sol's take - The Sub-Mariner

Hey fight-fans, this time I'm giving the Avenging Son, Namor the clix treatment. Since the Silver Surfer was the first Defender recruit, I thought I would create the one founding Defender missing from HeroClix as yet.

My take on Sub-Mariner is sort of a pumped-up Hercules in that he does NOT have Invulnerability, but does have a fairly high Defense (which is sort of the point for the Defenders it seems). Game use aside, Hercules either SHOULD be Invulnerable or Thor shouldn't. They are practically the same in power (new Odin-Force Thor not withstanding). Back to the thread here, Subby has Toughness for a long time in the vein of Hercules. He of course, flies, so he doesn't have the dolphin move symbol. Gotta do some Attuma stats to get one...all the main Atlanteans fly for whatever reason, invalidating a perfectly good game mechanic. Now for the stats:

Why does Sub-Mariner have a ranged attack, you ask? Back in the day, Subby could shoot electrical bursts from his hands. He didn't do it all that much though, and eventually he stopped doing it all together. Hey! If JonL can obscurely use Laura Brown and put Scorpion on the Masters of Evil(which did happen), then I can pull the 'Subby Card'!

Pretty close to mine. Except since he flies I didnt give him much Charge. He just doesnt Charge while he's flying to much. Are you sure you didnt copy me? :D

Charge He occasionally charges while flying.

Super Strength He is super strong until he is to much out of the water.

Toughness His dense flesh he has for those great underwater depths.

Regeneration his ability to renew himself after he's drenched in water.

Why did you give him ES/D? He's not a fast flier. HE takes extra damage from heat.

Also why did you jump from 7 klixs of health on the Experienced to 9?

Nope, didn't even know you did his stats, Manchine...The Regeneration is a nice touch, but I don't think he needs a 12 attack. Check out my Silver Surfer post as well. Next up, Photon.

He has 8 on E version...left of the last speed....The energy deflection was because I forgot to change the color when I was copy/pasting...lol

AHhh did photon lol. We'll compare. Hows that. Glad to see another person thinking these through. I wont get into Silver Surfer. There's to much power that can have to much. There's such a wide grouping of his powers and how he could be portrayed.

I think we can all agree that Surfer could be done several different ways.T he thing is, he can be done! And with him being the top vote (by far) getter in the "You Pick" thread, he should be made.

Thats why I dont like doing those contraversial figs. There certain figs I will do. But I would have to stay away from certain figs. Silver Surfer being one of them.

I like controversy...have you ever read any of my posts?:devious: That's why I started with Surfer. Actually, I have planned Photon, Punisher, Thanos (who doesn't fly), Adam Warlock, and Superman so far. Watch for em in the next few days.

Thanos ohhhh. Punisher ehhhh. Adam Warlock, with or without his gem? Superman now that would be interesting. I have read a few of your posts but not all of them. I enjoy discussing Figs. Thats why I do this. Namor was the one I disagreeed with the most. Absorbing Man was the Hardest.

Amen to that. I think it's a big ol cop out that Surfer is 'too powerful' to make as a HeroClix figure.

Good work for both of you (agree for Toughness, some Charge, Rigeneration last clixs for the water second wind, ecc..), but I think Namor should have Combat Fury on most of the dial, especially in the first two version. Also, concerning its last adventure as a manager and its high iq (showed many times in relationship with Reed Richards) a mature Namor could have Outwit in its first clix, too. And, about your last argument on Surfer: of course it can be done: with Thanos and Thor under 200pts (and Supes for the DC side) the Surfer ought to cost from 150 to 200pts; Herald of Galactus are not so out of scale when compared to other cosmic being or semi-god.
