So now that everyone has signed up lets see waht we have to work with.
400 pts. minimum 4 figures one from each Hot/HoT FF, Fantastic Four Starter, IC, and Hulk Fast Force. Max cost per figure 150 pts. No duplicate figures including R/E/V's. Though LE's and U's of the same figure are ok. Special objects are ok as well.
This restricts us to only 3 possable "generic"themes avalable
Brute, Soldier, and Scientist.
That said there are lots of non theme options avalable. I'm gonna post a few good teams both theme and not and ppl can post their own ideas as well. Hopefully this will help ppl make theams for the upcoming League.

Ok Theme teams I'm gonna post one for each.
Soldier is probublt the most powerfull theme avalable with pieces like HoT Cap Thing and Warmachine avalable it's gonna be tough. Here's one i made.
HoT Captian America 72 pts(Hot/HoTFF)
The Thing 100 pts (FF Starter)
E Hydra Operative 11pts (IC)
General T-Bolt Ross 25pts(Hulk) **This takes care of minimum requirements**
Rocket Raccoon 65pts
Star Lord 90pts
R Sheild Agent 10pts
R Hydra Medic 12 pts
E Sheild Medic 15 pts
This comes to exactly 400 pts and i would include the Hammer a heavy and a light with it.
The seam is fairly ez to use. Capt, Ross, Starlord, and the minions stick together and blast away(keep cap behind wall of minions) wile the Raccoon and Thing stay close to intercept anyone who wants to mess with the block. I really think this will do very well. The only thing it lacks is flyers and that's not a real problem with the current map selection and the fact that this team will have a wooping +9 to map roll.

Ok Theme #2 What I like to call the Brute Squad. This is one of the few teams that can probubly stand up to thise peski Soldiers.
Pip the Troll 42pts(Hot/HotFF)
The Thing 100pts(Fantastic Four Starter)
Sabertooth 51pts(IC)
Hulk 150 (Hulk FF) **minimum req met here***
Knuckles 10pts
Yellowjacket 41pts(I think this will be a gamebreaker piece allong with antman in this format)
R Thug 6pts
400 pts evin(gotta love it when it all adds up) +7 Map bonus and 2 theme rerolls.
This team is also fairly easy to use. Keep them together as they advance to take advantage of Thing's Everlovin, then LC Yellowjacket to tie up their heavy hitter. Then charge in with Thing and hulk I usually carry Sabertooth with pip as all the other brutes pick up objects asap. Remember to have knuckles and his buddy hang in the rear so take tokens for theme rerolls if poassable(who cares if they push to do they are fodder anyway )

OK # 3 Theme is Science. You really need to feness this team but it could be effective.
Mr Fantasitc 100 pts(Fantastic four Starter)
Skull Brother 75pts(HoT/HoTFF)
The Leader 75pts(Hulk)
Klaw 74pts (IC) **reqs met here**
R Blizzard 35pts
Yellowjacket 41pts
That's again 400 pts evin +6 Theme map bonus and 2 probs
This is a much tougher team to use and honestly I have yet to use in in a match. All I can say is tie up with Yellow and hope somone picks up a hammer cause damage and AV ar a bit of a problem with the team. Skull and Mr F's perplex help allot but when they are beeing punched in the face by the likes of Hulk or beeing cracked up side the head by Capt's sheild it might be difficult for them to concentrate on boostin gtheir friends. :-)

400 points even
this would be a fun team to play and a aggravating team for your oppoonents

I got two soldier teams built.. but its mostly because I don't have a ton of online clix:
Captain America (HoT), Bug, The Thing, General Thunderbolt Ross, Rocket Racoon, Wolverine Rookie, Hulkbuster Rangler, and SHIELD Agent (Exp)
thats probably the one I will play but I hadn't decided.
-PC
im confused. so it doesn't matter how many figs as long as there is one per set? or do we need to have only exactly 4 figs, 1 coming from each set.
Nah. re read everything. Sorry for my ignorance. :D
Soldiers will be rampant, as long as it is an indoor terrain. At least smokey cap will get a price boost.

Ok here's my first non theme team and in responce to the crys of Cap will rule I have built it with cap in mind.
Hulk 150pts(Hulk FF)
Nico Monro 84pts(HoT/HoTFF)
R Jean Gray 31pts(IC)
Doombot 3095 30pts(Fantastic Starter) **Req met**
Venom 73pts
R Scarlet Witch 29 pts
Total 397 Of course the obligotory Hammer, Heavy and light
Ok so the soldiers have won map choice. Dosen't matter. let them position then TK Hulk and Venom up and base him. Game over for Cap. Worst case senerio he surrounds cap so you can't base. So what. Rest your 2 heavy hitters and have hulk insta kill one of his minions then base with venom. Done. Both have leap climb so they can reposition evin if based. Neco is your swiss army knife as support PC or TK or evin a secondary attacker. She can reall mess up Cap's defences by HSS or Phasing to adj to him when he's got a counter or pushed and grab poison next round :-) Scarlet is of course PC and Doombot is just filler and mop up. This team not only I think has a great chance vs Cap but vs many other teams as well.

