Why doesn't Cyclops wear ruby quartz contacts?

Cyclops has to open his visor to unleash his blasts....also quartz would make TERRIBLE contacts!

Well, as cool as Ruby Quartz contacts sound, how could he put them on? You kinda have to open your eyes when you put contacts in and Cyclops would blast down half the building and probably fry off a couple fingers before he could finally get the left contact in. Besides, how would he use his optic blasts? He would have to take the contacts out in order to use his mutant powers. That's kind of a liability in the battlefield.

Oh and mutants are immune to there own powers so Cyke could wash his hands in Optic blasts. Maybe he could put in the contacts while looking up (hoping no planes are flying over head :laugh: )

on the topic of mutants immune to their own powers, also, havok is immune to cyclops' power and cyclops is immune to Havok's. Thats pretty cool when they fight then

Actually, during the E is for Extinction storyline, Cyke revealed that he did in fact have emergency ruby quartz contacts. Of course, he was shown after he had already taken them out (his visor had been destroyed), so they didn't go into it very much.

Contacts do have a nasty habit of falling out during rigorous activities, such as Jean Grey lovin' or Magneto butt-kickin' which might be helpful in the latter situation, but Jean sure would be pissed if you fried of a piece of her during your nightly romp.
