sets out with more than 96 figs in it.. i know for a fact that the next marvel set in november will have over a hundred or so this dc set could have 120 or more to catch up. if ya notice on the dc wizkids site it doesnt give an indication of how many figures will be there and thats the add that matters.. you are just assuming from the past marvel xpansion sets.. im just saying you might be suprised ...
just my opinion....
You may well be right. Since HC isn't putting out a DC set every couple of months, This set could have over 120. I would like that, since it seems to have so many Green Lanterns, it needs more room for other characters, like the LEGION!

The ad for Cosmic Justice in the latest Inquest (with the John Stewart LE offer) says that CJ will contain exactly 96 figures. No more, although I personally feel it should be at least 120 or 130 just to catch up with Marvel a bit.

Well, there's always hope for the DC set following Cosmic Justice. Maybe that one will be the monster-sized set...

Too bad, I was hoping for 120+. I hope they get several Legionnaires in there. Monel, Cosmic Boy, and Saturn Girl at the least.
It made my day to drop by the boards, after a couples weeks away (college homework... gotta love it), and see that fake list still popping up. That has got to be the greatest joke I've ever seen played on internet fandom. It's just impressive how far that list spread.
I'll have to PM phicks and congragulate him again. :)

I'm so glad someone else wants Legionnaires in this set. I like GLs too, but after you make Hal, John and Kyle, you're into characters like Tomar Re and Katma Tui. Not to mention the fact that as cool as the GL ring is, GLs differ more in style than in ability. You've seen one GL, you've seen 'em all.

But marvel allready owns the market on one power clix.
Ultraboy, M'onel, Vi, and Saturn Girl all have multiple powers. Others can be shown in different powers. Quantum Kid can Perplex or Outwit. XS can HSS or Flurry or Forceblast or Incap. Timber Wolf with B/C/F and Toughness. Cosmic Boy with TK and Leadership. Sunboy (an old favorite of mine) with RCE and EE or Pulsewave. Brainiac 5.1 with Outwit and Defend and Support. I am disapointed at such a short reply from an obvious rib. Is that all you have ? I mean what about the lightning family and leadership or the resident brick blok, phantom girl and shadow lass with stealth and perplex or outwit or fir that matter the mountains of outwit the legion have available, and I wont even go into the depth of powers some of the dead members have.I want a better more irate reply post haste please or I shall be forced to taunt you a second time.
lol. "Your mother is a hamster, and your father smells of elderberries."
Sorry if I came across as irate, it wasn't my intention. I missed the "obvious rib". I don't always get the rib when it is written. I could have done more, like Sensor with Perplex and Incap, Chameleon with a host of powers with Shape change: b/c/f, CCE, Incap, Toughness, Perplex, and Phantom Girl with Phasing and....well I guess they aren't all going to have multiple powers.

The idea that powers equal variety has been fostered by lazy writers. Yes GL's would have similar "basic" powers, but numbers and subtle differences can simulate the different ways in which the GL's each operated. Guy takes matters into his own hands, and so would have charge and a lower defense value. Hal was a natural flyer (pilot), so he has good defense and running shot ("new" DC power). John was a mix, so nice defense, and a few clix of both charge and running shot. Alan liked to go hand to hand, so HtH expert. Kilowog was a brute, so superstrength in place of TK on a few clix. Ch'p is a sentient squirrel, high defense ala Wasp. Sallaak had several arms, flurry attack. kyle loses his ring every other issue, so many clix with no powers. It's easier than making Duo Damsel.
now don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the Legion, albeit a new fan, and I would love to see Ultra and the rest (Giant Sized ######## would so rule). I just want my GL's gol'darnnitt, and I aint talking Kyle (mr no GL team, they better make him NA, JLA, GL)

I still say that bothering to make more than 2, maybe 3 GLs is kind of overkill. There's so many brilliant characters to cover in the DC universe. It would kill me to see a set come out with Ch'p, that neglects to come out with Dr. Mid-nite, Orion, the Mirror Master, or dozens of other potentially great ones.
Let's face it: outside of Kyle, Hal, John, Alan, and Guy, everybody else is pretty obscure. I know who all the others are. I like them. I would even like to see them as clix, but not at the cost of skipping out on characters more deserving of representation. And the list of those characters would long indeed.

While I'll agree that having many GL (especially all the Alien ones) might seem like overkill, remember that as of yet there are no members of the Green Lantern team at all in Hypertime (same as the FF in Marvel at first). In Clobberin Time we got 14 figures to represent the FF (not including LEs), and they are still underepresented and underpowered in my opinion (being one of Marvel's longest running Team books and company icons). The point of the set I believe is to introduce both GL and Legion to DC HeroClix, and add new blood to already existing teams. Besides Jon, Kyle and perhaps Hal, there are also Golden Age GL/Sentinel and Jade, both of whom could have the GL and JSA team affiliation. So I expect maybe 8-10 figures to represent team GL inluding the send-away LE GL. Not a lot overall. I would like to see several of the characters you mentioned, but let us get some more of the "foundation" characters in before some of the more esoteric ones (not like there won't be any of those anyway). I'm a fan of JSA and Hawkman, so I want to see Sentinel, Dr Fate, Hawkgirl, Wildcat, Mr Terrific and yes, Dr Mid-nite too. Let us hope that they find the right balance of GLs to other affiliations in this set.
I agree. Alan and John (since we know he is in it) for this set, Kyle and Guy for the next, and Hal and Kilowog for the third. Space them out, so there is room for other non-GL's.