In my opinion here are the top 2 utility figures I'd take from each "set"
not nessissarily the "best" figures just the ones that will most likely fill the holes in many of the team builds.
Hulk
Hulk
General Tbolt Ross
Fantastic Four Starter
Doombot 40pt
Thing
IC
R Jean Gray
E Fire Lord
Hot/HotFF
Nico Monro
Captian America

I do not agree with Hulk fast forces.
Must also add Abomination.
Well my non theme build so far.
Abomination 100pts
Whirlwind 20pts
Kurse 121pts
M-11 59pts
Thing 100pts
Mostly melee team,Abomination has guarenteed base in second turn.
When Abomination is almost dead you leap him to his regen click accepting pushign dmg.
Most figures are regenerating trie to retreat and heal on time.
If they do not come, you come back again to wreck there pieces.
Whirlwind is for basing and making 400 point total he has 10 movement.
15def energy defelection.
Can also slow play by trying to pick up Mjolnir, and let them come.
Captain america only does 1 dmg to Kurse, Thing, and Abomination.
M-11 can keep cover fire retreat if damged.

I had success last night with this Brute team:
Hulk (IH)
Abomination (IH)
Pip the Troll (HoT)
Thug (IC)
Thing (F4)
If you use the E Thug this is exactly 400. Everyone has Superstrength and the potential to lay down serious damage. Pip is a transporter, who I used to position Thing for his full move charge. Also, Thing can Quake at the end of his movement to smash up Soldier teams abusing the SHIELD TA. The Hulk and Abom have L/C to start so you can position them anywhere for the big hurt. Feel free to push since Abom has Indom and Hulk has a power that heals him when pushed. The Thug can be a nice annoyance/tie up piece, or just movable blocking terrain to help you move up on range teams. Yes, Captain America on the Bridge could be trouble getting up on, but you also have 2 figs with Impervious to shrug it off some times. You could also win some map rolls with this team to remove the Bridge as an option.

You need one more figure to get theme but that's very close to my team I made. It's very good and I think it has a good chance vs cap teams.

unfotrunatly with sheild ta cap can do 6 damage in one shot but that's a good team. All that imp, LC and 18 Def will be hard for cap to deal with

The official theme rules for generic is 1 fig for every 100 points of the build (150 for Non-Generic). I should only need 4 figures to get a theme bonus.
Does HCO operate on different theme rules or did I miss another rule change about theme teams?

The Theme Team rules were changed in a tournament guide update.
Teams are now based on 300 point groups (rounded up.. so if you somehow played 400 points, you would need the amount of figures for 600).
http://wizkidsgames.com/blog/2011/03/31/2011-rulebook-of-wild-cards-and-themed-teams/
That will show you how it works now if you care to read, and why you have to have 6 figures for a theme now on generic key word :/.

No, you're correct. 4 figs for a generic keyword theme team at 400 pts.

It happened a year ago or so. Now it's in 300 pt chunks
100-300 needs 3 for generic, 2 for non generic
400-600 needs 6 for generic, 4 for non generic
700-900 needs 9 ect.....
Generic gets 1 pc per up to 300, non generic gets 2 both get # of figs added to map choice.

This really hampers the people that play 400 point games. Now my fun brute theme team is not really playable under the new rules. Lame. :ermm:

I was with you on this one Karl, I never knew that this change came about :
Building a Themed Team – The change for build requirements is subtle. Instead of being based on every 100 or 150 points of the build total, it is based around multiples of 300. If you are using a generic keyword, then you’ll need 3 characters on your team. If you are using a named keyword, then you’ll only need 2. (Wait a sec – what’s a named keyword? It’s a keyword that is not a generic keyword!). For build totals of 400 through 600, that number doubles (6 characters for a generic themed team, 4 characters for a named themed team). And so on.
I was wondering why my 5 man Brute team didn't get the map roll bonus last night. Back to the drawing board for me...

I knew the rule, but misread the question. :p

This makes Brute that much harder to build, unless they allow GG and Drax into the mix.

Time to start a new thread now that the rules have changed? I know we have Armor, Celebrity, Avengers, Robot, S.H.I.E.L.D. and more available for theme teams now.