Actually, thinking about it, Apparition is much more like Kitty Pride, but your point is still valid...though I suspect they WILL throw a bone out giving a token (like Hawkman) Legion member.
I hope for more than a token Legion member in a "Cosmic Justice" set. There was decent variety in the first set (a little heavy on Batman, but he does make the money for DC), so I expect the same. Clobberin Time was FF, Xplosion was Xmen, so I expect JonL to be true to the title of the set and give us some cosmic heroes, which is the Legion.

I agree with being true ot the name....the fake sets had too many Batman types to be Cosmic Justice......A lot of Legion with the other majority of the set being Justice League friends and foes, hopefully (Cosmic Justice...Some Cosmic (Legion) Some Justice (JLA) ). There are still plenty of the "periphery" JLA members to be made, not just the main 7 from the Saturday morning cartoon.

If I had to guess, I'd think there will be the big three, plus Mon-El (with three different names for his r/e/v), plus at least one Legion baddy (Mordru?).
The trouble is, with a fairly small set, and a lot of big gaps, I don't think everything's getting covered. I'm starting to suspect the Mystics may only get token representation, for one.
Unfortunately, you may be right, bjmc1975. I hope it is one of Alan Scott's versions, probably E, since he should be JSA on R and V. A villian Mystic is also possible, amd Modru would fit. He is a long time Legion enemy, and is currently in the JSA.

NO NO NO
Here's my take....Since DC only lets good figures get through(you know, good paint etc) DOES ANYONE THINK WE MIGHT SEE MORE THAN 96 FIGS IN cOSMIC jUSTICE?
I dont remember what the CJ ad said, but if wizkids takes awhile to release DC sets cause dc is picky, then do you think they said "lets make the most of it and release a bigger than usual expansion set?"
Just saying is all
BTW Mordru rocks. And did anyone read the current story arc of JSA . Pretty cool how those guys teamed up! Dont give it away!

Unfortunately, Secretwarrior, there will only be 96 figures in CJ. The advertisement in Inquest #97 does say "...collect all 96 figures available in the set." So I do think that neglected teams like GL Corps, LSH, JSA, and the Mystics are not going to all get the representation we think they deserve. In fact, I'd be surprised if ANY of those teams were represented by more than 3 characters. I don't think Wizkids is going to adhere very closely to the "Cosmic" title of the expansion. I think the name just indicates that cosmic heroes will be featured moreso than in Hypertime.
Wizkids would be smart to feature characters who could be seen as representative of several different camps. Mordru, as Jaythor aptly points out, would be a great choice because he represents an LSH foe as well as a JSA foe (Princes of Darkness is their 2nd bout with him).
Dark Circle acolytes are, of course, LSH enemies, therefore "cosmic," and they are currently plaguing modern-day heroes Green Lantern and Green Arrow. For that reason I think they'd make great generics.
Ra's al Ghul would also be a double-duty character, a Legion foe for fans of the cosmic theme, as well as a classic Batman enemy for those fans.
Is there anyone else you guys can think of that could please fans of two different camps?
Minor clarification Hatut: The group from the Legion is the Dark Circle. The group currently fighting GL and GA is the Black Circle.

we've know of 8 clix out of 40
batgirl
bizarro
wonder woman
penguin
jon stewart
green arrow
black canary
& martian manhunter
2 of those I would consider "cosmic" so if you go by the law of averages there will only be 10 "cosmic" characters in cosmic justice or you could go with the sense God gave you & realize we only know 8 out of 40 & wait for the set to come out to decide if its "cosmic" enough to your liking the other 32 clix could all be "cosmic" for all we know!

If they can make Doomsday, they can make Spectre. IMO, he should be a giant figure, but I don't know if they'll do it.
I don't know...Doomsday can arguably be taken out by a single character..if the person is ready and they have the proper powers...(magic being a good one...superspeed/strength always helpful)
Spectre..full on...is a cosmic being...
Look at Crisis...even Pre Crisis Kryptonians are sideline players when the Spectre comes to play...
He'd be a monster point wise...to due the character justice...

Far from 1 power clix, wouldn't you say?
Not one power, but one trick pony is a better way to term it...
Vi only has growth/shrinking powers...so not really more powers...maybe high defense/incap...then toughness lower defense/SS to represent her shrinking/growth.
M'onel is basically Superman lite so no surprise there...and Ultraboy will make an interesting clix as he can only have one power at the same time...
Isn't Saturn girl just telepathic? She doesn't have TK right?
Timber Wolf will probably be Sabretooth, DC style so CCE...
I don't think XS will have that many powers...just look at her as a 2nd tier superspeedster...
Jadehorde, what I was referring to was that each of those people could have more than one power in clix. I see Ultraboy as a lower version of Monel, not jumping powers. He switches powers pretty fast, so they could be on the same clicks. Toughness and CCE, RCE and Toughness, Flurry and Toughness. Saturn Girl is indeed telepathic with no TK, but she uses her powers differently than the other telepaths. Outwit, Incap, and Perplex would fit her better than Mind Control and Psychic Blast, but that is still 3 powers, not one.
Timber Wolf with B/C/F or CCE and Toughness and Battle Fury, and possibly Charge. XS could have HSS and Super Senses, plus Force Blast later, or Phasing, for those fast getaways.
